Stimulus Bill May Not Make It Passed The Senate

The U.S. House of Representatives passed their version of Obama's stimulus bill, without and GOP support and now the bill must pass the Senate before it can head to Obama's desk and unless needless spending and pork are weeded out of the bill, reports say the bill may not make it past the Senate.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Sunday the massive stimulus bill backed by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats could go down to defeat if it's not stripped of unnecessary spending and focused more on housing issues and tax cuts.

The Senate version of the bill, which topped out at nearly $900 billion, is headed to the floor for debate. The House bill totaled about $819 billion and earned no Republican votes, even though it easily passed the Democratic-controlled House. At some point lawmakers will need to compromise on the competing versions.

Free for all spending and taxation is not going to help the economy and without the 60 votes needed to bypass a Republican filibuster, and as long as the Republicans stick to their guns here, this bill will have to be tweaked of wasteful spending to pass the Senate.

It is good to finally see the GOP understanding that their part of Washington's wasteful spending is the reason they lost their base and get back to being fiscally conservative.
