Who Wants to be a Supervillian?

Comic books have been an intrinsic part of our culture for the past century. Social issues, political issues, have infiltrated the pages of comics in the past few decades to do more than just entertain us. For some, they help to define our moral compass.

Most children, at some point, play at being a superhero or supervillian, the superhero being a larger than life character of strong moral fiber and virtue, the supervillian being a loathsome creature with no morals and immense selfishness.

According to a great many people who fill the left wing, the "leftinistra's," this concept of the supervillian applies to George W. Bush, who, according to them, is responsible for everything from the bombings of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 9/11 to Hurricane Katrina to the Minnesota bridge collapse.

Just imagine the following imaginary report if it came from the comic book world...

Justice League Breaks Silence, New Supervillian "W" At Large

Lois Lane
Daily Planet, August 21, 2007

In an unprecedented move today, members of the Justice League called for a press conference to discuss the existence of the much rumored supervillian know only as "W."

"We have asked you here today," Superman began, taking the stage in front of the assembled press, "to make a statement regarding the existence of a new supervillian know to the public as "W." This individual is responsible for several major catastrophes around the nation. This individual should be considered extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. If seen, contact your local law enforcement, who will in turn notify the Justice League."

Questions regarding the particular crimes were handled by Wonder Woman, who stated that W is a suspect for masterminding the explosions of the World Trade Center and Pentagon, Hurricane Katrina, Global Warming, the recent Minnesota bridge collapse, the Utah mining tragedy, and his most infamous crime, Reality Television.

"W is likely from the South, often inarticulate, and prone to making jokes only he can understand," the Batman added, giving a profile of the newest supervillian. "He is prone to random bouts of stuttering and babbling and may be in the company of a henchman known as 'Dick.'"
