The United States of the Offended...

Robert Rayford of the Big Show (aka the John Boy and Billy show) coined the phrase the United States of the Offended in reference to all the whining and bitching and moaning that goes on in our country, especially regarding things traditionally Christian.

Like it or not, want to ADMIT it or not, our nation WAS founded on Christian principles. Revisionist historians try desperately to try to convince us that the founding fathers were all deists, not necessarily Christians, but I have to say, in all my research, in all the reading that I've done, I find nothing, absolutely nothing to support this claim. George Washington was a member of the Church of England, which became the Anglican Church after the Revolution. John Adams was a Unitarian, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin WERE deists, Samual Adams a Puritan, Aaron Burr a Presbyterian, so forth and so on. In OTHER words, they came from as great a variety of backgrounds as we come from today in their beliefs.

That being said, take a look around the country, any time, any place, and what do you see? Churches, no matter the denomination. I pass by as many as ten to twenty churches on a daily basis in my work.

As I said to someone the other day, it amazes me how that Jesus Christ, a man who lived his life trying to teach a message of peace and of brotherly love (along with his message of service to God) inspires such vile hatred.

It further amazes me how that ten simple little common sense rules of morality cause such a stir and such controversy. This was forwarded to me in email and I thought I would share it:

Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Please read the poem he wrote.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama. Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama. The judge's poem sums it up quite well.

America the Beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.

Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine
choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain

From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray.

We've kept God in our temples,
how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.

We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges;
who throw reason out the door,

Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb

You think that God's not angry,
that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:

Then God will hear from Heaven;
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful,
if you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee.

~~Judge Roy Moore~~

This says it all. May we all forward this message and offer our prayers for Judge Moore to be blessed and for America to wake up and realize what we need to do to keep OUR America the Beautiful.

Pass this on and let's lift Judge Moore up in prayer.
He has stood firm and needs our support.

IN GOD WE TRUST

As I said the other day, I've spent a lot of time the past few years seeking both the questions and answers for my own life. I find that it's an ongoing search, an ongoing quest. However, I'm starting to come to terms, I think, with certain issues regarding faith, particularly my own. Whatever your faith is, if you have any at all, I think we can all agree: there is no one of us who has it absolutely right. Why can those who do not believe simply let those who do live in peace and quiet without showing their asses and claiming "offended status" at something that simply says, when you break it down into it's basic message, "respect one another." Perhaps respect is something that they are lacking...
