Still Making Excuses For Obama

David Brooks comes up with an op-ed in The New York Times appropriately titled "Liberal Suicide March" but he misses the true news in the Democrats downward spiral of poll numbers.

Obama's agenda.

He blames Obama for not being "feared", not flexing enough muscle I guess, but I disagree with the premise that Obama is some kind of "moderate" who is allowing the mean ole Democrats in Congress (Nancy Pelosi) to steamroll right over him.

Machiavelli said a leader should be feared as well as loved. Obama is loved by the Democratic chairmen, but he is not feared. On health care, Obama has emphasized cost control. The chairmen flouted his priorities because they don’t fear him. On cap and trade, Obama campaigned against giving away pollution offsets. The chairmen wrote their bill to do precisely that because they don’t fear him. On taxes, Obama promised that top tax rates would not go above Clinton-era levels. The chairmen flouted that promise because they don’t fear him.

The title fits, but not the reasoning shown in the quoted paragraph.

Barack Obama "emphasized" cost control, in bills that have been weighted down with pork and earmarks for a ton of politician's pet projects and guess what?

He signs them.

People still seem to be forgetting the president does have a veto pen, Obama's just seems to be out of ink.

Yes, liberals are on a suicide march as all the most recent polls show, their numbers are in a free fall, Obama's agenda, specifically the economic proposals and healthcare have lost support at an amazing rate, but people like David Brooks are still refusing to acknowledge that the suicide march is being led by Barack Obama.

Read the whole column, he lists the poll numbers, the facts about the stimulus bill and if he would stop trying to insulate Barack Obama, justify his spending habits, excuse his far left partisan agenda and explain why it all isn't his fault, then it might have actually been a decent column this week.

Back when the Democrats won control of the White House, the Senate and Congress, I said clearly that they would now have to actually take responsibility for their actions and will be held accountable by the American public, without having anyone else to lay the blame on as they are leading the way and deciding the agenda and I will be damned if far left liberals and Obama supporters are going to get away with pretending that it isn't Barack Obama leading them off that cliff with no parachute.
