Words from a Blue Star Mother and More

This is another mixed bag of treats.

Starting with Beth from Blue Star Chronicles, who, as she puts it, has a son in the "bowels of Baghdad."

It starts with this:

The argument regarding funding for the war on Capital Hill is frustrating for those of us with children serving in the bowels of Baghdad.

Further excerpts show this:

Nancy Pelosi declares that it’s sad that President Bush thinks that al-Qaeda is in Iraq. Even while she makes these sneering statements our Soldiers, our sons and our daughters, are fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq. High level Iraqi operatives have been captured in Iraq and the Congressmen and news media either ignore it or spend their time discussing whether or not our Troops, our sons and our daughters, will mistreat them while they are being held for questioning.

The Troops, our sons and our daughters, are having their time down range extended. In many cases indefinitely. They are having to do repeated rotations. It’s a volunteer Army, that’s their job. But doesn’t it just grate on you to hear the criticism of every move they make? Doesn’t it just make your head explode to know that news media and progressives are just waiting for one to slip up, in the fog of war, and make a mistake so they can slander the American Military for the world to hear? Don’t you want to scream at those Congressmen and tell them to quit using our sons and our daughters for their own political gain?

In yet another excerpt she says:

There is a disconnect between the people in this country and our Soldiers fighting this war. We have little to no real help from other countries. Our Soldiers are in the dangerous areas. Our Soldiers are carrying the heaviest part of the load for the Western world.

Our country forgot about 9/11. Everyone has moved on. Everyone except our enemy who still declares their intention to destroy us and the American Soldier who stands alone between them and us.

Please read her whole piece and take a look at the picture she has up.

It is not only our soldiers the Democrats are betraying by ignoring their words and emails and letters, but it is their mothers, fathers, spouses, sisters, brothers and children they are betraying.

We showed you A Soldier's Letter to America yesterday and it bears repeating today for those that missed it. (This soldier specifically asks that everyone pass this letter around)

Be my voice. I want this message heard. It is mine and my platoon’s to the country. A man I know lost his legs the other night. He is in another company in our batallion. I can no longer be silent after watching the sacrifices made by Iraqis and Americans everyday.Send it to a congressman if you have to. Send it to FOX news if you have to. Let this message be heard please…

My fellow Americans, I have a task for those with the courage and fortitude to take it. I have a message that needs not fall on deaf ears. A vision the blind need to see. I am not a political man nor one with great wisdom. I am just a soldier who finds himself helping rebuild a country that he helped liberate a couple years ago.

I have watched on television how the American public questions why their mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters are fighting and dying in a country 9000 miles away from their own soil. Take the word of a soldier, for that is all I am, that our cause is a noble one. The reason we are here is one worth fighting for. A cause that has been the most costly and sought after cause in our small span of existence on our little planet. Bought in blood and paid for by those brave enough to give the ultimate sacrifice to obtain it. A right that is given to every man, woman, and child I believe by God. I am talking of freedom.

Freedom. One word but yet countless words could never capture it’s true meaning or power. “For those who have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.” I read that once and it couldn’t be more true. It’s not the average American’s fault that he or she is “blind and deaf” to the taste of freedom. Most American’s are born into their God given right so it is all they ever know. I was once one of them. I would even dare to say that it isn’t surprising that they take for granted what they have had all their life. My experiences in the military however opened my eyes to the truth.

Ironically you will find the biggest outcries of opposition to our cause from those who have had no military experience and haven’t had to fight for freedom. I challenge all of those who are daring enough to question such a noble cause to come here for just a month and see it first hand. I have a feeling that many voices would be silenced.

I watched Cindy Sheehan sit on the President’s lawn and say that America isn’t worth dying for. Later she corrected herself and said Iraq isn’t worth dying for. She badmouthed all that her son had fought and died for. I bet he is rolling over in his grave.

Ladies and gentleman I ask you this. What if you lived in a country that wasn’t free? What if someone told you when you could have heat, electricity, and water? What if you had no sewage systems so human waste flowed into the streets? What if someone would kill you for bad-mouthing your government? What if you weren’t allowed to watch TV, connect to the internet, or have cell phones unless under extreme censorship? What if you couldn’t put shoes on your child’s feet?

You need not to have a great understanding of the world but rather common sense to realize that it is our duty as HUMAN BEINGS to free the oppressed. If you lived that way would you not want someone to help you????

The Iraqi’s pour into the streets to wave at us and when we liberated the cities during the war they gathered in the thousands to cheer, hug and kiss us. It was what the soldier’s in WW2 experienced, yet no one questioned their cause!! Saddam was no better than Hitler! He tortured and killed thousands of innocent people. We are heroes over here, yet American’s badmouth our President for having us here.

Every police station here has a dozen or more memorials for officers that were murdered trying to ensure that their people live free. These are husbands, fathers, and sons killed every day. What if it were your country? What would your choice be? Everything we fight for is worth the blood that may be shed. The media never reports the true HEROISM I witness everyday in the Iraqi’s. Yes there are bad one’s here, but I assure you they are a minuscule percent. Yet they are a number big enough to cause worry in this country’s future.

I have watched brave souls give their all and lose thier lives and limbs for this cause. I will no longer stand silent and let the “deaf and blind” be the only voice shouting. Stonewall Jackson once said, “All that I have, all that I am is at the service of the country.” For these brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice, including your son Cindy Sheehan, I will shout till I can no longer. These men and women are heroes. Their spirit lives on in their military and they will never be forgotten. They did not die in vain but rather for a cause that is larger than all of us.

My fellow countrymen and women, we are not overseas for our country alone but also another. We are here to spread democracy and freedom to those who KNOW the true taste of it because they fight for it everyday. You can see the desire in their eyes and I am honored to fight alongside them as an Infantryman in the 101st Airborne.

Freedom is not free, but yet it is everyone’s right to have. Ironic isn’t it? That is why we are here. Though you will always have the skeptics, I know that most of our military will agree with this message. Please, at the request of this soldier spread this message to all you know. We are in Operation Iraqi Freedom and that is our goal. It is a cause that I and thousands of others stand ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice for because, Cindy Sheehan, freedom is worth dying for, no matter what country it is! And after the world is free only then can we hope to have peace.

SGT Walter J. Rausch and 1st Platoon
101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

So, as asked, we are trying to be his voice.

Wapo shows us how the GOP base reacts when a Republican stabs our troops in the back.

With public opinion tilting firmly toward ending U.S. involvement in the war in Iraq, Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest (R-Md.) might have expected praise for his votes that would start to bring the troops home. Instead, at town hall meetings on the Eastern Shore, the former Marine and Vietnam combat veteran has been called a coward and a traitor.

After Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) voted for a nonbinding resolution opposing President Bush's troop increases, reaction in his district was so furious that local GOP officials all but invited a primary challenge to the reliable conservative. Inglis responded with multiple mailings to his constituents, fence-mending efforts and a video message on his House Web site pleading his case. On subsequent Iraq votes, he has not strayed from the Republican fold.

[...]

That cohesion reflects the views of the GOP's core voters, who see the war in Iraq in fundamentally different terms than Democrats and political independents do, said Andrew Kohut, director of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. Voters from those groups tend to see unremitting gloom, but Republican base voters continue to see a conflict that is going reasonably well, with a decent chance of military success.

I bring up this article because of the words of Sen. Russell Feingold (D-Wis.):

"What this is about is not who is comfortable or who is uncomfortable, whether we can all hold hands. This is about the fact . . . that American troops are dying for no good reason at this point,"

Once again showing that Feingold as well as the rest of the Democrats completely IGNORE what the troops and their families are saying....

See, to Feingold and his ilk, Freedom is NOT worth dying for, to our soldiers there is no better cause to risk life and limb and to spill blood over.

Just glance up to the Letter to America from our soldier and you will see the difference between one that is willing to DIE for another country to be free and Feingold who couldn't give a damn about Iraqi's OR their fight for freedom.

What a stunning contrast huh?

One is a politician that cares only about politics and his career and the other a soldier that puts his life on the line every day to fight for a cause HE believes is just.

Which one is IN Iraq? Which one is trying to stay in Washington?

Which one shows patriotism and which one betrays that patriotism?

Which one is witness to all the things he said in his letter to America and which one gets his facts from the media and refuses to listen to the soldiers or the commanders on the ground in Iraq.

The New York Times in the meantime, in a completely bewildering about face, has finally acknowedged that we are seeing success in Iraq due to the new strategy and the new commander, General Petraeus:

Anbar Province, long the lawless heartland of the tenacious Sunni Arab resistance, is undergoing a surprising transformation. Violence is ebbing in many areas, shops and schools are reopening, police forces are growing and the insurgency appears to be in retreat.

“Many people are challenging the insurgents,” said the governor of Anbar, Maamoon S. Rahid, though he quickly added, “We know we haven’t eliminated the threat 100 percent.”

Many Sunni tribal leaders, once openly hostile to the American presence, have formed a united front with American and Iraqi government forces against Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia. With the tribal leaders’ encouragement, thousands of local residents have joined the police force. About 10,000 police officers are now in Anbar, up from several thousand a year ago. During the same period, the police force here in Ramadi, the provincial capital, has grown from fewer than 200 to about 4,500, American military officials say.

At the same time, American and Iraqi forces have been conducting sweeps of insurgent strongholds, particularly in and around Ramadi, leaving behind a network of police stations and military garrisons, a strategy that is also being used in Baghdad, Iraq’s capital, as part of its new security plan.

Despite the Democrats best efforts to demoralize our troops and to encourage our enemies, we are seeing successes start and progress continue, which backs up what our soldiers have been telling us for weeks now via email, letters and videos.

I would also like to bring your attention to a Veteran in Nevada who has had it with Harry Reid and his betrayal of our troops while giving comfornt and encouragement to our enemies.

Harry Reid lied when he said he was “independent like Nevada” during his last campaign.

Harry Reid has not represented the majority of Nevadans since he became beholden to the lunatic fringe of the (D) party.

Harry Reid does not speak for this veteran nor many, many other Nevadan veterans.

Harry Reid’s “support” for our military has a negative sum effect on them, and therefore, he does not support the troops. Support for the troops is not about intent after all. It is about effect.

This site is solely intended to see what kind of response we can get to some ideas about retiring Senator Reid against his will. We want to share with others our disgust and contempt for Harry Reid’s politics and his message to our military.

Congress and the Senate need to get our troops their funds with no strings attached and no micromanaging.

"We shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."... John F. Kennedy

Our soldiers understand Kennedy's words.... will Congress ever?

Nancy "Damascus Diva" Pelosi's Damage

We have written much about Nancy Pelosi here and by clicking Pelosi under any of the labels below the Pelosi posts brings up a page with them all on it.

We have asked where the Democrats get their "facts" when they refuse to meet or listen to the Commander on the ground in Iraq, we have asked what side you think the democrats are really on, America's or our enemies, we have shown some of the damage that Pelosi's Polluted Politics has accomplished, we have asked if Congress is above the law, etc....

We have also shown you our soldiers words, emails, letters about Pelosi, Reid and the Democratic party in general and the damage they are doing to them.

Those can be found here, here, here, here and here as well as MANY more that can be found here.

We have shown many consequences that have occured because of Nancy Pelosi and today we are going to show you yet another bit of damage Pelosi's little trip to Syria to play footsie with al-Assad has done. (Via Atlas Shrugs)

For those who do not know who SandMonkey is, here is his goodbye post, as you will see he was a very good source as to how things were going in the Middle East.

Pam from Atlas Shrugs conducted an interview with him and in it, other ramifications from Pelosi's fumbling trip to Syria are exposed.

Atlas: Where you shocked when Hoyer met with the Muslim Brotherhood?

SANDMONKEY: Let me tell you something. I was in Turkey a couple of weeks ago and I met a couple of Syrian activists. They one thing they told me that was really funny about the Pelosi visit. After Pelosi came to Syria two things happened. People on Syrian TV were saying, "We forced the Americans to knock on the Damascus gate!" Sort of like an admission that we messed things up in Iraq so much that America had to come and beg for their help.

But the day after Pelosi's visits there were immediate arrests of Syrian activists. That was the fruit she yielded. "Oh the Americans came over and they said they have a different foreign policy and they're more interested in placating Bashar's ego." And he went out and got [arrested] everyone he wanted because he knew he had an ally in Washington that wouldn't pressure him as much.

ATLAS: Isn't that disgusting?

SANDMONKEY: Yeah, but what are you going to do?

ATLAS: We have to educate the American people. You think the American people know this?

SANDMONKEY: No, but do they even care at this point? I don't think they are interested in the discussion any more. There are people that have made up their mind, they think we need to placate the dictators because America is wrong and everyone else is always right. That's how they operate.

SANDMONKEY: What they are doing is completely irresponsible.

ATLAS: THe world is watching.........

SANDMONKEY: Of course the world is watching and the world is gloating.
Everyone wanted Bush to lose the 2004 elections. If he had lost 2004 we would not have had our push for democracy in 2005. The moment Bush won again that's when Mubarak said maybe we should have democracy because Bush didn't go away. And had Bush gone awaythere wouldn't be democracy right now ...... like there wouldn't be two years of freedom and fresh air that we were able to breathe and that' we've had.

After 2006 [elections] the change went in the opposite agenda.

Read the rest and listen to the interview yourself to understand that what happens here in America has serious ramifications all over the world and especially in the Middle East.

Just a little MORE damage that Pelosi has done in her quest to usurp the position of Secretary of State with her failed "shuttle diplomacy" as well as her desire to overstep and try to act like Congress was voted into the White House.

Diplomacy works slowly for a reason, our diplomats understand that they must tread lightly and must come up with reasonable plans that do not solve one problem while creating a dozen more.

A diplomat understands that it is better to work slowly and carefully than to risk doing damage to a whole region simply to win one point.

Pelosi is her careless, reckless, dangerous way, like a bull in a china shop, marched in to Syria without thought of consequences and decided to push her own foreign policy and attempted to do a diplomats job, in doing so she managed to give the WRONG message to Syria from Israel to which Israel had to immediately issue a correction, and like a pebble in a pond, the ripple effect started.

I do not think the SandMonkey's words will be the last words of people in the Middle East that will tell us of how those ripples have effected them and how much damage Pelosi managed to accomplish is one single trip.

Americans do need to realize that what happens here does, indeed, have consequences around the world.

Goodbye SandMonkey, I have enjoyed your blog, admired your bravery for speaking out even though it put you in danger and I thank you for everything you have done and pray you will be safe.

Raise Your Voice

Posted: 29 Apr 2007 01:47 PM CDT

April 28, 2007 UNC Chapel Hill, N.C.
Mission: Raise Your Voice

Report by Ross ‘Bubba’ McDowell - GOE member and supporter

Perhaps for the first time ever, a group of patriots went to the North Carolina Moonbat Head-quarters - Chapel Hill - to deliver a message of pro-American, pro-Conservative, pro-Military hope and faith in the American way. This message was delivered in the heart of a liberal univeristy campus. It was delivered loudly, firmly and with conviction.

Although our numbers were not what we had hoped for, the objective was realized none the less. In a place dominated by the liberal mind, patriots stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Patriots stood with covered hearts for the National Anthem. Patriots stood and listened to the words and songs of fellow patriotic Americans, including Vietnam and Iraq Veterans.

Some wept.

So, did the liberals and moonbats listen? Probably not. Did we change any minds? Probably not. Did we make a difference today? Most definately so.
The American left has enjoyed unchallenged freedom of speech for decades. Today, hundreds, maybe thousands of liberal minded or liberal influenced knew that the voices being raised were not damning America, not calling for impeachment, not hoping for defeat. The voices they heard today proclaimed the nobility of America, the honor and gratitude owed to the American soldier and the less than honorable and sometimes traitorous behavior of our brethren on the left.

Maybe, just maybe the next time some of them pick up there ‘impeach’ or ‘bush lied’ signs in preparation for another anti-war hissy fit - the words of patriots will ring in their ears, minds and hearts.
Perhaps at least one of them will decide they need to open their minds to the possibility that they have been acting on and repeating the lies of traitors. If so, then ….

Mission Accomplished

This one is just for the troops...

To all of you out there who read our blogs, you know you have our gratitude and our continuing support. Once in a while some knucklhead comes out with "if you want to show your support for our troops, why don't you do something besides paying lip service to it?" We are. We put your words out there for people to see them, to read them, to know what your thoughts are, your opinions, your feelings. We're proud of you, and of the job you are doing.

Well done.

For those of you who haven't seen this yet, there is a site with a petition for you to sign, those of you in uniform, that I'm going to pass along. It was mentioned in the Day by Day strip that we post here on the blog, so some of you may have gotten it there; for those of you who didn't, click here.

Again, I salute you as a veteran, and I KNOW I speak for our other contributors in saying God bless you all, and thank you for your service to our nation.

Once and Always, an American Fighting Man

A Soldier’s Letter to America

Cross Posted from Yankeemom as requested by the soldier that sent the letter.

No further explanation required ~

A LETTER WORTH READING

NRA update 29APR07

NRA-ILA Grassroots Alert Vol. 14, No. 17 04/27/07

NRA STATEMENT ON LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS ON CAPITOL HILL

Recent reports in the Washington Post, Newsweek and other media outlets are fanning Internet rumors regarding the NRA's position concerning legislation currently being discussed in Congress in the aftermath of the horrific crimes that occurred at Virginia Tech.

The NRA has a long history of supporting measures to keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals and those who have been adjudicated by a court as mentally incompetent, and we will continue to do so. We will also continue our efforts to make sure that the National Instant Background Check System (NICS) is accurate, fair, and instant by seeking changes to permanently ensure that no fee is associated with the check, that system outages are minimized, and that our men and women in uniform who have served our country honorably are not unjustly denied their constitutional rights. As always, the NRA is committed to ensuring that any proposal does not infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

It is impossible to predict right now what any final bill will look like; therefore, we will withhold judgment until we see a final product. However, the NRA will continue to work with Members of Congress throughout the process to ensure that any changes to the NICS benefit lawful gun purchasers while ensuring that those adjudicated by the courts as mentally incompetent are included in the system.

Including necessary records on prohibited persons into the NICS is a position we have long supported. However, history has shown that no law will stop a madman intent on doing evil.

The NRA believes that our schools are not adequately protected. Therefore, we believe a national conversation on school security is necessary, and we look forward to those discussions and finding meaningful solutions to keep America's children safe.

THE VIEW'S NO LONGER ROSIE: One of the shrillest anti-gun celebries, Rosie O'Donnell, who often used her spot on T.V. talk-show The View as a platform for her anti-gun blathering, recently failed to agree to terms of a contract extension and, thankfully, will be leaving the show.

GATEWAY TO SUCCESS! St. Louis Annual Meetings Shatter Records! As we reported in the April 13 edition of the Grassroots Alert, the NRA-ILA Grassroots Workshop, held that day in conjunction with NRA's Annual Meetings & Exhibits in St. Louis, Mo., was a tremendous success, with more than 200 pro-gun patriots in attendance!

The following day, Saturday, April 14, the ILA Grassroots Division rolled out its inaugural special session, called "In Their Own Words." The timing couldn't have been better, as prior to the session, those who attended NRA's Annual Meeting of Members were treated to rousing speeches by NRA's officers, and got to participate in conducting the official business of the Association.

Based on the success we enjoyed in St. Louis this year, we are already excited to head to Louisville, Kentucky for the 2008 Annual Meetings. We hope to see you there!

Political Games

For those that do not think that the latest idiocy surrounding the highly touted (on the left, anyway) emergency war funding bill that just passed the house and the senate was just a political game being played with our troops funding just has to look at this next article to prove our point. (Hat Tip to Kathywms from Victory Caucus)

Democrats Turn to GOP on New Iraq Bill....BEFORE it is even vetoed.

Democratic leaders are turning to Republicans to help them pass a new Iraq war spending bill that President Bush won't veto - unlike the one Congress will send him next week with a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops.

Bush repeated his promise Friday to veto the war spending bill and any such measure with a pullout date, even as Democrats renewed their calls for the president to sign the $124.2 billion bill.

"If the Congress wants to test my will as to whether or not I'll accept the timetable for withdrawal, I won't accept one," Bush declared.

At the same time, both sides were laying the groundwork for a high-stakes, post-veto negotiation. The president invited Democrats and Republicans to the White House next Wednesday to talk about it, and leaders in both parties said they would attend.

Democrats were already looking for ways to draw Republican support for a new spending measure, knowing they would need GOP votes to pass any bill that Bush would sign. However, a move to water down the withdrawal language is virtually certain to cost them the votes of liberal Democrats who have been uneasy about supporting any war funding.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has talked to Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the minority leader, about how to move forward. Senior House leadership aides have held "very preliminary" discussions with White House staffers about post-veto negotiations, although House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has not yet reached out to GOP leaders on the issue, one official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the talks were not public.

Still, as they hunted for the votes to pass their Iraq bill earlier this week, Democratic leaders were quietly reaching out to some moderate Republicans on a backup plan. They would need GOP votes to pass a new war funding measure once Bush executed his veto, Democrats told the Republicans, and they wanted to start assembling a bipartisan group that could write one.

I have said a hundred times and I will keep saying it, what an incredible waste of time to pass a bill that you KNOW will be vetoed just to "send a message" and to pander to your far left base, the whole time delaying funds that our troops need.

Politics is more important to the Democrats than our soldiers lives, their letters, their emails and their words.

They can claim to be as patriotic as they want, but I will not believe them until they start putting our soldiers lives BEFORE their own careers.

Afghanistan: Kicking Talibans ASS

There a couple of articles worth noting today but I will save those for a different post, this deserves to be shown on its own.

Please note that at the moment it is the Telegraph UK that is reporting it, our media hasn't gotten around to delving into the details yet, it seems.

The good news according to OUR media must always be countered by bad news, yet when writing the bad news our media rarely, if ever, feels that balance should go both ways to include the good news.

Media bias and those that claim it doesn't exist live in a fantasy world.

Back to the article, it seems our forces have become aggressive which has stalled the Talibans touted "spring offensive" against our coalition troops as shown in a planned ambush against our forces that went horribly wrong ....for the Taliban.

Caught in the middle of the Helmand river, the fleeing Taliban were paddling their boat back to shore for dear life.

Smoke from the ambush they had just sprung on American special forces still hung in the air, but their attention was fixed on the two helicopter gunships that had appeared above them as their leader, the tallest man in the group, struggled to pull what appeared to be a burqa over his head.

As the boat reached the shore, Captain Larry Staley tilted the nose of the lead Apache gunship downwards into a dive. One of the men turned to face the helicopter and sank to his knees. Capt Staley's gunner pressed the trigger and the man disappeared in a cloud of smoke and dust.

By the time the gunships had finished, 21 minutes later, military officials say 14 Taliban were confirmed dead, including one of their key commanders in Helmand.

The mission is typical of a new, aggressive, approach adopted by American forces in southern Afghanistan and particularly in Helmand, where British troops last year bore the brunt of some of the heaviest fighting since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.

American commanders believe that the uncompromising use of airpower in recent weeks has been a key factor in preventing the Taliban from launching their expected full-scale spring offensive against coalition forces and forcing them to rethink their tactics.

Yeahhhhhhh!!!! Now THIS is what I am talking about.

Aircrews say they have been told to show no mercy, but to press home their advantage until all their targets have been destroyed. The Apache attack was one of five in three days in -Helmand, where British troops operate alongside a much smaller contingent of American infantry and special forces.

Capt Staley, the commander of the Apache unit based at Kandahar airfield, described how his helicopters had arrived just after an ambush by Taliban fighters with rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machine guns, on a detachment of American special forces and an infantry unit. In the second Apache, 1st Lt Jack Denton, 26, was in radio contact with the special forces unit, Scorpion 36, on the ground.

The soldiers said they had information that the Taliban were escaping across the river. "Look out for any boats," they said. He spotted a small aluminium fishing boat pushing out from the eastern shore of the 200-yard-wide river. In it were six or seven people. When they caught sight of the Apaches, they started to paddle back towards shore.

Read the rest and make sure you listen to the video that accompanies this article.

In looking around the web for other writings about this I ran across this from EU Referendum, which really should be read but the money quote is this:

The Americans at least have come to terms with the objectives of fighting an insurgency. You do not negotiate with your enemies. You kill them.

Too bad Pelosi hasn't grasped that concept yet, if she had, she might not have made a complete ass of herself playing footise with al-Assad of Syria.

Exactly. It tooks too long but eventually we came to understand this and are acting on it.

It is called counterinsurgency and damn well should have been put into action in Afghanistan and Iraq well before now, but looking back helps no one and just keeps confusing the issues at hand NOW and this is the strategy that must continue whereever we are fighting al-Qaeda, the Taliban or any other enemy.

Chalk one up for our troops in Afghanistan.

Quick Update from Gateway Pundit " Iranian Regime Is "Proud to Be Democrat"

7/7 ‘mastermind’ is seized in Iraq

The perfect example presented itself this morning, of Media Bias in America.

People try to deny it but usually those are the same people that suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome, as does Wapo and NYT which we have shown dozens of examples of over the past months.

Here is another example, see the title of this piece, that comes from TimesOnline, and here is the story that goes with it... following that you will see how Wapo and NYT headlines it.

The al-Qaeda leader who is thought to have devised the plan for the July 7 suicide bombings in London and an array of terrorist plots against Britain has been captured by the Americans.

Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a former major in Saddam Hussein’s army, was apprehended as he tried to enter Iraq from Iran and was transferred this week to the “high-value detainee programme” at Guantanamo Bay.

Abd al-Hadi was taken into CIA custody last year, it emerged from US intelligence sources yesterday, in a move which suggests that he was interrogated for months in a “ghost prison” before being transferred to the internment camp in Cuba.

Abd al-Hadi, 45, was regarded as one of al-Qaeda’s most experienced, most intelligent and most ruthless commanders. Senior counter-terrorism sources told The Times that he was the man who, in 2003, identified Britain as the key battleground for exporting al-Qaeda’s holy war to Europe.

Abd al-Hadi recognised the potential for turning young Muslim radicals from Britain who wanted to become mujahidin in Afghanistan or Iraq into terrorists who could carry out attacks in their home country. He realised that their knowledge of Britain, possession of British passports and natural command of English made them ideal recruits. After al-Qaeda restructured its operations in Pakistan’s tribal areas he sought out young Britons for instruction at training camps. In late 2004 Abd al-Hadi met Mohammad Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, from Leeds, at a militant camp in Pakistan and, in the words of a senior investigator, “retasked them” to become suicide bombers.

They were sent back to Britain where they led the terrorist cell that carried out the 7/7 bombings, killing 52 Tube and bus passengers.

Pakistani intelligence sources said that Abd al-Hadi was also in contact with Rachid Rauf, a Birmingham man now in prison in Pakistan and alleged to be a key figure in last summer’s alleged plot to blow up transatlantic airliners in mid-flight.

Abd al-Hadi has also been linked to a number of other foiled al-Qaeda plots to carry out attacks in Britain. But the Security Service, which has previously sent officials to question detainees at Guantanamo Bay, may not have the opportunity to question him directly.

The Government’s recently adopted position in favour of closing Guantanamo Bay is likely to act as a bar on agents travelling there. British Intelligence would have to rely on relaying questions it would like asked by American interrogators.

Security sources said they assessed Abd al-Hadi as a key operational commander, high up the chain in the al-Qaeda structure who was behind many key plots in the UK.

He had a close link with another arrested al-Qaeda figure and, the sources said, would have “a wealth of information”. He is thought to have been in contact with Osama bin Laden before his capture and might be able to provide information about his leader’s whereabouts.

Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman, said that Abd al-Hadi had been classified as a “high-value detainee” at Guantanamo, and joined 14 others, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind, as the most senior terror suspects at the Cuba prison.

Mr Whitman refused to say when or where he was captured, or by whom. “Abd al-Hadi was trying to return to his native country, Iraq, to manage al-Qaeda's affairs and possibly focus on operations outside Iraq against Western targets,” Mr Whitman said.

He added that he was a key al-Qaeda paramilitary leader in Afghanistan in the late 1990s, and between 2002 and 2004 led efforts to attack US forces in Afghanistan with terrorist units based in Pakistan.

In a lecture this week Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, commander of Sctoland Yard’s Counter-Terrorism Command, said that the central al-Qaeda leadership was behind a spate of terror plots against Britain.

He said: “We have seen how al-Qaeda has been able to survive a prolonged multinational assault on its structures, personnel and logistics. It has certainly retained its ability to deliver centrally directed attacks here in the UK. In case after case, the hand of core al-Qaeda can be clearly seen.”

Sources said last night that few figures had been more important at the centre of the revived al-Qaeda. Abd al-Hadi is credited with forming its alliance with the insurgency in Iraq.

US officials said he was associated with leaders of other extremist groups allied with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan, including the Taleban.

Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit, told The Times that catching Abd al-Hadi was important but that it did not spell the end of al-Qaeda.

He said Abd al-Hadi had been an important figure in developing al-Qaeda’s strategy in the insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan and also helped to redirect its terrorist strategy in Europe.

Mr Scheuer, a senior fellow at the Jamestown Foundation in Washington, said: “It is a blow for al-Qaeda, especially in Iraq, where it will have consequences.

“But al-Qaeda always plans for succession, and there will have been someone lined up to take his place. It is nonsense to think that al-Qaeda is dead.”

This is the man we caught and just transferred to Gitmo.

Here is how OUR media chooses to headline this important capture:

C.I.A. Held Qaeda Leader in Secret Jail for Months

CIA Held Al-Qaeda Suspect Secretly

Bush Derangement Syndrome ladies and gentlemen in its unguarded form.

Don Surber caught the ommission immediately as shown in his title "London bombings? What London bombings?".

The U.S. announced on Friday that it captured the mastermind behind the 7/7/2005 bombings in London.

But you would not know it by reading the New York Times, the Washington Post or the Associated Press.

None of them mentioned the London bombings in reporting on the capture of the man who organized that attack, Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi (aka, Abu Abdallah).

Instead, reporters concentrated on where this major player in the war on terrorism was held after his capture.

Incredible.

Not really surprising though is it Don?

Seems that either Wapo's or the NYT reporters were too lazy to get the story on who this guy is or they simply didn't care because capturing a terrorist means NOTHING compared to another chance to cover old ground with a political agenda and show off their BDS.

They prove our point once again.

Instapundit
makes a very good point also here:

Hey, wait -- an "al-Qaeda leader" who's also a "former major in Saddam Hussein's army"? But I thought there was no connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda. Or between Al Qaeda and Iran

On his update he points to a comment from Captain's Quarters:

Ed Morrissey comments: "All of these papers had hours after the Times of London report to get the London bombings into the story. The Times goes to bed at 7 pm ET and hits the feeds and wire services. None of the American media bothered to check on Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi. Readers should ask themselves whether that comes from a lack of intellectual curiosity, or whether it comes from a bias that puts the circumstances of the detention of a terrorist at a higher priority than the terrorism itself."

Ya think?

Thats what Bush Derangement Syndrome does to people, they suddenly become more concerned with a terrorists "rights" that the rights of the victims that he killed.

They care more where he is held, than the crimes he committed.

They care more about bashing our administration than reporting the actual news of who this man is and what he has done.

Media Bias folks in its finest moment.

From other headlines we can see that they also care more about who is screwing who and who has been paying for it!!!! (OH MY), instead of doing some actual research into who Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi is and what he has done.

Once again our media disappoints but also proves everything we have been saying about them this whole time.

This type of reporting is the reason that papers such as the NYT is showing declining profits they blame on lack of advertisers, well of course their profits are suffering, and their advertisers are going elsewhere, their paper cannot be trusted, especially after the fiasco of showing a soldiers death ON VIDEO before his family had even been notified, not to mention the leaks the often report without regard for our troops safety in the field.

These are among the long list of reasons that the liberal media is suffering decling profits and will continue in their downward spiral.

They cannot be trusted anymore.

Sad, but they keep proving it, so true.

[Update from commenter Bob] Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your HONOR. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse."

Welcome Maggie from Maggies Notebook

I see Maggie beat me to the punch, thats the problem with being in Arizona, I am behind in time.

Oh well, Maggie from Maggies Notebook is our new contributor and please welcome her to the blog.

Her first two pieces can be found here and here, both dealing with the ACLU.

There is so much going on in todays world andI feel it is important to deal with subjects that we find useful but there is only 24 hrs in a day and too many subjects for one person to do justice to, therefore I asked Maggie if she would deal with the problem of the ACLU at Wake up America, because she stays on top of that topic, does quite a bit of research and puts it all together in a very comprehensive form.

So Maggie, welcome and thank you for agreeing to help spread the word through Wake up America, which I know takes time from your schedule and your blog, yet you willingly agreed because you think the cause is just.

Now,everyone, go take a look at Maggie's Blog, browse around and enjoy!!!

Judge Antonin Scalia Debates ACLU President on Morality

Originally posted at Maggie's Notebook

A visit to Truth and Consequences brought the wisdom of our founders to mind with a wonderful flash video: Our Leaders on God. There, I found this from John Adams"
"[I]t is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure, than they have it now, they may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting liberty. - John Adams
The following video is Part 2 of a debate between Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and ACLU President Nadine Strossen. This video series, "Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick, sheds a bright light on the ACLU's view of morality.

Scalia, in Part 1, debates Strossen against looking to international law for guidance in American Law, Judge Scalia argues that the American people, both now and in 1791, are not the same people as the French or the German - either then or now. Strossen believes the Constitution and the Bill of Rights should change with the times and attitudes.

Watch Part 2 of this debate below. I find the issue of "morality," and Strossen's view of morality and the Constitution, pertinent to much of what is going on in the ACLU today. Scalia has a firm message for the ACLU and those hoping to change the interpretation of this country's founding documents.

To emphasize what seems to me to be Strossen's point: moral judgments should not be a part of criminal law. Scalia's point is: "persuade your fellow Americans" if you want to change things. Using the "incest" example in the video, John Adams words are screaming: We cannot trust decisions, made outside a consideration of morality, to be good judgment, because without morality - "...a pure virtue," and the intention to do good, and not do harm, law is not trustworthy. Guarding our morality is America's biggest challenge, because it is our morality that guards our liberty.

For more on the ACLU, and ACLU President Nadine Strossen, in the news today (or not, depending on what you consider news - bloggers vs. MSM) read about Strossen's silence on the conviction of her Chief Aide for child endangerment (online sexual chatting with a 12 year old boy who turned out to be a police investigator). For the original, in-depth article, go here (also includes a video of Bill O'Reilly reporting on the ACLU and sex crimes).

ACLU President: Conviction of Chief Aide?

Originally posted at Maggie's Notebook

Nadine Strossen
Professor of Law
President, American Civil
Liberties Union (ACLU)
UPDATE: ACLU President Nadine Strossen's office is still dodging confirmation of her Chief Aide's conviction of explicit sexual online chatting, and attempting to arrange a meeting with a 12 year old boy, who was actually a police investigator.

Another telephone call to Strossen's office this morning: no statement. I was told someone would "...get back to me."The direct phone number to Professor/ACLU President Nadine Strossen is 212-431-2375; this from the New York Law School page where Steven C. Cunningham still appears as Strossen's Chief Aide.

Last week I was referred to an attorney: Dale Liebeck (sp???) 202-207-3630 for a statement. I did speak with Mr. Liebeck and he said he would get back to me. No return call, of course. Another call to him this a.m. left only an option for voicemail. I left a message.

THERE IS NO PRESS ON THIS:
Several bloggers are attempting to find reporting of this connection to Strossen's office. It appears there is not one report in the main stream media - NOT ONE. Nothing from New York media, where resides the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) headquarters. Nothing in the New York Daily News, The New York Post, the Wall Street Journal, New York Sun or the New York Observer - at least that I can find. The The Jersey Journal did the original reporting. Cunningham lost his license to practice law in New Jersey, BUT, he is still licensed in the state of NEW YORK.

Nadine Strossen did not commit this crime, so does it really matter that no one is confirming this or even reporting it? Well, I think it does and I've given my reasons in an earlier post. For all the details plus information on another ACLU board-member-arrest on child porn charges against a high-ranking, former, but still closely-connected, ACLU chapter president, read: ACLU President Silent on Chief Aide's Conviction.

I've also forwarded this information to Bill O'Reilly.

First Amendment vs Political Correctness update

This was forwarded to me in email, and has been checked out to be true at Snopes.com.

OUTSTANDING!

Hooray for Michigan State University

Tells Muslims to Leave Country Hooray for Michigan State University!

Well, what do we have here? Looks like a small case of some people being able to dish it out, but not take it.

Let's start at the top. The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indrek Wichman. Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's Association. The e-mail was in response to the students' protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The group ha d complained the cartoons were "hate speech."

Enter Professor Wichman. In his e-mail, he said the following:

Dear Moslem Association: As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest. I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called "whores" in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France. This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many, many of my colleagues. I counsel your dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems to be very aware of this as you proceed with your infantile "protests." If you do not like the values of the West - see the 1st Amendment - you are free to leave. I hope for God's sake that most of you choose that option. Please return to your ancestral homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.

Cordially, I. S. Wichman Professor of Mechanical Engineering

As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn't like this too well. They're demanding that Wichman be reprimanded and mandatory diversity training for faculty and a seminar on hate and discrimination for freshman. Now the c hapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray. CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn't believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion.

For its part, the university is standing its ground, saying the e-mail was private, and they don't intend to publicly condemn his remarks. That will probably change. Wichman says he never intended for his e-mail to be made public, and wouldn't have used the same strong language if he'd known it was going to get out.

How's the left going to handle this one? If you're in favor of the freedom of speech, as in the case of Ward Churchill, will the same protections be demanded for Indrek Wichman? I doubt it.

Send this to your friends, and ask them to do the same. Tell them to keep passing it around until the whole country gets it. We are in a war. This political correctness crap is getting old and killing us.

All I can say to this is HOOOWAH!

Terrorist Idol

I receive updates, alerts and news stories from damn near every paper, blog feeds and such. I go through them, decide what I do and don't want to follow up on, research, verify and then write about them.

It has become like a second job, one I do because I want to.

With that said, it isn't often I directly cross post things I get in the email or requests to post on a particular subject until after I have done the research for it, BUT, I sooooooooooooo loved this, I just had to show it to my readers.

From World Net Daily: Terrorist Idol!!!!

Producers of the pop culture phenomenon "American Idol" know that they need good edgy human drama (alternating between personal achievement and total abject humiliation) to attract the tens of millions of viewers who tune in to the Fox TV show each week.

Apparently, those in the "Blame America First" crowd believe that they, too, must provide fresh, new material every week in their efforts to undermine the war on terrorism.

They're not just advocating surrender in Iraq. They're ready to run from the frontlines in Afghanistan waving a white flag. And don't even mention the threat from Iran – to the appeasement crowd, the British response to their sailors being taken hostage by the Iranians was too harsh. You'll recall the British response was to do absolutely nothing except possibly instigate the release of a top Iranian terror agent in Iraq.

Forget "American Idol"; each week we could put together an episode of "Terrorist Idol," showcasing the most insipid examples of the defeat-retreat-surrender antics from the apologists on the Left who believe we should only fight terrorism with appeasement and contrition.

Now, I present to you the contestants for the first-week pilot.

Contestant 1: Harry Reid performing 'Born to Run'

The debut week of "Terrorist Idol" would certainly have to feature the Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who led the push to cut off funding of U.S. troops fighting al-Qaida and their aligned terrorist allies in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

With over 100,000 U.S. troops currently serving in harm's way, Reid not only orchestrated the move to cut off funding for our troops, but he announced to America's enemies that they had won.

Reid told the American people last Thursday, "I believe ... that this war is lost."

It would be fitting for Sen. Reid to perform Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" for the first week of "Terrorist Idol," lamenting the struggles faced in Baghdad:

Baby, this town rips the bones from your back
Its a death trap, its a suicide rap
We gotta get out while were young
`cause tramps like us, baby, we were born to run

Go to World Net Daily and see who the other two contestants are...it is a riot!!!!
