Breaking my own new years resolution

In a break from Wake up America Policy (I wrote it, I can break it if I want), I am going to quote from (OH NO) the Associated Press.

I do this because they have two stories out that are absolutely laughable when put together, especially since they have always shown their dislike for the Bush administration and watching them forced to report good news about Iraq is too good to pass up.

First we have the headline "Civilian deaths in Iraq drop overnight"

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The number of Iraqi civilians killed in Baghdad's sectarian violence fell drastically overnight, an Iraqi military official said Friday, crediting the joint U.S.-Iraqi security operation that began in force just days ago.

Iraqi army Brig. Gen. Qassim Moussawi, a spokesman for the Baghdad commander, said only 10 bodies had been reported by the morgue in the capital, compared to an average of 40 to 50 per day.

"This shows a big reduction in terror and killing operations in Baghdad," he said on Iraqi state television.

Second headline is "Dems vow to change direction of Iraq war"

Democrats pushed a measure critical of President Bush's Iraq policy to the brink of House passage on Friday, the culmination of an extraordinary four-day debate over a war that has killed more than 3,100 U.S. troops.

"The passage of this legislation will signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) said in prepared remarks, endorsing the measure that takes issue with Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 U.S. troops into battle.

Republicans battled to the end against the measure, saying resolve is more important than resolutions and warning against the follow-up measures that some Democrats advocate to force a change in policy.

"There are serious consequences to our national security if we fail in Iraq," said Rep. Steve Chabot (news, bio, voting record), R-Ohio. "Cutting off funding, limiting military options, or pushing for immediate withdrawal will only make our future more dangerous. It is time to stop the politics, stop the games, stop the finger pointing and do what is best for America."

See the conundrum?

Lets look at the headlines together here:

"Civilian deaths in Iraq drop overnight"
"Dems vow to change direction of Iraq war"

Well YEAHHHHHH, I guess if the this new strategy is working, the Dems have to move quickly to stop that!!!!!!!!

Success is bad right? No? Well, the Dems seem to think it is.

Now, this latest article from the AP, is not all I am talking about here, as I showed in "And They Said It Wouldn't Work....NewsFlash" and "They Said It Wouldn't Work....NewsFlash #2", we showed al-Qaeda issuing orders to their members to retreat in advance of the "surge" and we showed al-Sadr's Group the Mahdi Army slithering off into the night, once again, because of the "surge" that was expected, we now have al-Sadr hiding in Iran and as I posted about this morning, the new security plan is cracking down on militias from both the Sunni AND the Shiites.

With all of this happening and finally being shown in our mainstream media, it makes the second headline from today even more laughable:

"Dems vow to change direction of Iraq war"

Two quick points here: First, I have no doubt that the insurgents and terrorists are backing off to find the chinks in this new strategy, so they can figure out a way to cause chaos that won't get them killed or captured....they will adjust and then we will have to adjust again...that IS what insurgency is basically made up from.

Second quick point: This non binding resolutions the house is passing, even in the face of the success we are visibly seeing can be shot right down in the Senate with 40 Republican votes.

All in all, by the time the Democrats and some wobbly Republicans are able to pass anything that could make some sort of a difference, and if the news continues to keep coming out about success, how do they intend to backtrack then?

One has to wonder if they have their own "exit strategy", because if they do not then all it is beginning to look like is the Liberals are trying to stop the success we are seeing daily on the ground.

For your reading the LA Times has an excellent piece about Mark Daily and his reasons for joining the fight to help the Iraqi's:

Mark Daily wrote on MySpace that he joined the Army to help the suffering people of Iraq. In death, his words have become a call to service.

Go. Read the words of one of our fallen soldiers and his reasons for giving his life in Iraq.

It is well worth the read and an inspiration to us all.
