'I Believe Trayvon Hit First,' Says His Girlfriend Rachel Jeantel

By Susan Duclos

Rachel Jeantel, Trayvon Martin's girlfriend, who was on the phone with him at the time of the altercation between George Zimmerman and Martin, tells Huffpost Live's Marc Lamont Hill that she believes Trayvon hit Zimmerman first, which was a major point of contention in the Zimmerman trial where he was found not guilty of second degree murder and the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Zimmerman insisted from day one that he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense.

Jeantel expounded on her thoughts on what occurred when Zimmerman and Martin met face to face. "I believe Trayvon hit first," she said. She went on to describe how she believed that Trayvon throwing the first punch was likely caused by Zimmerman attempting to grab and detain Martin.

On the stand when testifying, Jeantel did not mention that she believed Trayvon hit Zimmerman first.
