Is Hillary Clinton Preparing To Bow Out?

The ball is in Hillary's court right now, but reports of more uncommitted Senators deciding to endorse Barack Obama, could be the last nail in the proverbial coffin.

Despite Hilary Clinton's landslide wins in Kentucky, West Virginia and Puerto Rico, she holds no chance of gathering enough delegates to match Barack Obama. Recent reports indicate that Clinton may soon surrender to what many believe is inevitable.

Bill Clinton made a comment at a townhall in Milbank South Dakota, which some are saying is indicative of the Hillary Clinton preparing to bow out of the contest for the Democratic nomination for presidency.

The comment was, "I want to say also, that this may be the last day I'm ever involved in a campaign of this kind." He went on to say he thought his wife, Hillary, would surprise people Tuesday with another strong showing, but the initial words were clear enough.

Other indicators that the end may be near for Hillary are reports that she is eliminating staff members from her campaign. That could be explained by the primaries being so close to the end, so she would not need the advance staff that usually prepares her campaign for each individual primary, or it could be a signal that she has accepted what many think is the inevitable. That Barack Obama has all but sewn up the nomination.

Members of Hillary Clinton's advance staff received calls and emails this evening from headquarters summoning them to New York City Tuesday night, and telling them their roles on the campaign are ending, two Clinton staffers tell my colleague Amie Parnes.

The next thing that would be indicative of Hillary preparing to surrender the fight is that Hillary has 'summoned" top donors to be present for a speech she will be giving in New York on Tuesday, some believe she will be announcing the suspension of her campaign at that time.

The next item which has people connecting the dots is that the Clinton campaign staffers have been told to gather up their outstanding expense receipts by the end of the week, which is being interpreted by some to mean the campaign is getting their affairs in order.

All together, these could be seen as a sign that Clinton will, indeed, bow out.

That assumption is being denied though by word from the campaign itself that says she will not be using the speech tomorrow to end her campaign.

In an update from The Politico ,campaign spokesperson Mo Elleithee denies that staffers are being let go and asserts that "We just haven't figured out our schedule past Tuesday".

Bill Clinton's comments are being said to have meant that since the primary season is coming to an end, he will not be needing to campaign the way he has been.
