A 6.8 magnitude Earthquake hit California on Saturday, October 19, 2013, but according to officials there is no danger of a tsunami.

The powerful quake hit 47 miles offshore southwest of Etchoropo in Mexico's Sonora state and about 500 miles south of Phoenix, according to the USGS. There are no initial reports of damage.

Initial media reports stated it was a 6.8 magnitude earthquake but the USGS is listing it as a 6.5.This earthquake coincidentally comes just one day after millions participated in an earthquake drill in California as will be seen in one of the videos below.

More than 24 million people around the world have taken part in the largest earthquake drill in history. The effort was led by the US state of California where a recent investigation found that many buildings will not survive a big earthquake.
