Good News From Iraq: Centcom News Releases

[MAJOR UPDATE BELOW]

The latest good news from Iraq that you won't be seeing in your major newspapers or on CNN.

First because it bears repeating, read Jules Crittenden's piece showing the death tolls in Iraq..... Terrorist death tolls!!!

Chuck Simmins of TDW had been toiling away diligently, recording the deaths of terrorists as reported by MNF-I flaks. Turns out, they weren’t reporting them all. Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno had a press conference recently, largely ignored by the press, in which he reported 3,184 terrorists killed since January 2007, and another 1,018 wounded. Simmins took that number, subtracted the ones he had already logged to avoid duplication, and then averaged them out over the last six months. Turns out our soldiers are killing terrorists at a rate of up to 10 to 1.

Then we have a few news releases from Centcom, updated daily and I am only showing a few from the dozens listed.

6/07/07- ISF SEIZE WEAPONS CACHE, RENDER AID TO CHILD

BALAD - Iraqi Security Forces seized a cache containing more than 1,000 pounds of weapons and explosives and rendered lifesaving aid to a child during a recent convoy patrol in Western Iraq.

With Coalition Forces present as advisors, Iraqi Forces led the patrol east of Ramadi where they heard a burst of gunfire while they were clearing and disposing of an anti-tank mine. Following the gunfire, local citizens rushed a 6 to 8-year-old girl suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound to the chest to their location.

Iraqi and Coalition Forces immediately assessed the situation and rendered lifesaving first aid on scene. After the child was stabilized, they transported her to a forward operating base for medical evacuation and surgery. She was then stabilized and transferred to Al Asad for recovery.

Iraqi Forces also discovered and disposed of more than 200 pounds of homemade explosives, a 122mm rocket, and approximately 70 projectiles of various sizes, various fuses and around 50 pounds of propellants during the patrol.

By rendering aid to a wounded child and clearing the area of weapons and explosives, Iraqi Security Forces continue to build the trust of the local populace, aiding them in their mission of keeping the area secure and free of insurgent activity.

No Iraqi or Coalition Forces were injured during this operation.

The insurgents were captured with the IED, and other IED making materials.. In addition, the insurgents were carrying three bags of drugs and medical supplies.

"The capture of these individuals is yet another step to securing our main routes and defeating the insurgents who threaten the Iraqi people and Coalition Forces," said Capt. Timothy Parrish, Iraqi Security Forces coordinator, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

6/07/07-IRAQI ARMY FORCES CAPTURE FOUR SUSPECTED AL-QAEDA TERRORISTS INI SAQLIMIYAH

BAGHDAD - Iraqi Army Forces conducted an early morning intelligence driven operation on June 6 and captured four suspected al-Qaeda terrorists in Saqlimiyah. The targeted individuals are suspected of facilitating weapons transfers to and from Fallujah, Habbiniyah and areas south.

Acting on previous intelligence, Iraqi Forces raided the residences and detained their primary targets without incident. This operation will severely disrupt the al-Qaeda network's ability to conduct operations in and around Saqlimiyah.

Coalition Forces served as advisors during the operation. No Iraqi or Coalition Forces were injured during the operation.

6/07/07- 1 KILLED, 12 DETAINED IN RAID ON AL-QAEDA NETWORK

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Coalition Forces killed one terrorist and detained 12 suspected terrorists during operations targeting the al-Qaeda in Iraq network Friday in Anbar province.

Based on information gained from an operation May 27, Coalition Forces raided several buildings northeast of Fallujah. After they announced their presence through an interpreter, one terrorist outside the building threw a hand grenade at the ground forces. Coalition Forces took appropriate self-defense measures and engaged the armed terrorist with small arms fire, killing him.

Coalition Forces searched the buildings and detained 12 suspected terrorists on scene for their alleged involvement in the al-Qaeda in Iraq network. Information gained from earlier operations indicates the suspects are involved in indoctrination for al-Qaeda in Iraq. In one ceremony conducted by the network, those who declined to join the terrorist group were killed.

"Terrorists have no place in the future of Iraq, and their elimination will help allow the people of Iraq to choose a secure future," said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson.

This is just a small sample of the news that is available to all of us, including our MSM, they simply choose to ignore it and hide it from us, the American people.

[Update] Bill Roggio has an excellent piece up showing us how we have been targeting, with great success, Iran's "Secret Cells" In Iraq.

Definitely a MUST READ piece.
