I'll admit, Russian President Vladimir Putin has done more to prevent World War 3 than Barack Obama. I'll even admit that Putin has made a chump of Obama every step of the way during the Syria crisis.
With that said, seeing "Putin For president 2016" stickers, articles, commentary, etc..... is going too far and a little overboard.
In regards to Syria, Putin has been seen as the level headed one and he is playing to the American sentiment of no war in Syria. He, unlike Obama, has acknowledged the Syrian rebels, who Obama backs, had access to chemical weapons, benefits from a U.S. strike against the Assad regime, is connected to the al-Qaeda linked rebels in Syria and whole other host of issues.
Obama, on the other hand, has acknowledged Syria has not attacked the U.S., that their proof isn't 100% conclusive, the data he is seeing is "classified" and we should just trust him and support a military attack on Syria.
So, on this one issue, Putin is by far the one making more sense.
I give him that and I give him kudos for speaking up, having the street smarts to take advantage of the situation and raise himself up in the eyes of Americans.
It doesn't change the fact that he supports dictators, like Assad. That Russia, along with China, have prevented meaningful sanctions against Iran in their quest for nuclear weapons, which the international community fears because there is not much doubt within the global community that they will use them.
It also doesn't change the fact that Putin is brutal to his opponents within his own country and if he were an American president, there would be a revolution to remove him.
So folks, root for Putin against Obama when it comes to Syria, but please, lets quit with the "Putin For President 2016" Shirts, mugs, mousepads, candy jars, buttons, hats etc...
Come on, you folks are starting to scare me here!
