MoveOn.org HELPS Petraeus and Bush

I have seen it said, I have mentioned it myself and we have dealt with the MoveOn.org's ad against General Petraeus here, here, here and here, but it seems that moderates, and yes I am separating them from the far left unhinged, moderates, do support our troops whether they agree with the mission or not.

MoveOn went too far and we are just starting to witness the ramifications of that.

This is only day 3 or 4 since the ad was published and already, the people that truly DO support our troops are showing that support and I cannot help thinking MoveOn.org, by pushing so hard and by crossing a line, has helped push those moderates into supporting General Petraeus and his stance on Iraq.

Forty-three percent (43%) of Americans favor the recommendation made by General David Petraeus to withdraw 30,000 soldiers from Iraq but leave 130,000 troops in place at least through the summer. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 38% are opposed and 19% are not sure.

The survey also found that Americans may have resigned themselves to the fact that U.S. troops are likely to remain in Iraq for a long time. Seventy-one percent (71%) say that it is somewhat or very likely that “a large number of U.S. soldiers will remain in Iraq five years from today.” That would mean a large troop presence in Iraq when the next President’s first term is drawing to a close.

Petraeus testified before Congress for two days this week and effectively recommended that the U.S. troop strength in Iraq return to levels that existed before the “surge” launched earlier in the year. President Bush is expected to endorse the Petraeus recommendation in a nationally televised address tonight.

Even President Bush's numbers have modestly, very modestly risen in these last few days.

As for the Democrats that refused to stand up and denounce MoveOn and their slanderous advertisement, as Bush's numbers rise and support for Petraeus' recommendations rise, their numbers have only one way to go...DOWN.

Perhaps that disgusting, desperate attempt on MoveOn's part to smear a General that has spent over 30's sevring his country was actually a favor in disguise.

The majority of people do not like seeing our military smeared and will, most likely, rally behind them when they are attacked for risking their life and limbs to protect this country.

I am thinking that a big thank you to MoveOn might be in order.

Isn't that a kick in the ass?

Can you say.....BACKFIRED?

[Update] Stop the ACLU has video of Fred Thompson blasting MoveOn.....Go. Watch. Scoot.
