Obama Veep Watch: Secret Service Dispatched To Joe Biden's House

[Update] It is official- Biden is Obama's VP pick, and announced by Wapo, Fox and AP.

Much speculation surrounds who Barack Obama has chosen to be his vice president and the latest news suggests, but does not confirm, that Joe Biden is the "chosen one" as Secret Service agents are sent to his home.
The latest reports from ABC News' Political Punch is that secret services agents have been dispatched to his house as word filters down that many other known to be on Barack Obama's short list have been notified they were not chosen.

NBC has reported that Kaine and Bayh were ruled out, sources tell CNN that Hillary Clinton has been told she is not the vice presidential pick and as activity was witnessed all evening at Delaware's Senator Joe Biden's house, finally word comes that the secret service agents are there for protection.

The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.

After reports earlier that hoax text messages have been alerting people of false choices and reports of bumper stickers being made showing Obama/Bayh 2008, to later find out that the Obama campaign deliberately had materials made with different potential candidates to avoid the surprise from leaking, it is difficult to know if this is yet another red herring thrown out by the Obama campaign to throw the media off the trail of who he has chosen.

Joe Biden is a United States Senator from Delaware and is currently serving his sixth term which makes him Delaware's longest serving Senator.

Joe Biden's biography can be found at his Senate website.

If the secret service being dispatched to Biden's residence means that he is the pick, then this will give conservatives a certain amount of ammunition after some of the comments about Barack Obama that he made during the presidential primaries, such as saying that the White House is no place for "on-the-job training", but Biden clearly has the experience that Obama was looking for in a vice presidential running mate.

Until the official word comes out, this is just another clue as to who Obama "may" have chosen, but it is not usual for secret service to be dispatched to a home of one that has been passed over.
