Paul Ryan Heads To Florida On Saturday: DNC Chair, Wasserman Schultz Busted Lying Again

By Susan Duclos

DNC Chairperson Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was busted in outright lies over the weekend and today, she gets busted in yet another deliberately formed implication that is false.

Via Twitchy we see Wasserman-Schultz tweeting the message below:

That was followed up by another lying far left liberal, Daily Kos Founder, Markos Moulitsas:

Had Wasserman-Schultz stopped with "Paul Ryan is absent here in Florida today", the statement itself would have been technically true, but continuing by implying he is avoiding Florida because seniors want nothing to do with RomneyRyanEconomics, followed up by the tweet from Moulitsas,  is easily debunked by a TampaBay.com article from a day ago.

Paul Ryan won't be joining Mitt Romney in Florida tomorrow, he will be raising money in Tampa Saturday and the campaign said he will lead a central Florida event where "he will highlight President Obama’s record of slashing Medicare for current Florida seniors to fund Obamacare. He will also note that the Romney-Ryan ticket is the only one with a bipartisan plan to strengthen Medicare for today and tomorrow’s seniors."

On 60 Minutes tonight Ryan said this: "My mom is a Medicare senior in Florida. Our point is we need to preserve their benefits, because government made promises to them that they've organized their retirements around. In order to make sure we can do that, you must reform it for those of us who are younger. And we think these reforms are good reforms. That have bipartisan origins. They started from the Clinton commission in the late '90s."

Despite their assertions that Paul won't be welcomed in Florida by seniors, Business Insider explains why Florida seniors should be, and probably will be, thrilled by Paul Ryan.

Flashback to a time when Paul Ryan's budget plan was being discussed back in April  2011, with Democrats attempting to scare seniors into thinking Ryan wanted to kill their Medicare:

A new Gallup/USA Today poll contains a counterintuitive finding: the age group most receptive to House Budget Chair Paul Ryan's plan to deal with the budget - seniors.

The poll finds 48 percent of seniors (those 65 and over) support Ryan's plan over President Obama's plan, while 42 percent back the president.

That's the highest total among the age groups tested - a 47 percent plurality between the ages of 50 and 64 backed Ryan, and a 45 percent plurality of those between 30-49 backed Ryan. But young voters overwhelmingly sided with Obama by a 23-point margin, 53 to 30 percent.
 More:

Though Democrats are hammering Paul Ryan as the bringer of Medicare's doom, the Republican vice presidential candidate is far more popular among seniors than he's given credit for.

Same goes for women. And independents.

Surveys conducted shortly before Mitt Romney's VP roll-out show Ryan actually polls fairly well among all three of these groups. And while Democrats claim to be ecstatic at Romney's choice -- they say he's an easy target, and they've already gone to town portraying him as "extreme" -- the bookish lawmaker from Janesville, Wis., could end up bringing more votes to the ticket than he turns away.

A recent Rasmussen poll showed that 31 percent of likely senior voters gave Ryan a "very favorable" rating, compared with 21 percent of all legal-age voters giving him that rating. Just 16 percent of seniors gave him a "very unfavorable" rating.

Seniors are one of the most reliable, engaged and informed voting demographics and they didn't fall for Democratic "Mediscare" tactics in 2010 and 2011 and it is unlikely they will fall for those same tactics in 2012.

Team Twitchy succinctly sums it up: "Another DNC fail"

[Update] Seniors retirees in particular also speak with their wallets, via Roll Call:

One of the most prolific fundraisers in Congress, Ryan has drawn nearly $400,000 from retirees this election cycle, dramatically outperforming most House lawmakers, according to data collected by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Another side note- Democrats seem to think they are running against Ryan, so as a helpful reminder to the slow-witted, Ryan is the Vice presidential choice, Romney is the one running for President.

The Democratc fear and panic of Paul Ryan being on Romney's ticket, is that with that choice, Mitt Romney has shown he is listening to the voters. (See the Wake up America piece explaining that here)
