Voting Problems Already Starting.

I Voted....did you?

Election Coverage Page is being updated ALL day. Updates will be listed on top of page. So keep checking back throughout the day.

Live coverage at TTLB starting at 8 pm Eastern.

Honolulu Adviser is reporting: Big Island election officials were rushing a new electronic voting machine to the polling place at E.B DeSilva School in Hilo today, after the lone machine at the polling place malfunctioned.

"We've had some machine problems. That one polling place had a hard time getting its voting machine to work, and we're trying to get another one to them," said Big Island County Clerk Connie Kiriu.

Sister Toldjah is also reporting problems.

Illinois: Some people voting in today's election say they ran into problems with the state's new electronic voting equipment.

An Illinois State Board of Elections official says the board's phone lines have been swamped with calls from voters complaining that poll workers were unsure how to handle the new machines.

Idaho, Boise: Voting Machines for Disabled Fail.--The majority of machines to help disabled voters didn't work Tuesday morning, according to poll workers. According to Precinct 94 Chief Judge Harold Whageman says 75% of the Automark voting systems in Ada County wouldn't operate correctly when poll workers tried to set them up in their precincts.

New Jersey: Dirty Tricks? In New Jersey, Republican Tom Kean Jr.'s campaign office was reportedly vandalized. A chain and padlock was placed on the front door and keys were broken off in the locks at the side entrances.

"It appears the Democrats have already resorted to Election Day dirty tricks," said Kean campaign manager Evan Kozlow, who said the "desperate ploys" will not prevent the campaign "from informing voters that Bob Menendez is under federal criminal investigation and is unfit to serve in the United States Senate."

Iowa Voice has even MORE problems on election day.

Arkansas: Garland County, more voting problems.

Charles Tapp, chairman of the Garland County Election Commission, said Tuesday that voting "is not going smoothly" and that three technicians and three commissioners are working to correct problems.

Voting is “not going smoothly,” Tapp said. “It’s not going the way it should. … We put out one fire and we head to another one. It’s not the kind of election I’d like, but we’re working on it. And it’s going to get better in the future. I think they’re good machines. There’s just some kinks we’ve got to work out.”

RedState shows that a New Mexico district is 2300 ballots short in a district of 2400.

At Bernalillo County precinct 603 in Albququerque's NE Heights - where there are over 2400 registered voters, [Mary] Herrera (who is also running for Secretary of State) only sent over 150 ballots. They ran out. A long time ago.

At a press conference today, Republicans called on Dem Clerk Mary Herrera to follow election law and get ENOUGH ballots at once out to the precincts where people are being turned away. Apparently, the same thing has happened in prectint 57 on Albuquerque's west side.

Mary Herrera's office has confirmed that they made a judgement call in sending over only 150 ballots to the Republcian heavy precinct 603. The Clerk's office sent over another 250 to try and alleviate the problem - a number NOBODY thinks is adequate.

Kentucky, Lousiville:
A poll worker in south Louisville was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with assault and interfering with an election, an official said.

Paula McCraney, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Clerk, said the poll worker was accused of choking and pushing the voter out of the door. Election officials called the police and when an officer arrived, the voter wanted to file charges, McCraney said.

"That about tops off the day," McCraney said. More details about the incident and the name of the poll worker were not immediately available.

It was one of a few problems reported around the state with polling places as the future is decided for candidates for about 4,000 elected positions around Kentucky.

Well, listening to our radio am 780 here in Illinois, we already have people who have voted calling in saying that the new voting machines are already showing signs of being faulty. This was a Republican that called in and he claims that no matter WHAT box he checked it defaulted to the Democratic candidate. Can anyone say "clusterfuck"... keep checking for updates on this.

Floods in Washington have votes scrambling to find alternate voting sites to cast their vote.

OLYMPIA, WA 2006-11-06 Some Northwest voters may encounter floodwaters as they make their way to the polls Tuesday. And election officials say we may not know the outcome of close races for several days. Correspondent Austin Jenkins has this election preview.

Meanwhile, the process of counting ballots may take longer than usual this year. In places like Seattle's King County, the ballot is crowded with several measures, which will slow the vote tabulation.

King County officials estimate they will count fewer than half the votes on election night. That means in super-close races, the outcome may not be decided for days -- if not weeks.

Houston: We're already hearing of some confusion by voters at various polls in our area and are monitoring them closely. At this time, those problems have been reported at Precinct 656 in north Houston and Precinct 141 in Harris County.

Florida and Ohio: Electronic voting machine problems frazzled voters and election workers in dozens of precincts as the polls opened Tuesday, delaying voters in Indiana and Ohio and leaving some in Florida with little choice but turn to paper ballots instead.

In Cleveland, voters rolled their eyes as poll workers fumbled with new voting machines that they couldn't get to start properly.

"We got five machines — one of them's got to work," said Willette Scullank, a trouble shooter from the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, elections board.

Indiana: Election officials in Delaware County, Ind., planned to seek a court order to extend voting after an apparent computer error prevented voters from casting ballots in 75 precincts. Delaware County Clerk Karen Wenger said the cards that activate the machines were programmed incorrectly.

ONE more reason to vote Republican: (H/T to Townhall) Scrappleface has this:

(2006-11-07) — As Americans went to the polls this morning, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, announced that if Democrats don’t achieve a “clear, immediate, overwhelming victory” in the House and the Senate, she will lead them in a “responsible redeployment” from Congress.

“We don’t want to get tied up here for years in a sectarian battle that we can’t win,” Rep. Pelosi said. “Either we get what we want now, or we cut our losses and return to our home states.”

A hell of a laugh for those that need one today at Plank's Constant.
