Online Merchandise Sales: Pro-Romney 95%, Pro-Obama 45%

By Susan Duclos

Cafe Press sells online merchandise and tracks their election-themed online sales via the Election Meter and finds that by comparison of Barack Obama themed 2008 sales to the 2012, his pro-Obama merchandise brand has plummeted from 86 percent in 2008 to just 45 percent in 2012, while anti-Obama themed sales have increased from 14 percent in 2008 to 55 percent in 2012.

From January to June 2012, pro-Romney sales have topped what Obama had in 2008, with 95 percent of the gear sold by Cafe Press being pro-Romney and just 5 percent anti-Romney.

CafePress is an online custom merchandise shop that tracks its election-themed sales via an “Election Meter.” The company believes that such political sales can act as a barometer for electoral success.

“We believe that how people spend money on political merchandise is a leading indicator of how they will ultimately vote,” Marc Cowlin, director of marketing for CafePress, told The Daily Caller. “At CafePress we track the spending on candidate related gear and report our trends through The Meter, which are often in line with polls and voting results.”

Checking the Election Meter page for the week ending July 14, shows Obama's numbers at 56 percent anti-Obama and 44 percent pro-Obama.

PS- Disclaimer- When you click the anti-Obama links and buy something I make money off of sales... Capitalism baaaaaaaby!!!!
