Pelosi's Political Philosophy--Raise Taxes

.
Once again I use the voting record of politicans to see what they stand for and what they do not. To me, their voting records are the best indication of where they stand on the issues and in making my judgements about their capability to keep us safe as a nation. In my mind, National Security is fist and foremost, the rest comes after that. This is why I changed from voting Democratic to voting Republican after 9/11. I woke up and the world had changed, we had been attacked on our own soil. That changed me and my priorities. It did not change the Democrats priorities though, which to me, is very telling.

The Washington Times has an op/ed piece written by Jack Kingston, called Pelosi's war blunder.

In a stunning performance on "60 Minutes," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi proved again why she cannot be trusted to keep America safe from the threat of global terrorism and Islamic extremists.

Mrs. Pelosi demonstrated that she does not understand the global nature of the threat when she stated flatly "the war on terror is the war in Afghanistan." She may think the war is limited to Afghanistan, but where does al Qaeda believe the war is? Al Qaeda's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a letter to the leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq, was clear about the location of the global jihad and the importance of victory in Iraq:

After reading the article I decided to look up Nancy Pelosi's voting record myself and following is a list of how she votes on the issues that are inportant to me. Remember, if the Democrats take the senate and the house, this woman will be speaker of the house.

Nancy Pelosi on Homeland Security.

Voted NO on continuing intelligence gathering without civil oversight. (Apr 2006)
Voted NO on federalizing rules for driver licenses to hinder terrorists. (Feb 2005)
Voted NO on continuing military recruitment on college campuses. (Feb 2005)
Voted NO on adopting the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. (Oct 2004)
Voted NO on permitting commercial airline pilots to carry guns. (Jul 2002)
Voted NO on deploying SDI. (Mar 1999)

Do we feel safer yet? We know the terrorists from 9/11 lived in the US and obtained identification here and yet Pelosi votes NO to federalize rules for drivers licenses to hinder terrorists. Also is against military recruitment at colleges, shows the same contempt for our military that I see so often from the Democrats.

To vote NO to the recommendations from 9/11 commission goes beyond being weak on terror, this women actually is inviting the terrorists back into our country. Yeah, I feel MUCH safer now. Yet, in her speech about her first 100 hours as Madame speaker, Pelosi said "Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001."

If Pelosi is NOW recommending we enact all recommendations made by the commission why did she vote NO in 2004?

Safety as I said is first on my list of priorities, next for me would be taxes. So lets see where Pelosi stands on tax issues, shall we?

Nancy Pelosi on Taxes.

Voted NO on retaining reduced taxes on capital gains & dividends. (Dec 2005)
Voted NO on providing tax relief and simplification. (Sep 2004)
Voted NO on making permanent an increase in the child tax credit. (May 2004)
Voted NO on permanently eliminating the marriage penalty. (Apr 2004)
Voted NO on making the Bush tax cuts permanent. (Apr 2002)
Voted NO on $99 B economic stimulus: capital gains & income tax cuts. (Oct 2001)
Voted NO on Tax cut package of $958 B over 10 years. (May 2001)
Voted NO on eliminating the Estate Tax ("death tax"). (Apr 2001)
Voted NO on eliminating the "marriage penalty". (Jul 2000)
Voted NO on $46 billion in tax cuts for small business. (Mar 2000)
Rated 21% by NTU, indicating a "Big Spender" on tax votes. (Dec 2003)-- Ya think?????

Well, I don't think I have to say much here, if you can read, you can see how much she likes tax cuts. Then again, back to her Drain the Swamp speech, Pelosi says "All the days after that: "Pay as you go," meaning no increasing the deficit, whether the issue is middle class tax relief, health care or some other priority.

To do that, she said, Bush-era tax cuts would have to be rolled back for those above "a certain level." She mentioned annual incomes of $250,000 or $300,000 a year and higher, and said tax rates for those individuals might revert to those of the Clinton era. Details will have to be worked out, she emphasized."

Remember the take from the rich to give to the poor or better referred to as the agenda for "common good" taken directly from the communist manifesto.

The Majority Caucus on the House Budget Committee has published what could potentially be Nancy Pelosi’s agenda her first 100 hours as Speaker of the House. Here are a few interesting items:

Roll back the 2001 tax cuts.

Repealing the tax cuts would cost American taxpayers $164 billion in 2011, and $1.5 trillion through 2015 according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Are you all feeling as warm and fuzzy as I am about Nancy Raise the Taxes Pelosi?

Nancy Pelosi on Immigration.

Voted NO on preventing tipping off Mexicans about Minuteman Project. (Jun 2006)
Voted NO on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment. (May 2004)
Voted YES on extending Immigrant Residency rules. (May 2001)
Voted YES on more immigrant visas for skilled workers. (Sep 1998)
Rated 0% by FAIR, indicating a voting record loosening immigration. (Dec 2003)

Real strong on immigration isn't she?

There is a rundown on what I see as priorities and above is Pelosi's voting record on all these issues. I have to say, I don't want her as speaker of the house and yet if the Dems win enough seats, that is what she will be. Are you scared yet?

As Redstate points out, even some of the Democrats do not want Pelosi as speaker.

Democrat Charlie Stuart, who hopes to unseat Republican Rep. Ric Keller in Florida, already has said he opposes Mrs. Pelosi and would prefer Rep. Steny H. Hoyer, the more conservative No. 2 Democrat in the House whose strained relations with Mrs. Pelosi have been well-chronicled on Capitol Hill.

"He's a centrist," Stuart spokeswoman Sultana Ali said of the Florida Democrat. "His values really are more in line with Steny Hoyer than Nancy Pelosi."

At least three other Democrats contacted by The Washington Times refused to commit their support to Mrs. Pelosi, whose San Francisco district is far more liberal than the districts that are up for grabs in this election.

Once again I will say, although we are voting in local races, our decisions will have national consequences. National Security will be in jeopardy and taxes will be raised and nothing substantial will happen about immigration.

Remember also, if Democrats take enough seats, Charlie Rangel would become chairman of ways and means committee, but then, Charlie boy is a WHOLE other story and will wait until another post.
