John McCain Vetting Eric Cantor As VP Choice

Eric Cantor, Congressman from Virginia has been asked and has provided records to the John McCain campaign in the vice presidential vetting process.
A McCain campaign adviser told The Politico that they are actively vetting Eric Cantor as a possible running mate for John McCain in the November presidential elections.

Eric Cantor is 45 years old and he has been a congressman for the U.S. House of Representatives since 2001.

From Wikipedia as a reference:

During his first term in office, Cantor was selected to serve as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare. He has also served on the House Financial Services Committee and on the House International Relations Committee and the very powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Since his second term, he has served as chief deputy Republican whip, the highest appointed position in the Republican caucus.

Cator's voting record can be seen at the On The Issues site, divided into separate issues and how he voted with the year of those particular votes.

On capitol hill Cantor is known as "squeaky clean" and has been a proficient fundraiser in key states including Missouri, New Jersey and New York.

Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and one of the nation's most influential evangelical leaders, recently praised Cantor as a potential McCain running mate, calling him rock-solid on social issues — a huge concern for Christian conservatives with the maverick McCain at the top of the ticket.

Cantor joins Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Rob Portman on a the list of possibilities of VP picks for John McCain.
