In America- Kid Forced To Remove American Flag From Bike By School- Denair Contact Info

[Update 10/15/10]- Little Cody had some company on his return to school with his flag, bikers all proudly waving the flag.

"In this country we're supposed to be free, and I should be able to wave my flag wherever I want to. And they're telling me I can't."--- 13 yr old Cody Alicea

Denair Middle School forced a student, 13-year-old Cody Alicea, to remove the American flag off his bike because they claimed they received complaints about Cody waving the Red, White and Blue and Cody's grandfather says the schools reasoning is concern about concern "about racial tensions or uprisings."

Since when is the American flag, flown in America, some sort of racial issue?

Funny, when I Google Denair Middle School to get some contact information, the site is listed as temporarily unavailable.

So I go to the Denair Unified School District home page, click the Denair Middle School link, same result.

After following links from contact us page link, I finally get something to work with.

Denair Middle School is located at:

3701 Lester Road

Denair, CA 95316

Our phone number is (209) 632-2510

Our fax number is (209) 634-0269

Principal Aaron Delworth is adelworth@dusd.k12.ca.us

The school needs to explain themselves and whoever told Cody to remove the flag should be fired immediately.

[Update]

After being contacted by FOX40 Friday morning, Denair's Superintendent says Cody will be allowed to keep the flag on his bike. He told FOX40 he and the school are patriotic, but their main priority is keeping students safe; the school will focus on the students who are causing uprisings. Riding a bike is still not allowed on school campus, but when Cody rides his bike to school he can now fly the flag.
