GOP Blocks Gonzales Vote

Bottom paragraph first because it seems to me to be stated perfectly by Senator Trent Lott.

"This is a nonbinding, irrelevant resolution proving what? Nothing," Lott said. "Maybe we should be considering a vote of no confidence on the Senate or on the Congress for malfunction and an inability to produce anything."
The vote was 53 to 38, falling short 7 votes they needed.

Those filibusters are a bitch aren't they Dems?

That was from the AP article, which shows that once again the Senate can get nothing done because depsite the repeated promises of working in a bipartisan manner, it has only gotten worse since the Democrats took majority, not better and this congress is accomplishing less, if you can believe that, than the last congress which was Republican controlled.

Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Republicans blocked a vote of no confidence in Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Monday, dashing Democratic hopes of embarrassing Gonzales and his boss, President George W. Bush, with a formal demand for his ouster.

(Emphasis mine)

That sentence says it all. The Democrats do not want to "legislate" which they were voted in to office to do, nor clean up the corruption throughout congress which they promised to do, their sole purpose in life is to do everything in their power to "emabarrass the President.

So, nothing gets done, quite a bit of time gets wasted, no bills are being enacted and they wonder why their popularity is falling fast.

Democrats were unable to get the 60 votes they needed to overcome a procedural hurdle, gathering 53 votes in favor versus 38 against. Although some Republicans are also Gonzales critics, the party's leaders portrayed the non-binding motion as a waste of time, and Bush called it "meaningless."

So it was but they really do not care because in actuality they do not know how to do their jobs so a pile of investigations and non binding, meaningless resolutions is all they care to do for the American people.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the reason Harry "Baghdad" Reid has plummeted to a 19% favorability rating according to Rasmussen.

Other Rasmussen findings show that Obama has fallen behind Giuliani by double digits.

After several months of only narrow or moderate leads over Democratic Senator Barack Obama, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has surged to a 12-point lead over the man from Illinois. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone poss finds Giuliani with 51% of the vote to 39% for Obama.

That’s the biggest lead for Giuliani over the charismatic Democrat since December. Last month, Giuliani’s advantage was down to a single percentage point, 45% to 44%.

Slowly but surely the Democratic members of the Senate and Congress are squandering away the goodwill shown to them by electing them into the majority because they just aren't "getting it", they were voted in to get things done and all they have managed to get done, is completely embarrass themselves.

I said a while ago and I will repeat it now, the Republicans do not have to do anything but stay quiet and allow the Democrats to continuously shoot themselves in the head until the 2008 elections where the public will be so sick and tired of watching the trainwreck that is the Democratic party, that they will race to the polls to vote a Republican into the White House.

(Note to Dems: Keep up the outstanding work and THANKS)
