Via FireDogLake, we see that Democrats that supported the public option are pissed off at Barack Obama... again.
Obama's offensive words:
Democrats, just congenitally, tend to get — to see the glass as half empty. (Laughter.) If we get an historic health care bill passed — oh, well, the public option wasn’t there. If you get the financial reform bill passed — then, well, I don’t know about this particularly derivatives rule, I’m not sure that I’m satisfied with that. And gosh, we haven’t yet brought about world peace and — (laughter.) I thought that was going to happen quicker. (Laughter.) You know who you are. (Laughter.) We have had the most productive, progressive legislative session in at least a generation.
Hamsher at FireDogLake responds:
So it’s awfully glib for Obama to now belittle the people who worked hard to get him elected for always seeing the glass “half empty” if they’re disappointed about the public option. Then again, he apparently doesn’t even remember the promises he made to them.
Maybe they’re not being negative, maybe they’re just smart enough to know when they’ve been conned.
One thing is for sure. Obama never would have expressed this kind of contempt for the base prior to his own election. He — and the DNC — are playing Russian roulette with the rest of the party, belittling the very people who show up and vote and do all the campaign grunt work in every race in the country. And for what? It all appears to be little more than an egotistical, thin-skinned taunt aimed at those they feel aren’t giving them the accolades the Democrats think they deserve.
Nobody in the history of electoral politics, and I mean nobody, believes that telling people to “get over it” will get them to the polls. (Well, nobody but Spiro Agnew.) And you can bet your bottom dollar that come 2012, when Obama’s own electoral future is on the line, that won’t be his message.
I would say what I am thinking but in looking over the discussions about this from Memeorandum, I see that RiverDaughter already said it, so credit where it is due.
Wake up and take that walk of shame, Jane. He’s not gonna call you tomorrow, and he won’t send flowers either. Obama used you.
Let me repeat that:
OBAMA USED YOU!
He used all you “best and brightest” progressives. He told you what you wanted to hear, and you fell for it. We tried to tell you, but you guys just called us racists and said we couldn’t play in any of your reindeer games.
“Make discussions of single payer taboo and push the public option!”
How did that work out for you? Dumbasses
No soup for you!
Funny thing is, in 2012, Hamsher and the rest of the "progressive Liberals" will still vote for Obama and they will tell their readers it is to save them from a GOP President.
Unless of course Hillary Clinton decides to run against Obama because those Progressive Liberals that seem so surprised that all they bought into was Obama's lies, with Hillary they would have least gotten the person who ran, not the illusion of what they wanted to run.
So, for no other reason than it amuses me, here is a lil video for 2012:
[Update] Another pissed off progressive puppy.
Obama was right about one thing.. they certainly do know who they are and understand his comments were directed right at them.
I am thinking this is Obama's preemptive strike against Progressive Liberals so after the 2010 midterm elections when Democrats lose their asses, Obama can point to them instead of looking into the mirror and say "It isn't my fault, it is theirs!!!"
