Hillary Clinton Busted on More Lies

The other day I asked if the Democrats were playing a new game about who could lie more and who could tell the biggest lies. Since Clinton's Bosnia lies and her calling those false stories "a minor blip", and the long list of Obama's lies about NAFTA, Rezko and Jeremiah Wright, it is only natural that Hillary Clinton be the next up to bat, so to speak.

The New York Times published a piece yesterday where a Ohio hospital called the Clinton campaign out on yet another tall tale that Hillary Clinton has been telling on a consistent basis.

Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee.

The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.

“We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said Rick Castrop, chief executive officer of the O’Bleness Health System.

Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February.

Just another minor blip?

Today we see news that the Clinton campaign says that Hillary will desist from telling that false tale, now that she has been busted for telling yet another lie.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign says the candidate will stop telling the story of an uninsured pregnant woman who lost the baby and died after being denied medical care, following a hospital raising questions over its accuracy.

Better yet we see that Clinton seems to simply repeat rumor, or stories she has been told without bothering to verify the truthfulness of them.

Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee said, “She had no reason to doubt his word”. He said,” Candidates are told stories by people all the time, and it’s common for candidates to retell those stories. It’s not always possible to fully vet them, but we try. For example, medical records are confidential. In this case, we tried but weren’t able to fully vet the story.”

Elleithee added, “If the hospital claims it didn’t happen that way, we certainly respect that and she won’t repeat the story.”

Is it any wonder that states like North Carolina, that list their first concern as trust..... trusts John McCain more than either Democratic candidate?

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama leads rival Hillary Clinton among N.C. voters, in part because voters say they value trustworthiness over experience.

And N.C. voters gave Arizona Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, higher marks than either Democrat on both counts, as well as on his credentials to keep the country safe, according to a new Observer/WCNC Poll.

One Democrat actually explains why John Mccain is seen as more trustworthy that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

"(It's) his whole background," said Democrat Robert Brown, 46, an online trader from Chapel Hill. "He was a prisoner of war. He's an upfront, straight-talking man."

The poll found that trust is the top consideration for most voters. Nearly nine in 10 said it would play a big role in determining their vote.

The more lies that Obama and Clinton keep racking up in the public's eyes, the more people understand that while John McCain might not always say what they want to hear and may not always see eye to eye with individual voting blocs, he tells it like it is, he is truthful even when it costs him votes.

It is Obama's turn in this little game he and Clinton seem to have started.
