Embassies Worldwide Are Attacked, WH Unveils Cuts To Include $129 Million For U.S. Embassies

By Susan Duclos

Earlier I reported on some very bad optics for Obama in a piece titled  "Four Days Of Terror Attacks And Obama Campaigns For Three Of Them".

Well, I thought that was bad optics, but the White House has managed to outdo themselves.

In the midst of worldwide attacks against our U.S. Embassies, the White House unveils how it would implement the mandatory spending cuts that were part of a deal made last year.

BuzzFeed highlights the most egregious cut that could possibly be announced while American is still watching those embassy attacks that started on 9-11-12.

United States embassies could see funding for security, maintenance and construction sliced by roughly $129 million if massive defense cuts are allowed to take effect at the end of the year.

The report, released Friday by the executive Office of Management and Budget, also estimates that another $2 million would be cut from funding for the protection of embassy officials. The estimates come after a week when U.S. embassies across the Middle East faced ambush and threats of further violence, and when one ambassador, Christopher Stevens, was killed in Libya.

More controversial cuts contained within the report, are highlighted at The Atlantic Wire. The OMB Report Pursuant to the Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012 can be found here.
