Blue Dog Democrats and The Third Way

It looks like the far left doesn't appreciate the moderate left.. no big surprise actually since the far left have shown their dislike for moderates of their own party, otherwise known as the Blue Dog Democrats.

Video below from Think Progress, linked above and YouTube URL found here.

It is also being reported that some of those moderate Democrats want Obama to slow down a bit and think he is rushing too much too soon which could hurt the country more than help it.

There is rising doubt among Democrats — particularly moderates already concerned about the big costs and deficits called for in Obama’s budget — that either Obama or Washington have enough bandwidth this year to stimulate the economy, overhaul the failed financial sector and move on to a far-reaching domestic agenda.

“From the standpoint of the Congress, there’s only so much that we can absorb and do at one time,” Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, told POLITICO Tuesday. “To maintain a schedule like the one we’ve got at this moment, throughout the year, I don’t know if it will be healthy.”

I also noticed a link to this group, called The Third Way, so I went to the site to check it out a bit.

Third Way is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank. We are advancing a 21st century progressive agenda by working with elected officials, candidates, and advocates to create policies and market those ideas in the public debate. Since our launch in January 2005, Third Way’s work on security, economics and culture has been used widely by progressive leaders and our impact noted extensively in the national media, including in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, Newsweek and on the NBC Evening News, The Today Show, Good Morning America, NPR and dozens of other outlets.

Evan Bayh, Democratic Senator from Indiana, from the video above, is one of the Honorary Senate Chairs of The Third Way, along with Blanche Lambert Lincoln (Arkansas Senator, Tom Carper (Delaware), Mark Pryor (Arkansas) and Claire McCaskill (Missouri).

The Honorary House Chairs are Jane Harman (CA), Ellen Tauscher (CA), Joseph Crowley (NY), Artur Davis (AL), Melissa Bean (IL) and Gabrielle Giffords (AZ).

Board of trustees can be found here.

The majority of Blue Dog Democrats were elected into their seats by walking down the middle, not being too far left and many were elected in right-leaning districts and states.

What the far left cannot get through their heads, is that if those Blue Dog's do not keep their promises to their own constituents, they will lose their seat and it will likely revert back to the right.

Yet, constantly, the far left targets these Blue Dog Democrats, even to the point of trying to cause them to lose their next elections.
