Politics of Hate?

When the presidential candidates first started campaigning, I figured we would see play softball with each other and get down and dirty when it came to Democrat versus Republican.

What I didn't expect is to see the hate filled vitriol that we have witness the past couple of months from Democrats TO Democrat.

Krugman, the Clinton Shill seems to want to blame it all on Obama:

And it still is. In fact, these days even the Democratic Party seems to be turning into Nixonland.

The bitterness of the fight for the Democratic nomination is, on the face of it, bizarre. Both candidates still standing are smart and appealing. Both have progressive agendas (although I believe that Hillary Clinton is more serious about achieving universal health care, and that Barack Obama has staked out positions that will undermine his own efforts). Both have broad support among the party’s grass roots and are favorably viewed by Democratic voters.

Supporters of each candidate should have no trouble rallying behind the other if he or she gets the nod.

Why, then, is there so much venom out there?

I won’t try for fake evenhandedness here: most of the venom I see is coming from supporters of Mr. Obama, who want their hero or nobody. I’m not the first to point out that the Obama campaign seems dangerously close to becoming a cult of personality. We’ve already had that from the Bush administration — remember Operation Flight Suit? We really don’t want to go there again.

He completely ignores the vitriol coming from Billary and focuses on Obama and Obama supporters.

But most of all, progressives should realize that Nixonland is not the country we want to be. Racism, misogyny and character assassination are all ways of distracting voters from the issues, and people who care about the issues have a shared interest in making the politics of hatred unacceptable.

Racism, misogyny and character assassination--perhaps Krugman should be having this talk with Billy boy, who has become the master of hateful campaigning on behalf of his wife.

Or maybe, Mr. Krugman is trying to counter the fact that Obama very well might kick Clinton's butt all over the place before this is done.

Right now, CBS has Obama ahead in elected delegates with 1134, while Hillary has only 1131.By the time Virginia, Maryland, DC, Wisconsin, and Hawaii vote during the next week, Obama will have a lead over Clinton of about 100 delegates, even counting the super delegates who have thus far committed themselves.
March 4th will, at worst, be a wash for Obama with his probable wins in Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont offsetting his probable defeat in Texas. (Although in Texas' open primary, Republicans and Independents may flock to the Dem primary to beat Hillary).
And then come a list of states almost all of which should go for Obama, including likely victories in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Indiana. By the convention, he will have more than enough delegates to overcome the expected margins Hillary may rack up among super delegates.

And don't bet on all the super delegates staying hitched to Hillary. These folks are politicians, half of them public office holders who are really good at reading the handwriting on the wall and really bad at gratitude for past favors.

The shakeup in Hillaryville campaign headquarters isn't going to help any either.

The Virginia polls are leaning toward Obama also.

No Late Charge from Clinton; Obama Will Get Larger Share of Delegates: 24 hours till votes are counted in the Virginia Democratic Primary, Barack Obama is positioned to capture a majority of convention delegates, according to SurveyUSA's final pre-primary poll, conducted for WJLA-TV Washington DC, WDBJ-TV Roanoke and WTVR-TV Richmond. Today it's Obama 60%, Clinton 38%.....

Don't get me wrong, I think it is better for the GOP if Clinton is the nominated candidate, but it is nice to see Obama putting her in her place and to see her panic, to the point where the Telegraph has reported Clinton's "plot" to get Pelosi and Reid to pressure or "persuade" Barack Obama to step down...you know, for the good of the party and all that.

Good luck with that Hill Baby.

So a note to Mr. Krugman, you can run but you cannot hide from the fact that Billary has been the ones filled with hate, playing the race card then acting like victims, which they always acted like but it has gotten old by now, playing the gender card when she thinks it can help her to show "emotion" and playing the old political game...and yet, Obama is still ahead.
