Sixty-one percent (61%) of U.S. voters say Congress should drop health care reform and focus on more immediate ways to improve the economy and create jobs.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 30% of voters nationwide disagree and think Congress should press ahead with health care.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) say given the country’s current economic situation, the Obama administration should wait on health care reform until the economy improves. That’s a 10-point increase from March of last year. Thirty-three percent (33%) still say the White House should move forward with health care reform.
The fact is the more people hear about the backroom deals, the payoffs and the entirety of the bills being presented, the more they oppose it and the longer the Democrats continue to beat this dead horse, the more hostile the political environment is going to get for the Democrats.
Some will already not recover and will not be reelected come November, but those numbers can still rise considerably.
Even Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.)is backpedaling and floating the idea of taking a time out and regrouping.
This issue has been handled badly, publicly and November is going to feel like it is right around the corner to those most vulnerable.
