National Right To Life Endorsement Goes To Fred Thompson

I have already gotten 4 emails on this, so here you go.

According to Politico and Fox, Fred Thompson is getting the National Right To Life endorsement, which once again will change this whole race.

Fred Thompson will pick up the support of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) tomorrow, according to two Republicans familiar with the decision.

For a candidate who came up empty-handed last week when three prominent Christian conservatives endorsed GOP hopefuls and is falling in both national and early state polls, the move comes at a critical time.

NRLC is the most prominent anti-abortion group in the country, with affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters.

A spokesperson for the organization declined to comment on their endorsement decision, but Thompson was likely rewarded for his strong pro-life voting record in the Senate. As Thompson frequently touts on the stump, he rated out at 100% on the group's report card.

Hot Air:

On the other hand, Thompson does have a 100% pro-life voting record as a senator. While his language about not wanting to criminalize young girls and mothers could be mistaken for NARAL rhetoric, Thompson’s voting record is solid. Picking up the NRLC endorsement probably turns the Robertson endorsement of Giuliani into a wash, which in turn means that we’re looking at a very divided social con base in the GOP.

Stop the ACLU:

This weekend, rumors were saying that their endorsement would be going to Huckabee as well. This will be a big endorsement for Fred Thompson to gain. Critics are probably curious since NRLC likes the Human Life Amendment while Fred spoke out against it on the basis of his Federalist principles. However, it makes alot of sense to me based on the fact of Fred’s 100% pro-life record that he has touted many times.

Malkin has the NRLC flyer on the candidates’ positions.

No matter how you cut it, this is a major coup for Fred Thompson which will bring him many more votes than without this endorsement and I would not be surprised if, given this endorsement, we see others to follow in the coming days.

Good Job Fred.

OH, in case you missed it yesterday, stop by and check out "Tea and Cookies with Fred Thompson".
