33% Of U.S. Households Skipping Meals Or Lowering Portion Sizes Because Of Food Price Spikes, Yet The MSM Is Too Busy Protecting Democrats From 'BidenFlation' Before Midterms To Care

33% of households skipping meals or serving less

By Susan Duclos - All News PipeLine

The closer the midterm elections get the more the MSM downplays or outright ignores the state of our food supply, the food chain, shortages, massive inflation, in favor of feel-good, "everything is getting better" stories, in the hopes that will help Democrats in less than a month when Americans will decide who has control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

We'll see a story here and there in the MSM, instantly replaced by something more democrat-friendly, but the majority of those actually informing Americans of the true state of affairs, are conservative and Independent News websites.

One of the larger MSM outlets which leans slightly to the right side of the aisle, the WSJ, has addressed some food shortage issues, which only manages to highlight the distinct lack of actual reporting from the other more left-leaning news outlets.

Ask yourself: After the initial outrage that in the midst of a baby formula shortage the Biden regime was stockpiling baby formula at the border for illegal immigrants, while American parents couldn't find any, when was the last time you heard about it?

You will be excused for not knowing that "roughly one-third of households with infant children who typically use formula had trouble obtaining it last month, according to a recent survey by the U.S. Census Bureau," because the MSM is too busy trying to cover for Joe Biden's economy killing policies.

Many U.S. households are still struggling to find baby formula, almost a year since supplies thinned on store shelves and eight months after a nationwide recall.

Adults in roughly one-third of households with infant children who typically use formula had trouble obtaining it last month, according to a recent survey by the U.S. Census Bureau. Nearly one in five of affected households has less than a week of formula on hand, the survey showed.

First and foremost, after seeing the news below, to which the MSM has been largely ignoring, please remember that all of this is happening in America while the Biden regime is busy sending tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine, instead of helping desperate Americans.

HIDING FROM THE TRUTH....

A perfect example of what the MSM does comes from the inflation numbers, which continue to rise.

They report the following:

The consumer price index, a key inflation barometer, jumped by 8.2% in September relative to a year earlier. Economists had expected an 8.1% annual increase. Basically, a basket of goods that cost $100 a year ago cost $108.20 today.

The caveat they did not offer, although a look at their chart of specific increases makes clear, is that your "basket of goods," better not include eggs, butter, milk, poultry, ham, coffee, bread, fruits and vegetables, or those numbers fly right out the window.

Fact is, to the MSM saying "only" 8.2% inflation beats the heck out of telling their audiences they are paying far more than 8.2% more than last year, hitting 30+% for many household staples.

Prices continue to rise and with items like milk, it is very difficult to buy in bulk and then freeze, first given the space requirements of the bulk purchase, and the quality after freezing is not good.

Powdered foods, milk, butter, and other dairy products can be purchased in bulk without taking up too much of your storage space.

In mid-October Breitbart covered some other consumable that have seen drastic price hikes with prices continuing to rise.

Cakes up 1.8 percent from August and 16.0 percent compared with a year ago.

Ham up 2.1 percent from August and 8.1 percent compared with a year ago.

Frankfurters (hot dogs) 1.0 percent from August and 16.5 percent compared with a year ago.

Cheese up 0.7 percent from August and 13.4 percent compared with a year ago.

• Ice Cream up 1.0 percent from August and 13.6 percent compared with a year ago.

Fruits and Veggies up 1.4 percent from August and 10.4 percent compared with a year ago.

Potatoes up 1.8 percent from August and 17.5 percent compared with a year ago.

Lettuce up 6.8 percent from August and 15.7 percent compared with a year ago.

Sugar and Sweets up 1.8 percent from August and 14.4 percent compared with a year ago.

A look at the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, we see Breitbart listed items with some of the highest price spikes over the course of the last year, but the entire list is huge.

Cereals, meat, poultry and fish, coffee, candy, oils and so much more. Readers should take a look at the official data at the BLS website to get a visual of how many foods, and other items such as clothing and electronics, have spiked so high year over year, that we are seeing stories of how many more Americans are now living paycheck-to-paycheck.

As of August, 60% of Americans were living paycheck to paycheck, according to a recent LendingClub report — a number that hasn’t budged much since inflation hit 40-year highs. A year ago, the number of adults who felt stretched too thin was closer to 55%.

Other reports tell us that "A quarter of Americans are now planning to delay retirement because of rising costs."

Breitbart reports that food executives are warning consumers that prices will not be decreasing any time soon. Confirmation of those reports comes from PepsiCo, which produces everything from drinks to snacks.

The 12% increase it expects from full year organic revenue, noted by the Wall Street Journal this morning, comes at the hands of average prices rising an astonishing 17% from the year prior. The price hikes have also helped the company raise its profit outlook. It now expects per-share earnings growth of 10% for the year, the report notes.

NYP reports that candy prices soared 13% to record levels ahead of Halloween season, stating

The latest inflation figures released by the federal government show that the price of candy and chewing gum rose by 13.1% last month — the biggest jump ever recorded.

Analysts said the reason for the sharp price increase is the soaring cost of sugar, which was exacerbated this year due to drought conditions that adversely affected beet-sugar crops in the northern part of the country.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the overall cost of sugar and sweets rose by 14.4%. The category includes sugar and sugar substitutes, the cost of which rose by a whopping 17.1% last month, according to BLS.

If you have a sweet tooth, now is the time to get your candy, chocolates or any other sweet indulgences before the prices rise again....and again.

Wouldn't hurt to learn to make your own sweets.

Breitbart headlines a piece with "No Veggies for You! Food Inflation Surges as Eggs, Pasta, Vegetables, and Grains Get Even More Expensive"

I have said it before, and will reiterate. You want a nice pot roast dinner? If you can find one, have at it. You want casseroles, soups, stews, salads, with meat, freeze dried is the only way to go. Use just a handful and not be forced to use it all because it won't go bad.

BOTTOM LINE

While the MSM is urinating all over their audience and telling them it is just raining, conservative media and Independent News is still keeping track of the food supply chain issues, the price hikes and massive inflation and the fact that for some Americans, those living paycheck-to-paycheck, three full meals a day is no longer affordable.

One third of inflation-ravaged U.S. households are skipping meals or cutting portion sizes, and two thirds are strapped for cash, a survey says ahead of midterms elections, reports The Daily Mail.
