Columbine-Style Plot Foiled on Long Island: UPDATE Explosions were part of plan

[Scroll for Updates]

I just saw this on the news and here we go again.

A pair of teens were preparing to launch a series of attacks against their Long Island, N.Y., high school that would have included homemade explosions and the shooting students and staff, police said Friday afternoon.

The Columbine-like plot was foiled when authorities received a handwritten journal on July 6 that they say was written by one of the alleged conspirators, a 15-year-old juvenile who was on long-term suspension from Connetquot High School in the Suffolk County town of Bohemia.

The 15-year-old male, whose identity was withheld by authorities because he is a minor, is in custody along with a 17-year-old, Michael McDonough, police said.

Using a search warrant, police seized the 15-year-old's computer and discovered that he had made numerous attempts and inquiries online about buying weapons -- including an Uzi automatic rifle -- and five pounds of black powder explosive.

Suspect Wrote He Would 'Start Chain Of Terrorism' On Ninth Anniversary Of Columbine Shootings

(CBS) PATCHOGUE, N.Y. CBS 2 has learned two high school students were arrested Friday after allegedly plotting to shoot staff and students at a Long Island high school and ignite explosives in the school on the ninth anniversary of the Columbine shootings.

The two suspects, ages 15 and 17, were apprehended after Suffolk County police allegedly discovered a journal detailing explicit threats targeting Connetquot High School in Bohemia.

Investigators say they found the journal on July 6 and claim it contained "numerous terrorist threats and plans" for a shooting and even bombings to take place at the school on April 20, 2008 -- nine years after the tragic school shooting in Columbine that left 12 students and a teacher dead.

The plans included threats to shoot students, staff, and to ignite homemade explosives.

"I will start a chain of terrorism in the world," the 15-year-old wrote in one of the journal entries, according to Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer. "I want to kill so many people in the war zone and the target. So many this will go down in history. Take out everyone there then turn the guns on the cops then on myself. Perfecto."

I will bring you more as it comes out.
