A machete-wielding, Molotov cocktail throwing, attacker in Queens

In what is being called a "bizarre" attack that lasted for two hours, a machete-wielding attacker hit 45 year old man in the head, climbed onto a rooftop in Queens and started lobbing Molotov cocktails below, setting a police car on fire.
The victim that was hit was a 45 year old man who fortunately had an umbrella due to bad weather, which came in handy in fending off the attacker. He exited a subway station in Richmond Hill and walked passed past 86-23 123rd St, when for no reason a 21 year old man, with a machete, attacked him.

The victim suffered minor lacerations to the head but blocked further strikes from the machete with his umbrella, according to police.

When the police arrived on the scene, the machete wielding attacker entered a two story home, climbed to the rooftop and started lobbing Molotov cocktails into the street, hitting one unmarked car that had responded, but no officers were inside.

The police evacuated nearby homes in the Richmond Hills neighborhood during the standoff, as officers swarmed the area on foot with a helicopter fly above.

After approximately two hours, police made their way to the roof and took the man in custody and took him straight to the Jamaica Hospital for mental evaluation.

Neighbors saythe attacker was known and was always quiet and had never caused any problems before.

The man with lacerations to the head was taken to the New York Hospital in Queens, where he is in stable condition.

Some awful strange people huh?
