Do Democratic Politicians Have ANY Survival Instincts?

I keep asking myself this question. Time and again we have shown that the Democratic politicians and their supporters seem to have a death wish, a party death wish.

Earlier we showed you a wonderful piece written by Michael van der Galien at the Moderate Voice, who notices rightly that the supporters of the Democrats seem bent on destroying their party.

NOW, we see, via memeorandum, that Politico has an article showing even further self destructive tendencies coming from the Democrats.

DNC strips Fla. of delegates -- primary wouldn't count

The Democratic Party has taken a swipe at the nation's fourth biggest state, stripping Florida of all of its '08 delegates as punishment for jumping the gun with its Jan. 29 primary. Florida's early date could force other states to move up and up to stay at the front of the pack.

Under a nearly unanimous vote taken moments ago by a powerful committee of the Democratic National Committee, if things don’t change, Florida’s primary will be a "beauty contest" — the delegates won’t count toward the party’s presidential nomination.

Florida officials complained that the DNC was going to "disenfranchise voters," as it says on the state party's home page. The DNC pushed back strongly against that contention, since it has rules that Florida decided not to follow.

This is the party’s way of trying to stop the crazy domino effect of states moving their nominating contests earlier and earlier, which causes OTHER states to go earlier and earlier.

The DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee voted nearly unanimously that Florida’s plan is noncompliant with party rules, and gave the state 30 days to fix it. Otherwise, the state will lose 100 percent of its delegates.

Now, I will be the first to admit this race of primaries is ridiculous, but since it seems to be happening with or without the Democratic National Committee's blessing, penalizing the Florida delegates is absurd.

ABC reports:

Florida Democrats could lose their votes for the presidential nominee next year unless they change plans to hold their primary earlier than national party rules allow.

The Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee was poised Saturday to vote against Florida's plans for a Jan. 29 primary and to strip the state of delegate votes at the national convention in Denver next year, several party officials said.

With other states rushing to set early nominating contests, Florida offers the first test of the DNC's resolve to restore order to the schedule it set last year. Michigan and New Hampshire also are considering moving up their voting, in violation of the party rules.

Several party officials said they want to take a tough stand against Florida and send a message to other states. The shifting dates have added some uncertainty to the presidential candidates' campaign plans with the first votes to be cast in less than five months.

Advisers to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has a wide lead in Florida polls, said she will go wherever elections are held. But the DNC has threatened to penalize candidates who campaign in states that violate the rules.

CNN tells us that Sen. Bill Nelson and other Florida Democratic lawmakers are threatening to sue the DNC.

"If the Democratic National Committee sanctions Florida then some of us [in] the Florida Congressional delegation may ask an appropriate legal venue to determine whether or not a political parties rules can supersede someone’s right to vote,” Nelson said in a conference call with reporters.

I have never seen people work so hard to fight each other instead of their opposition.

Utterly amazing.
