In the News and on the Blogs

(Welcome Jammie Wearing Fools readers, the post you are ACTUALLY looking for is here.)

A quick rundown on some good reads today.

Scouting is alive in Iraq and that might seem to be small thing to some, but to these kids it is some sanity and normalcy in an uncertain world.

Mudville Gazette brings us quite a bit of news from Iraq and Afghanistan, so head on over there.

Here is a little teaser:

...What else made this a pretty bad 10 days?? Well al Qaeda decided they wanted to come out for a few rounds. The first few days were pretty mild, except for all the stories we were hearing from people in our area. It seemed that every household you talked to had a horror story about what al Qaeda had been up to in the area for the past two months. Then around the fifth day, we were at a patrol base when about 6 of them decided to start unloading some AK fire into our house. I of course was sleeping, and awoke to the incredibly loud crack that rounds make as they snap past the air around you and impact cement. We ended up repelling that attack pretty easy with the machine guns mounted on our trucks.

Whatever you do , don't show this to Nancy Pelosi!!!!!! The vast Right Wing Conspiracy is keeping it a secret from her to make her sound like an ass every time she discusses it. It is FUN and it is working, so shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hat Tip to Take Our Country Back for pointing out that there is a 10 question quiz, no qualifications needed and no filling out forms with your name or anything, just answer the 10 questions and Bill O'Reilly will send our troops some free phone cards to call home.

It is called Operation Call Home.

Go, take the quiz, it takes about a minute and a free phone crd will be sent to our troops.

Amy Proctor has a wonderful piece up about an interview with General Petraeus.

Right Truth has her own Sunday reading list and after going through the articles, it is well worth your time to go visit her.

Tygrrrr Express has 21 questions that CNN should ask the Democrats.

Tanker Brothers has a wonderfully touching post up about Military Fathers, Mothers and Sons.

Woman Honor Thyself
has a very disturbing post, but it is a must read, so go take a look.

CBS says Lieberman wants to bomb Iran:

"I think we've got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq," Lieberman told Bob Schieffer. "And to me, that would include a strike into... over the border into Iran, where we have good evidence that they have a base at which they are training these people coming back into Iraq to kill our soldiers."

The Indepedent former Democrat from Connecticut said that he was not calling for an invasion of Iran, but he did say the U.S. should target specific training camps.

No comment at the moment from me.

Last but not least, the Soprano phenomenon at Captain's Quarters, Moderate Voice, and Jonathan Garthwaite at Townhall as well as a few others.

My prediction is, Tony will live, AJ will die and they will leave it open enough to make a movie at a later date. (Boy I could be SOOOOOOO wrong here, but this is half the fun of the show)

Enjoy your sunday reading and if you find something of interest out there on your travels, please leave a link in the comments section.

ADDITIONS:

Hot Air has a few posts of note, one about Paris Hilton's request on media coverage to focus on our troops and not her, another about the NYT and their "excuses" of why they ran the JFK Terror plot on page 30 instead of front page, and I love the title of the Lieberman piece "Video: Lieberman feeling froggy towards Iran", I have taken a liking to Allah lately.

Jules Crittenden has a look around on the ground, I have mentioned this post before and it bears repeating because it is an excellent read.

Michael P.F. van der Galiƫn has a look at some strategies we are looking at in regards to Iraq.

Israel Politik has a good piece called Israel cannot make peace alone from Ehud Olmert, the Prime Minister of Israel.

More to come as I finish my daily reads....
