Last night at CNN's Arizona Republican debate Mitt Romney criticized Rick Santorum on a vote he made when he was in Congress for the "Bridge to nowhere."
That was in reference to a bridge in Alaska that would have connected the town of Ketchikan (population 8,900) with its airport on the Island of Gravina (population 50) at a cost to federal taxpayers of $320 million, by way of three separate earmarks in the a 2005 highway bill.
At the time the bill was in Congress, Heritage called it an "embarrassment to the people of Alaska and the U.S. Congress."
Santorum did vote for it in a 91-4 majority vote and later voted against an amendment stripping funding for the project, which failed 82-15. (Source)
Romney should be very cautious about highlighting past voting histories of other candidates when his own voting history was a tax and spend liberal one. I have said it before and will reiterate, Romney is throwing stones when he himself lives in a glass house.
