Top Romney Adviser Signals Romney Will Move Left After Winning GOP Nomination

By Susan Duclos

For those that maintain that Mitt Romney is not truly a conservative he just plays one on TV, comments from one of his top advisers gives them more ammunition to argue their case.

Romney Communications Director Eric Fehrnstrom states is asked "Is there a concern that Santorum and Gingrich might force the governor to tack so far to the right it would hurt him with moderate voters in the general election?"

His answer: "Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again."

H/T Think Progress.

Candidates make promises during their campaigning but their record and previous positions on issues is the only true indicator of how they would act vs their rhetoric.

Now we have a top Romney adviser claiming that Romney should not be held accountable for his campaign promises and he should be expected to "reset" his positions if he is elected the Republican nominee .

[Update] Thanks to Twitter's @EliciaDover, we see that Newt Gingrich comes out carrying an etchasketch at start of speech

Thanks for the laugh Newt!!
