Earthquake Rattles East Texas (Video)

By Susan Duclos

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the town of Timpson, Texas, about 25 miles Northeast of Nacogdoches at about 4:52 p.m on Monday.

This is one of the strongest earthquakes to hit Texas. The strongest recorded was in 1931 and it registered at 5.8 magnitude.

As far as earthquakes go, this is considered moderate. There are no reports of injuries or damage at this time.

Between 1847 and 1994 there were more than 110 recorded earthquakes of magnitude three or greater in Texas. No Texas earthquake has exceeded a magnitude of 6.0, and most have been fairly small and caused little or no damage
