House Republicans To Take To The Floor Again On Monday On Gas Prices

[Update] 8/4/08 Petition to call Pelosi back to Congress to deal with gas prices.

[Update] Monday 8/4/08- Updates for today being shown here and here.

They are pounding home the message and they are getting the word out via Twitter, and they are showing the country that Nancy Pelosi is taking a 5 week vacation, promoting her book, instead of dealing with the issue that the majority of Americans demand she deal with.

The Republicans will take to the House floor again On Monday to discuss the number one issue on American's minds...gas prices, just as they did on Friday, which we followed along with to our great amusement.

More than a dozen Republicans have already committed to make appearances, according to House GOP leadership aide, including National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole (Okla.).

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Mike Pence (R-Ind.), who lead Friday's five-hour talkathon after the House shut down for the August recess, are also expected to be there, according to this aide.

"In an urgent memo sent to GOP Members and staff Saturday (“A Call to Action on American Energy”), Republican Leader John Boehner (R-) and Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) hailed Friday’s action, and encouraged House Republicans to return to the Capitol beginning Monday morning to help keep the historic effort going," said a press release just released by Minority Leader Boehner's office.

“It’s not a request we make lightly. But the American people are suffering,” Boehner and Blunt said in the memo. “The consequences of continued congressional inaction on gas prices are unacceptable. We’ve called on the Speaker to call Congress back into an emergency session this month and schedule a vote on the American Energy Act. We must continue to make a stand until the Speaker complies.”

What a great time for Republicans to make a stand and demand action, making sure that their words and the fact that THEY are willing to give up their vacation to do the people's business but that Pelosi would rather handle her own business. (selling books)

Malkin has Pelosi's schedule up, so those in her area can show up at her book events and ask her why she isn't on the floor of the House dealing with the high gas prices.

NewsBusters shows that George Stephanopoulos pounded Pelosi into the ground about her negligence and her refusal to allow an up or down vote on drilling. (She knows it would pass)

Good for Stephanopoulos for continuing to hammer the subject. Transcript at the link.

Monday should be interesting and we will, of course, be bringing you all the updates as the day progresses.

GO GOP!!!!
