Fukushima: Japan Pledges $470 Million For 'Ice Wall' (Video)

By Susan Duclos

Proposed a while ago, and debated until now, recent reports say that Japan is pledging $470 million to build an "ice wall" around the Fukushima nuclear plant that was devastated in the 2011 earthquake and Tsunami.

After continued bad news about massive amounts of radioactive water being pumped into the Pacific Ocean with more leaks being detected, and the revelation that the radiation is 18 times worse than previously revealed, Japan's government spokesman Yoshihide Suga said the government felt "felt it was essential to become involved to the greatest extent possible."

Below is an infographic on how the government believes the ice wall could work.
