Hillary Clinton Tries To Distract From Her Bosnia Lies By Invoking Obama's Pastor

Quick flashback to March 21, 2008, when it was reported by the New York Times that Hillary Clinton's campaign has specifically asked her allies "not to talk openly" about Barack Obama's pastor and his racial remarks nor his "God Damn America" comments.

In fact, they reported that Hillary Clinton herself had "sidestepped" the issue:

Mrs. Clinton, of New York, sidestepped reporters’ questions on Thursday about Mr. Wright and electability. At one point, she turned from a reporter, pursed her lips and shook her head no. A spokesman said later she was unaware of anyone involved in the campaign pushing the Wright issue with superdelegates.

That was reported on the 21st and just four days later, quite a bit has changed Hillary Clinton's mind it seems.

In that four days a serious credibility issue arose about Hillary Clinton , with some statements she made about a trip to Bosnia, that filmed news coverage showed to be untrue. You can read more about that here and then read where she claimed her "misstatement" was just a "minor blip".

Today Hillary Clinton just jumped headfirst into the Jeremiah Wright issue in a wide ranging interview with Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporters and editors, saying she would have left her church if her pastor made the sort of inflammatory remarks Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor made.

"He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."

I guess having so much time and space devoted to her Bosnia lie is real motivating to change campaign policy to try to distract attention away from her and back onto Barack Obama's pastor.

Obama's capaign spokesmen, Bill Burton, responds:

After originally refusing to play politics with this issue, it’s disappointing to see Hillary Clinton’s campaign sink to this low in a transparent effort to distract attention away from the story she made up about dodging sniper fire in Bosnia. The truth is, Barack Obama has already spoken out against his pastor’s offensive comments and addressed the issue of race in America with a deeply personal and uncommonly honest speech. The American people deserve better than tired political games that do nothing to solve the larger challenges facing this country

To be truthful, if she would have not dodged the question back on the 21st, then her answer now wouldn't seem quite as calculated to draw attention away from her own embarrassment about her Bosnia lies.

Hot Air has a decent poll question about which lie is worse.... Hillary dogding sniper fire or Obama claiming he belonged to a church for 20 years and yet didn't know his pastor was a America hating racists.

Go vote in the poll.
