Making nice with conservatives was one of the promises Barack Obama made during his campaign and a new move in that direction has been to wine and dine some conservative pundits, like Weekly Standard's William Kristol, New York Times columnist David Brooks, and Charles Krauthammer of the Washington Post.
I seriously doubt it will offer him any protections against being called out on bad decisions, but it is noteworthy that he took the time to get to know them and let those that would be most critical of him, get to know him.
