Five Arrested After Throwing Molotov Cocktail At A House With Children Inside

Five suspects have been arrested after throwing Molotov cocktails, two burning 40 ounce bottles filled with gasoline, into a home in Hyannis Mass. The firebombs were thrown at a duplex and into a room where a 3-year-old and 6-month-old were sleeping.
The children were rescued, uninjured and the suspects have been arrested on charges of arson of a dwelling, attempted murder and possession of a Molotov cocktail.

They will be arraigned on Friday, in Barnstable District Court .

One of the tenants from the house, Dennis Edwards, said the attack happened following a previous altercation, a fight that occurred three hours before the Molotov cocktails were thrown at the house, to which the police were called to the scene.

He also states that he had been sleeping when a friend screamed his name after the cocktails were thrown into the house. The friend, Michaela Salvodori, saved her infant daughter and Edwards' toddler son.

Edwards tells the Cape Cod Times that the attackers knew that his son slept in the bedroom where the firebomb was thrown.

After setting the fire which engulfed the duplex, the five suspects fled but were later arrested in Malden, Massachusetts, after authorities located two of those responsible and those two led police to the others which were staying at a nearby hotel.

Four of the suspects were male and one a female, said to be the girlfriend of one of the men in custody.

Jennifer Joseph, a next door neighbor, expressed anger after seeing the damage done to the house, saying, "How can anybody have so low a regard for human life is beyond my wildest imagination — with kids in the house."

The American Red Cross has put some of the victims up at a hotel and others are staying with friends.
