Obama's Numbers Drop Fast

Gallup on August 24, 2009 headlines with "Obama Weekly Approval Average Now 52%, a New Low."

The sub header:

Approval among seniors, upper-income Americans has fallen below 50%

Two days later.

August 26, 2009, Gallup headlines with "Presidential Approval Usually Falls Below 50%; Timing Varies."

Sub header:

Obama at 51% approval in eighth month in office

The kicker here is the Authors note in the first paragraph:

Barack Obama's latest job approval rating is 51%, according to Aug. 23-25 Gallup Daily tracking. [AUTHOR'S NOTE: Obama's job approval rating has fallen to 50% since this story was originally published.]

On Gallup Daily, there is a graph, and more concerning for Obama than his approval ratings dropping as fast as they are, is his disapproval ratings. (Run your mouse over any portion of the lines and it will show you the exact dates the surveys were taken)

As of June 28- July 1, 2009, Obama had 61 percent approval and 30 percent disapproval.

As of July 31- August 2, 2009, his approval spiraled down to 56 percent with 38 percent disapproval.

Today, right now, August 31, 2009, 50 percent approval and 42 percent disapproval.
