Obama's Budget Will Double National Debt

Some Democrats, Independents and Republicans alike are worried about Barack Obama's proposed budget which will double our national debt to $23 trillion in 2019.

Starting this week, President Obama will be “engaging directly with Congress more, and speaking more forcefully on behalf of his budget,” a top adviser said.

On Sunday morning, three top White House officials will appear on network interview shows to describe brighter days ahead for the nation’s economy, and make the case that the budget is an important part of the president’s overall recovery plan.

And officials throughout the party plan to hammer the idea that Republicans are just saying “no” to the president’s budget plans without offering their own alternative.

House Republicans, who released an alternative to the stimulus bill, say they’ll issue their own budget proposal in the next few weeks. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said in January in his opening remarks to this legislative session: “During the 111th Congress, Republicans will strive not to be the party of ‘opposition,’ but the party of better solutions.”

McClatchy reports on "worried" Democrats, mostly the so-called blue dog democrats:

Government spending on most domestic programs is growing at its fastest pace in nearly 30 years, and a lot of worried Democrats are seeking ways to rewrite and reduce the size of President Barack Obama's budget proposals.

As a result, "you'll see a budget come out of the House that spends considerably less," said Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Fla., a leader of the Blue Dog Democrats, a group of 47 of the party's House of Representatives conservatives and moderates.

If all 47 Blue Dogs joined the House's 178 Republicans, they could deny Democratic leaders a House majority of 218.

Emphasis mine to point out that the last time government spending reached these levels was 30 yrs ago.... remember the name Jimmy Carter?

House Republican Leader John Boehner made a statement to reporters which echoes the concerns of many Democrats, Independents and Republicans, which was "When you look at the budget proposal from the White House, I would describe it as an anti-stimulus proposal.

"It raises taxes on all Americans, it increases the size of government, and it borrows too much from our kids and grandkids. This mountain of debt that's being built this year will crush our ability to get out of this crisis and to get our economy moving again."

Knowing all of this and knowing how the public is going to react to this news of what he is doing, Obama is going to kick off an "all-out grass-roots effort today," to urge congress to pass this ridiculous budget plan.
