CNN's Cafferty Clueless on Iraq

Bottom Line Up Front: CNN's Jack Cafferty bashed the war in Iraq and Pres. Bush, ignoring previous interviews by military commanders and Iraqi officials on CNN.

Cafferty's comments are followed by GEN Cody's assertion that troops in Iraq believe in the mission and want seal the deal in victory.

What is ridiculous here, Cafferty, is your inability to understand foreign policy and war. Wars cannot be fought by public opinion; they certainly cannot won that way. If America is so sick and tired from this war, let them turn off their televisions and go play in air-conditioned comfort while soldiers enlist overwhelmingly to fight this war on your lazy, ignorant behalf.

It is not the President, but liberals in the media and politics who are in denial. They repeatedly cover their eyes and cover their ears whenever a soldier, an Iraqi, a commanding general or a diplomat from another country makes a coherent case or an impassioned plea for staying in Iraq. It is YOU who refuses to address the consequences of a failed Iraq, who refuses to acknowledge the progress, and who lacks the moral character to look a soldier in the eye and tell them you want their mission to fail and that you are fighting tooth and nail for defeat.

Cafferty, don’t use the Iraqi Parliament to make an ideological point. You said that:

"A majority of the Iraqi Parliament has singed a petition saying they want to decide how long the United States continues to occupy their country, and yet none of this seems to be registering with Pres. Bush. He continues to wander around in a state of denial. (Bush says that victory is) an undefined level of ongoing violence in Iraq (which) will determine when we have succeeded."

You dolt, if you followed the Iraqi Parliament at all or the interviews on your own network, you’d know that Iraq’s official policy OPPOSES a withdrawal of troops and that the "petition" you referred to is an Iraqi Security Council Resolution which reviews every six months the need for help from America and coalition forces. In fact, at the end of every 6 months, the Parliament must specifically request that coalition forces remain. The Parliament you try to use to make a point is the same Parliament you oppose.

The level of violence DOES direct the necessity for troops on the ground, Cafferty. It is idiots such as yourself who encourage al-Qaeda to keep it coming because they see your reckless words are working for their goal: a failed American mission in Iraq.

Cafferty, you're so blinded by frustration that a Commander in Chief sits as head of the Executive Branch that you forget what the Executive Branch is and what a President Constitutionally can do.... or you don't care. The President isn’t doing anything unilaterally. Twenty-six nations contribute soldiers to the effort in Iraq and more than 40 contribute contracted labor. Unilateral is a big word, but it's in the dictionary; look it up.  Look up "military occupation" while you're at it.

If you want to mislead viewers, Mr. Cafferty, expect that some of us aren't drinking your Kool Aid.
