UN Commissioner: A Known Jew Hater

Hat Tip to
YID with LID for the link.

According to YNet, Louise Arbour, the UN Commission is refusing to meet with the Israeli families of the kidnapped victims on her trip to Israel.

UN high commissioner on human rights announces she will not meet with families of three kidnapped soldiers during Israel visit. Eldad Regev's brother: "Decision not to meet families should set off red lights of UN stance behind resolution"

The UN High Commissioner on Human Rights Louise Arbour has decided not to meet with the families of the kidnapped soldiers during her visit to Israel . The families of Ehud Goldwasser, Eldad Regev and Gilad Shalit have approached the commissioner two weeks ago already, but after a series of evasive answers, the negative and final answer came Tuesday.

"The decision of the Commissioner Arbour not to meet with the families of the kidnapped soldiers during her visit to Israel should set off red lights in Israel and the other 15 countries that are signed on UN Resolution 1701. The UN is not interested in the fate of the soldiers, and maybe it doesn't even stand behind the resolution," said Benny Regev, brother of kidnapped soldier Eldad Regev.

It did not take much to search out the reason why she takes the stance either:

Born in Montreal, Quebec to Bernard Arbour (deceased) and Rose Ravary, the owners of a hotel chain, she attended convent school, during which time her parents divorced. As editor of the school magazine, she earned a reputation for irreverence. She has a known hatred for the Jewish State.

You would think, THAT, would have been a huge red flag before giving her the position at the UN, wouldn't you?

I would have to agree with YID here, the Israeli's should throw her ass right out of their country.

More from the Anti Defamation League in 2005:

New York, NY, July 25, 2005 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today expressed disappointment in the response by Louise Arbour, the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations, to concerns it had raised about offensive anti-Israel statements attributed to her colleague, Jean Ziegler, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food.

In a letter to ADL dated July 22, Ms. Arbour indicated that she disassociates herself "with any reference to concentration camps in such circumstances," but failed to explicitly condemn Mr. Ziegler's comments where he compared Israelis to Nazis and called the Gaza Strip "an immense concentration camp." Ms. Arbour indicated that she would not take any action to punish Mr. Ziegler for his conduct.

"We are disappointed that Louise Arbour appears to be unwilling to take action that would lead to Mr. Ziegler either offering his resignation or resigning at the request of the commission," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "Given her esteemed reputation and the respect she deservedly enjoys within the human rights community, we strongly believe that a public statement from Ms. Arbour making clear that Mr. Ziegler's vicious statements about the state of Israel severely compromise his post, would encourage him to choose the honorable option, and resign."

Recently even John Bolton spoke out about the overall anti-semetic rhetoric that comes from the UN and I also show instances dating back decades of public statements showing the same thing.

"Many of the sponsors of that resolution are notorious abusers of human rights themselves, and were seeking to deflect criticism of their own policies," he said.

"This type of resolution serves only to exacerbate tensions by serving the interests of elements hostile to Israel's inalienable and recognized right to exist."

"This deepens suspicions about the United Nations that will lead many to conclude that the organization is incapable of playing a helpful role in the region," Bolton continued.

"In a larger sense, the United Nations must confront a more significant question, that of its relevance and utility in confronting the challenges of the 21st century. We believe that the United Nations is ill served when its members seek to transform the organization into a forum that is a little more than a self-serving and a polemical attack against Israel or the United States," he said.
