Gathering of Eagles Is Calling All Patriots!!!

(Denise James stands on the porch of her condo which she decorated with American flags for Independence Day on Kenzie Drive in Robinson Township on Wednesday, July 2, 2008.)

Calling all Eagles!!!!!!!

A call to action by the Gathering of Eagles for a show of solidarity with an Air National Guard member, Master Sgt. Denise James, who is being sued by her condo association because on Memorial Day she put up small American flags in her yard to honor past and present veterans.

Because her yard is considered a common area and she refused to take down the flags, which as you can see from the photo, are very small, the McKenzie Place Condominium Association is suing her for $1,000 plus court costs.

James said she was given a way out last week when the association offered to settle the matter if she removed the flags and paid a $250 fine. She refused that, too.

I received an email from The Gathering of Eagles and they are asking that patriots, Eagles, veterans, active military and friends and family show up and support James.

We are asking everyone to attend this hearing in her support and to support the flying of the American Flag. How long are we going to put up with these pukes? Wear your VVA/AVVA T shirts, ball hats, vest. I am also asking the Patriot Guards and Rolling Thunder to attend.

Denise is being fined $10.00 a day in the suit everyday she flies her small American Flags in front of her condo. Someone tell me, is this still AMERICA?

Denise has served with the 171st Refueling Wing, Pa. National Guard for 25 years and this is how we tell her Thank YOU?

You may send a card to the condo association:

McKenzie Place Condominiums Assoc.

2500 Kenzie Drive

Pittsburgh, Pa. 15205

Or

Go to the web site and send an e mail

http://www.mckenzieplace.com

So, how about those close enough to attend, do so and those not close enough, write to the McKenzie Place Condominiums Association and let know that this is America and an American flag flown to show respect to our troops, past and present, is more than appropriate and their actions, are not.

Bless the Gathering of Eagles!!!!

A few actions reports were emailed to me and I have to say, the Gathering of Eagles are everywhere now, supporting our troops, welcoming our wounded warriors home and generally letting their voices be heard and their faces be seen to our military knows they have the support of those of us here at home.

Victory in Oklahoma City this weekend
!!!!

Somerville, NJ 6/21/08!!

A group of Wounded Warriors and their families arrived in New York today to participate in events around the city this weekend. A group of Eagles were there to meet them with a happy crowd of Patriots.

More at Motion Box.

AAR Nanuet 6/21/2008.

Hello fellow Eagles! We had great weather today in Nanuet. We had all our banners flying today and we outnumbered the moonbats all day. Our Patriotic Music filled the air again today. The moonbats had a flag out for 30 some odd minutes before the rental agreement apparently ran out.

Keep up with the Gathering Of Eagles, what they do, what they need, what they are fighting for, right here at their website.

I will say it again.

Bless the Eagles.

"Not this war. Not this time."- The Chester County Victory Movement

In March I wrote about Chester County, when a blogger/citizen journalist was slapped by an anti-war activist, while reporting on protests between anti-war activists and pro-military supporters. Chester County is back in the news with an article called "Protesting the Antiwar Protestors"

The blogger/citizen journalist that was slapped went by the name of "Skye" and is now known to be Tania Ciolko of Philadelphia. The anti-war protester that slapped her and was subsequently arrested was John H. Meicht and as a quick update on that particular case, the man signed a plea agreement in front of Magisterial District Judge Gwenn Knapp, agreeing to write a formal letter of apology to the blogger, complete 30 hours of community service and stay out of trouble for the next 60 days.

According to the plea deal, if he does what is required of him, the charges of assault, resisting arrest, harassment, recklessly endangering another person and related charges with be withdrawn by the district attorney's office.

In their place, Meicht, 62, of West Goshen, would be allowed to plead guilty to a summary offense of disorderly conduct and pay a fine.

If he fails to complete the terms of the agreement, the charges against him would go forward.

Skye aka Tania Ciolko stated she was satisfied with the result, saying, "I’m very happy about it. I think justice was served. I got what I wanted, an apology.”

What Tania was reporting on were weekly protests that had been held on the corners of the Chester County Courthouse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Today, in a report from the Wall Street Journal, we see how the protests started and how the pro-military supporters stood up to make sure that support was shown for the U.S. military by protesting the anti-war supporters.

The story is of a man, Rich Davis, a 20-year Navy veteran that moved to Chester County in 2001 to retire and by 2006 he started seeing the anti-war protesters from Chester County Peace Movement (CCPM) standing outside the courthouse by his apartment, every Saturday morning.

He says that he hoped to see someone stand up and show support for the troops until one day he decided that someone was going to be him.

Davis states that his goal was not to stifle dissent but to not let signs and protests that in his mind, encourages the enemy and demoralizes the U.S. Troops, go unanswered.

In September of 2007, Davis made his sign, marched to the corner and determined that someone showing support for the troops would be seen. He says he was pushed, shoved and challenged with comments like, "Do you live in fear?" and "Why don't you go and serve?"

Davis says, "They had that corner for five years, every Saturday, unopposed. They couldn't stand the thought of one person having a sign they couldn't tolerate."

An amazing thing happened though, his lone figure, his one sign, grew into the Chester County Victory Movement.

The Gathering of Eagles, an organization that supports the troops, joined him and from one man, there became 40 people, waving flags and holding signs that showed support for the troops.

(Chester County Victory Movement stands up every Saturday at the Chester Country Courthouse to show support for the U.S. Military- Photo from Armed Forces Day Rally on May 17, 2008.)

From this one man's efforts, the Chester County Victory Movement was born, and their website provides the opportunity to "share information about welcoming troops home, sending care packages, and joining discussions at West Chester University."

Mr. Davis notes that he has been accused of being part of a vast right-wing conspiracy that trains and pays pro-troop advocates. Asked about that, he offers an answer that may inspire others to join his efforts.

"In a way they're right," he told me. "I was trained by a family that taught me to love our country, not blame it. And I am paid by troops and their families who say thanks for doing this, thanks for being here."

As Memorial Day approaches in the United States, formerly known as Decoration Day, we are reminded of what it represents, which is a way to commemorate the U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country.

Rich Davis was guided by a personal memory of how the Vietnam war veterans were treated and his deep respect for his sister's boyfriend, Marine Lance Cpl. Alan R. Schultz from Levittown, Pa, who died in 1967 by mortar fire in Vietnam.

He says that every time he sees an anti-war protest, he thinks of Schultz and his "modern day counter-parts", whom in his mind, are being disrespected.

What started his personal one man stand to show his military brother and sisters in arms the support he felt they deserved, was but one thought.

"Not this war. Not this time."

Gathering Of Eagles Face Off Against Code Pink and Declare VICTORY!!

The Gathering of Eagles (GOE) has a good day in new Jersey as they faced down members of Code Pink.

In solidarity with our friends in Berkeley, on Sunday, April 27th, The Gathering of Eagles told Susie Benjamin and her friends from Code Pink that they were not welcome in New Jersey. What a great day for Eagles!

Susie slinked into sleepy little Northern New Jersey, certain she could defile our state without comment. Imagine the surprise when “Peacers” came down Route 23 and discovered it lined with American flags and patriots there standing up for our troops! The first sign that greeted them? “Code Pink…NOT WELCOME IN NEW JERSEY!”

Eagles began arriving at 10 am, in advance of the luncheon, from all over the state of New Jersey and from New York, Connecticut, Virginia and Bev Perlson, from the Band of Mothers, came all the way from Chicago! In all, we were more than 30 strong.

As each car entered the parking lot to the hotel hosting the luncheon, Eagles were there to stand up for our troops. While organizers of the lunch claimed 250 guests, unless the cars passing us were clown cars holding a few dozen each, their numbers were no where near this…in fact, it was a rather pathetic turnout for them.

Code Pink’s actual feelings about free speech for all except themselves, came within the first 15 minutes of their typically late arrival with a call to the police to remove the Eagles from the PUBLIC street in front of the hotel.

The Eagles had been on the street for almost two hours before the Pinkos actually arrived and were without incident or disturbance. Arriving cars were not delayed one single second and no entrance was impeded. They wanted us removed simply because they did not want us to exercise our free speech….despite the platitudes they claimed when a few of them scurried up the driveway to harass us.

Three police cars arrived and, after confirming that the Eagles were legally entitled to be there and were causing no disruption and merely exercising free speech, the police bid us a friendly good-bye, much to the dismay of the “Peace” advocates.

Read the rest at the GOE site... GO EAGLES!!!

More on demonstrators against Code Pink from The Star Legder:

"The original Medea murdered her children," read one protest sign outside The Regency House hotel on Route 23 in Pompton Plains, where the dinner was held. "Medea Benjamin is murdering ours."

Some 18 people from groups that oppose anti-war protests as "anti-American" hoisted signs condemning CODEPINK as supporting terrorism.

"I'm here to support our soldiers," said Beverly Perlson, founder of the group Band of Mothers. Perlson, whose son served four tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, flew in from Chicago to attend the rally in Morris County. She said CODEPINK protesters, who have agitated for the closure of a military recruitment center in Berkeley, Calif., are not just "anti-victory," they are "pro-defeat."

"They want to see us lose. I don't understand this," Perlson said, after a heated exchange with CODEPINK supporters. "I've been referred to as the mother of a terrorist. ... My son isn't a terrorist."

The fact is that military supporters and groups such as GOE and parents of military members in Iraq as well as parents that have lost children in the war, afmilies and those that support our military, are not going to stand back and allow Code Pink to malign and disparage our troops.

This is not the 60's, this is not Vietnam and veterans from around the country will not allow that to happen again.

Code Pink and all groups like them will learn that where ever they decide to declare battle against our troops, Americans will stand up against them.

I will end this with a portion of the original GOE article, one that touched me:

And thank you, most of all, to that young soldier who stopped to thank us. You, sir, are why Eagles soar.

That sums it up nicely.

Gathering Of Eagles ACTION ALERT

From an email:

Fighting the Insurgency at Home

Who: Gathering of Eagles, Eagles Up!, Rolling Thunder, and more!
What: Eagles Muster to denounce Winter Soldier II
Where: Washington, DC and Silver Springs, MD
When: Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15

NOTE: We still encourage Eagles to make both this event and the one in April if at all possible. If not, we ask that you attend in April, when the General will be testifying before Congress. It is imperative that you be there. Countering the moonbats is great fun, but our troops NEED us in D.C. in April to force Congress to continue to support the war until victory is achieved. PLEASE consider this when making plans to attend events.

Have you had it with the left wing organizations demeaning and slandering our troops at every opportunity? Has the escalation in attacks against our recruiters across the nation, which progressed to the bombing of the Recruiter Station in Times Square last week, alerted you to the fact that we are fighting a REAL INSURGENCY in this country?

In NY City this weekend we held a rally in support of our troops and our recruiters in Times Square. You can read my after action report here.

This morning I discover the cretins from Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), who are running their program to slander and defame this generation of American Warriors in the same fashion as their guiding lights from the old VVAW did to our Vietnam Veterans, noticed our display of patriotism in Times Square.

Their response:

You are going to eat it if unless you cease and desist from your planned “events”.

Their earlier comment on the bombing of the Times Square Recruiter Station was:

F— recruiters.

I don’t know about you, but it gets my Irish up when someone can, in effect, condone and endorse domestic terrorism against our troops and then threaten more against anyone who supports the troops.

Up until now I have wanted to protest their planned defamation of our warriors at the Labor College in Silver Springs, Maryland, but work requirements were going to restrict my travel only to the Saturday Rally and March in DC. Now, wild horses couldn’t keep me away on Friday.

* I condemn in the strongest language the willful terrorist enabling of the AFL-CIO for allowing this group to use the Labor College for their planned seditious blackballing of our American Troops.

* I strongly recommend that anyone with a union card and patriotism join us in a mass burning of union cards outside the university gates on Friday to demonstrate to the fat labor bosses what we think of their collaboration.

* I demand that any media organization planning to cover the IVAW lie fest explicitly include in their reports the above IVAW quotes to demonstrate IVAWs true level of support for our troops.

* I demand that any media organization who runs anything on the IVAW propaganda campaign specifically use the DUPES process outlined here:

http://tinyurl.com/2lmmqq to perform their due diligence on anything the IVAW may claim.

The agenda for Friday, March 14th is
:

Truth Challenge against IVAW Winter Soldier II
National Labor College
10000 New Hampshire Avenue
New Hampshire Ave and Powder Mill Road
Silver Spring, Maryland 20903
Map Link: http://tinyurl.com/3attuz
Starting 8am, All Day

The agenda for Friday Night, March 14th is:

Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Ave.
Georgia Ave and Elder Street
Washington DC 20307
Map Link: http://tinyurl.com/257qwf
From 7pm until the Troop Bus returns from dinner

The agenda for Saturday, March 15th is
:

Eagles Muster and March

DVD's for the troops

LISTEN UP FOLKS--

Gathering of Eagles and Operation A Bit of Home have got a drive going to collect used (or new) DVDs for the troops. They can't be copies (illegal you know).

The Gathering of Eagles is joining forces with Operation-A Bit Of Home in support of their efforts to build a new DVD lending library for our troops in Iraq.

Operation A Bit Of Home was founded by Ken Meyer in 2004, while his wife Angel was serving in Iraq.

Since then his organization has expanded into many states all across the nation. They have shipped well over 10,000 boxes of supplies to Iraq.

Ken has been a participating member of the NC GOE since May 2007. OABOH has helped to build the largest DVD lending library in Iraq for our troops. Unfortunately, it is restricted to the troops attending Freedom Rest. Ken has been asked by the MWR coordinator in Baghdad to help build another facility to reach more troops.

The Gathering of Eagles has partnered with OABOH to launch Operation Disk Drive o collect thousands of VDs to fill this new library.

Please - take a look around the house, talk to friends and neighbors, gather all the new and used DVDs that you can. We are not looking for children’s disks, but drama, musicals, action, and shoot-’em-ups etc. are very welcome for male and female troops. Place them in a box with a few dollars and send them to the address listed below.
The organizers will consolidate the disks, and using the money you send, will ship them to the new lending library in Baghdad.

Most folks have 1, 2 or more used DVDs laying around, but, if you don’t have any to send, mail a check made out to your state coordinator and they can use the money to buy disks and portable players!

Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of MANY soldiers. Like Ken always said: Supporting Your Troops means more than placing a magnet on your car!

Send your boxed DVD donations to

Defund Berkeley and Give Them NO Military Help EVER

[Update- Live updates and photos from the showdown in Berkeley with MOVE AMERICA FORWARD leading the way, all day updating, February 12, 2008]

Part #2, Chaos continues in Berkeley, found here.

Hat Tip to Stephen Kruiser because while I was moving he left me an email and I have to agree with him completely that if Berkeley makes the Marines in their city unwelcome, they should not nly have all federal funding stripped, but they should also not be allowed to receive ANY military help for any reason and yes, that includes the Coast Guard for their oil spills since the Coast Guard IS a military group.

The Berkeley City Council voted late Tuesday to give Code Pink a designated parking space directly in front of the recruiting station, as well as a sound permit for once-a-week protests. It also approved a separate resolution calling the military recruiters "uninvited and unwelcome intruders" and declaring that the office - which opened quietly in December 2006 - is not welcome in the city.

Even the City Council is not of one voice on the matter.

The vote to award the Code Pink parking spot was 8-1, and the condemnation resolution was 6-3. On Thursday, the polarized emotions that went into those votes had not abated.

"I'm ashamed of my vote," said Councilwoman Betty Olds, who helped approve the parking spot but not the condemnation. "The protesters should have free speech - this is where Free Speech was born, after all - but to tell the Marines they are not welcome is shameful. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't even go for the parking spot."

Simple solution in my eyes, let the Marines leave, give Berkeley no federal funding and make it a mandate that if Berkeley suffers any disaster, natural or otherwise, via an earthquake, another oil spill, which they begged the Coast Guard to help with last time, THEN criticized them, or if a terrorist attacks Berkeley-- NO help, nada, zip, zilch.

Let them fend for themselves...period.

Berkeley has the right to free speech, rights given to them BY our military that fought, bled and died to assure it to them.

The American Legion weighs in and tells Berkeley, "The Marines Are Not The Enemy":

"Osama bin Laden couldn't have said it better," American Legion National Commander Marty Conatser said of the Berkeley City Council Resolution, which tells the Marines that they are not welcome there. "Disgraceful, disloyal, ungrateful. These words are too kind in describing the actions of the public officials in Berkeley, who voted for this disgrace. Nonetheless, our Marines continue to bravely serve and in so doing, allow Americans to spout such foolishness. The American Legion not only strongly condemns this action by the City Council but also believes that a sincere apology is in order to all Marines, past and present."

Conatser, the leader of the nation's largest veterans organization, was referring to a measure passed by the Council 6-3 Tuesday, that tells the U.S. Marine Corps that one of its recruiting stations is "not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do as uninvited and unwelcome intruders."

The City Council marched in complete lock-step with radical anti-war group Code Pink in attempting to drive out Marine recruiters from its San Francisco suburb. The City Council also voted 8-1 to give Code Pink a free parking space in front of a recruiting station, along with a free sound permit for protesting once a week. Marine recruiters at Berkeley have faced harassment from protestors who regularly block nearby sidewalks, generate excessive noise and disrupt business.

"I have been a recruiter in the National Guard and I know that it's tough duty, with long hours," Conatser said. "What these recruiters do is essential to our national security. Without recruiters we have no military. And I don't think we can count on the flower children from Berkeley to protect this nation when it comes under attack. They have to remember that Marines are not the enemy; the terrorists are."

Read the rest and good for them.

Michelle Malkin points out Senator DeMint's statement as the backlash starts to hit Berkeley:

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) released the following statement in response to the decision by the City Council of Berkeley, California to evict the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station from the city.

“This is a slap in the face to all brave service men and women and their families. The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money. If the city can’t show respect for the Marines that have fought, bled and died for their freedom, Berkeley should not be receiving special taxpayer funded handouts. I am currently drafting legislation to ensure that American taxpayers aren’t forced to pay for this insult by rescinding all of the earmarks for Berkeley in the Omnibus Appropriations bill, and to transfer the funds to the Marine Corps.”

Remember these are the people that defaced the recruiting center in Berkeley and that Gathering of Eagles turned the tables n the code pinkos and Move America Forward have both gone toe to toe with these ingrates.

The bottom line is that the people of Berkeley and even code pinkos have the right to free speech and to say anything they want....so do I.

They are lower than scum and nothing but hate filled people that claim they want peace and I say.... GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT, in full.

No funds. No help. Nothing.

Gathering of Eagles Update-Christmas Cheer For Our Warriors

Via email from GOE, which brings me to this Gathering of Eagles Page:

Several weeks ago I met a Vice President for a major shipping company. He offered to ship 100-150 boxes to our men and women in the field if we could get them together within 10 days. I am happy to say that the out-pouring of support was 4 times that, but then the attorneys got involved. Apparently a shipper can ship military equipment and supplies, but no parcels. With boxes stacking up around us, and no means of getting them to Iraq and Afghanistan, the Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Society stepped in. It is not hyperbolic to say that not a whole lot gets done in Philadelphia without their help. This case is no different. They stepped up and agreed to fund the entire shipment. The hope is still that we will receive some manner of assistance from corporate sponsors, but the ‘Nammies care not. What matters to them is that our brave men and women get the luxuries they deserve. Kudos to you gentlemen, and just proof positive that my attaching hero status to those who fought in Vietnam is well-founded. Merry Christmas. Manchu.

Chris Hill
National Director for Operations.

YEAHHHHHHH to the Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Society!!!!!!!!

Aren't these people wonderful?

Speaking of wonderful, have you seen all the wonderful things Move America Forward has been doing?

Day 17
- Raleigh, NC

We just left Raleigh, on our way to Norfolk, Virginia. We just wrapped up one of the best rallies we’ve had all tour long, which we held at the state capitol there in North Carolina. Having the patriot guard riders to escort us was special, and when we got there, even though we were half an hour early (thanks again to better planning and adding extra time in – otherwise we would have been late) there was already a nice little crowd gathered and waiting for us.

We had two radio stations with us for this rally and they were already set up and helping out with entertaining our visitors while they waited for us to arrive. We had to be careful when we were unloading the bus because there was nowhere to pull over so we had to basically run out into traffic when no one was coming, grab what we could and try to get back to the sidewalk before anyone turned us into roadkill!

We got everything set up and people were up at the tables signing cards before we had a chance to even start the rally. The patriot guard riders opened up the storage compartments in all of their bikes and somehow produced 5,000 cards for our troops. They stacked the cards up on one of our tables, dominating half of it. We had to bring out a third table for the first time in our tour because of the PGRs cards and so many other people bringing more and more cards. Cards came from several local area schools. One teacher brought her whole 4th grade class to the rally, they had scheduled a tour of the capitol and had also made dozens of cards for the troops beforehand. The kids just lined up, each of them with three, four or five cards in hand, and walked by me with my red sack open, each kid in the procession dropping his cards down and thanking us for being there! They were awesome.

There were actually at least 5 or 6 schools there today, taking tours of the capitol. I walked over to the teachers with each group and invited them over, I think probably three of them took us up on the offer, came down, and signed some cards for the troops. Either way it was a great day both for signing and collecting!

I actually pulled a couple of cards out of the bag here, so that I could give you all an idea of what all these kids write and how each and every one of our 100,000 PLUS cards are written from the deepest hearts of our supporters. They are in no way empty, or ‘stock feelings’ they are absolutely genuine and heartfelt. Let me just show you, and let these kid’s cards speak for themselves.

Dear Troops

Thank –you for all your Support, thank-you for protecting us. You are our modle we look up to you. Have a happy and safe Christmas we love you.

Sincerlly,
Lupita and Karina

Merry X-mas 

I just wanted to let you know how thankful we are to have heroes like you, giving up so much for what you believe in. Without you, America wouldn’t be the country that it is today.

God Bless You,
Nate W.
Cathedral School
Raleigh, N.C.

Finally, I had a wonderful opportunity to speak with two blue star moms who came to our rally. They are members of the organization Blue Star Mothers of America, North Carolina.

Duckie Yates of Four Oaks, NC is the Chapter President of Chapter 1, NC. She has been president of the club for one year and in that year they have seen the expansion of the club from one statewide chapter, to 6, with 3 of those already formed with two in the process of forming right now. Her son US Army Specialist Ben Yates, 27, has been in the US Army eight years now, served 3 years in Kosovo, one year in Iraq (2004-2005) and is now on his way back for another 15 month tour of duty. Ben has spent the last year or so training recruits at the National Training Center for Desert Warfare at Fort Irwin in Barstow, CA. Specialist Yates is also trained as an Explosive Ordinance Clearing Agent (EOCA) which basically means his job is to walk or ride out in front of military caravans and convoys, looking for IEDs or signs of IEDS. When he spots one, Ben’s job is to neutralize and disable the IED before it has the chance to damage any of our equipment, trucks or harm our troops. Being an EOCA, I imagine, has to be one of the most dangerous jobs in our armed forces today, making Ben one of the bravest and boldest we have serving today. Duckie tells me that Ben comes from a long line of military family and has wanted to join the military since he was 12 years old, inspired to do so by his grandfather who served in the US Army Air Corps and the US Air Force in World War Two, Korea, AND Vietnam.

Then I met Patti Elliot of Youngsville, NC. She described her family as the complete opposite of Ben and his family. Her son is 18 years old, an Army Reservist who graduated high school in December of 2006 (home schooled) and left for basic training two weeks later. He is currently training to be an MP, studying business, and competing in the school’s rifle and marksmanship team at the Military College of Georgia. He was inspired to join the service from local North Carolinian Bob Hughes, his rifle team coach since her son started shooting at the age of 13. Patti says that the most touching thing about being a member of the Blue Star Mom’s club is that even though most of the members of the organization have sons who have been deployed in a war zone, either in Iraq or Afghanistan, Patti still gets treated the same and has the same support network as any other mom, just by virtue of the fact that her son is in the military. It’s great to know that there are organizations out there that do not care whether your son has, fought, been injured or died in a war, only that your son or daughter has SERVED.

Check out all the wonderful stops they made on the Honoring Heroes at the holidays tour!!!

Links from days 1-9 can be found on a previous Wake up America piece, here.

Also, do not forget Freedom's Watch and their wonderful videos thanking the troops.

Sometimes Heroes Need Help Too

The following needs to be forwarded to your senators and congressmen. We have a chance to help two of America's finest, let's do it.

From Gathering of Eagles:

A Tale of Two Heroes Betrayed

It has come to my attention that two of our brothers need a little numerical support. Both live in states where the Congressional delegation mouths the party line that they support the troops, but the opposite is truly the situation. One lives in Pennsylvania and the other in New York. Both were responsible for acts of valor so audacious as to be worthy of a John Wayne movie. Both performed acts of heroism in combat that are so extraordinary that they deserve, in my estimation, the Medal of Honor. At the very least they deserve the consideration involved with the MOH. Neither is getting even that because politics have, once again, trumped sacrifice and selflessness.

Neither man asked for help. Both have suffered with the stoicism so common to our most heroic brothers. The first, Richard Gresko, came to my attention back at GOE I. He limps badly and is in quite obvious constant pain, but there he was on that bitterly cold day in March standing up to A.N.S.W.E.R. and Code Pink. Long story short, Richie, a Marine in Vietnam, leapt upon a grenade to save his squad, and though painfully wounded continued to direct his unit until he was evacuated. The second, David Bellavia, came to my attention because I saw his book on the shelf in a local bookstore. After I got it home I realized he was one of our brothers from Vets for Freedom. David was a one man task force who nearly single-handedly cleared a building in Fallujah. Before all was said and done he had dispatched multiple terrorists to their final resting place; one with his helmet and a Gerber knife. Both men are the stuff of the type of lore we who have served respect, and neither know that I’m about to solicit your help.

I would like to ask that each of you read the citations below. When you are done I would ask that you then call your Congressmen and both Senators and tell them that these men are worthy of our nation’s highest honor. Email or snail mail a letter too, demanding that the politicians in Washington give these men the honor they are due. Richie has Arlen Specter and Bob Casey in the Senate and Patrick Murphy in the House. David has Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer and Reynolds in the House. Both men were recommended by their commanders for the Medal of Honor. Both have impeccable witness statements. Both have done the deed; now let’s get them the award to accompany it.

Seldom do I use this venue for such a blatantly personal reason, but I am asking each of you reading this to do me a personal favor. Please follow up on this request. I truly want nothing more than to see both David and Richie with that awe-inspiring light blue ribbon and medal around their necks. I can do many things alone, but this I cannot do without your help; each and every one of you. Read the citations and tell me that politics is not at play. I, for one, am through with building bridges to our elected officials. I am starting to demand that they remember they work for us. Please help me, or our brothers will just be another casualty of Capitol Hill. Manchu.

GRESKO, RICHARD W.
Citation:
The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Richard W. Gresko (2516983), Sergeant [then Lance Corporal], U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with Headquarters and Service Company, Third Battalion, Fifth Marine Regiment, FIRST Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in the Republic of Vietnam. On the night of 11 March 1970, Sergeant Gresko was in one element of an ambush set up to protect a village from enemy attack. Around midnight, his element ambushed a Viet Cong unit which was attempting to enter the village. During the ensuing fight, Sergeant Gresko observed an enemy hand grenade land near his position. With complete disregard for his own personal safety and fully aware of the dangers involved, he unhesitatingly threw himself on top of the grenade, absorbing most of the blast fragments with his own body in order to protect his men from certain injury and possible death. Although painfully wounded, he continued to direct his men’s actions until the squad made their sweep. By his bold and heroic action on behalf of his fellow Marines, Sergeant Gresko reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Proposed Citation for SSG David Bellavia

For valorous and heroic actions during Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving as a squad leader in Operation Phantom Fury in Fallujah, Iraq from 04 November 2004 to 20 November 2004. On 10 November 2004, during an attack on Objective Wolf, SSG Bellavia repeatedly showed incredible courage and complete disregard for his own personal safety. With a squad from his platoon pinned down inside a room in an enemy controlled building and taking casualties, SSG Bellavia entered the “fatal funnel” of the doorway, and directly in the enemy line of fire. With rounds impacting all around him, he suppressed the enemy, allowing the squad to break contact. His actions saved the lives of the squad. After coordinating for the suppressing of the enemy stronghold with 25mm BFV cannon fire, SSG Bellavia re-entered the house. After being forced out of the room by overwhelming enemy fire, SSG Bellavia identified an AIF preparing an RPG. Realizing the danger the RPG posed to his platoon, SSG Bellavia decided to assault the room and destroy the enemy with the RPG. With complete disregard for his own safety SSG Bellavia assaulted the room while under intense enemy fire. He immediately killed the RPG gunner and wounded another AIF with an RPK machine gun who escaped to another room in the house. With an un-cleared room behind him, SSG Bellavia continued his attack. While moving into the un-cleared room he was attacked by two AIF from behind. Despite rounds impacting all around him, SSG Bellavia held his position and returned fire, ultimately killing two AIF. Almost simultaneously a fourth AIF attacked from inside a closet of the room. Exchanging rifle fire at almost point blank range, SSG Bellavia wounded the AIF who fled out the door and up the stairs. SSG Bellavia courageously pursued the AIF up the stairs of the building, exchanging gun fire on the stairwell. Pursuing the AIF into a room, SSG Bellavia used a grenade in an attempt to kill the AIF. Following the detonation of the grenade, SSG Bellavia entered the room and found the AIF preparing to fire his weapon. The ensuing close quarters melee resulted in hand to hand, ending with Bellavia destroying the AIF using his rifle barrel, Kevlar helmet, sappy plate, and ultimately a Gerber knife blade. A fifth AIF leaped from a roof above SSG Bellavia onto the second floor roof. After engaging the AIF through the window, SSG Bellavia moved out onto the roof and continued to engage the AIF until he ran out of ammunition. The AIF fell off the roof into the garden, badly wounded. SSG Bellavia acted on instinct to save the members of his platoon from an imminent RPG attack and ultimately cleared the entire house, destroying four AIF and badly wounding a fifth. His incredible bravery and complete disregard for his own safety to protect the lives of his platoon members was an incredibly unselfish and courageous act. Staff Sergeant Bellavia’s dedication to his fellow soldiers on the battlefield upholds the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

It goes without saying that Hillary Clinton HATES our military and I'm sure it will be a cold day in Hell before she does the right thing on this.

So.

Aren't there laws against filing false alarms and lying to the police?

A good 911 system can keep track of the source of origin for incoming calls. If the call is from a cell phone, it's a simple matter of contacting the cellular provider for records. False alarms tie up emergency services personnel on bogus runs and endanger others who could and often DO need those personnel elsewhere.

I really, really hope that these false alarms and reports are looked into:

More Stories from the Code Pink Panty Raid

Posted: 14 Oct 2007 03:44 PM CDT

by Kristinn Taylor, GOE/Free Republic

Okay, it wasn’t really a panty raid, but we did get the pinkos’ panties in a bunch. Besides, I like the headline. What the D.C. Chapter did do was hold a stealth freep of Code Pink at their Washington, D.C. headquarters Saturday afternoon. The part about the bogus police, fire and BOLO calls is true.

Six D.C. Chapter members, a member of Gathering of Eagles, Iraq war vet Phil Kiver and two of his friends went to the so-called Code Pink House at 712 5th St., NE (attn. Keith Olbermann, don’t get your panties in a bunch: Code Pink publishes this address all over their website) to call for their eviction over zoning violations. Specifically Code Pink is running a corporate lobbying office in a zoned residential neighborhood, operating a boarding house for transients and operating a kitchen. The house they are renting is zoned for single family dwelling. It sits right in the middle of a block of residences.

We arrived at 2 p.m. carrying copies of a zoning complaint that had been filed back in May with the D.C. government to give to the Pinkos’ neighbors. It appears the D.C. government has not taked action on the complaint.

As we were unloading our freep stuff from one of our cars up the road from the Pinkos’ office, a woman (not wearing pink, BTW) asked if we were there to protest Code Pink. When I told her, “Yes,” she immediately got on her cell phone and walked around the corner at 5th and H St. A couple minutes later she ran sprinting past me and hauled her ample behind down 5th St. to the Code Pink office where where she turned and raced up the stairs in to the front door.

About five minutes later, the first of many police officers to be called to check us out this afternoon arrived. I informed the officer, who was driving an unmarked car, that our intentions were to have a peaceful, lawful demonstration for a few hours. I explained that we were there to call attention to the neighbors of the failure of the D.C. government to act on the zoning complaint, as well as protest Code Pink in general.

The officer was satisfied that we were acting within the law and left.

The first of several neighbors came out to talk with us and shared her opposition to Code Pink roosting in her neighborhood. She said they are out in the street at all hours of the night, that they bring their buses down the street and park them, that vans with signs that say, “Our Troops Must Die” are parked on the street where her son, a three-tour Iraq vet home on emergency leave can see them.

She gladly took several copies of the zoning complaint to share with her neighbors.

The Pinko with the ample behind came back out of the Pinko office and walked back up to H St. She told us we should go to Iraq, which drew catcalls from the veterans and parent of a Marine currently in Iraq among us.

A few minutes later we received our second visit from the D.C. Police. This time it was a regular police vehicle. I spoke with this officer with the same result: we were acting within the law and he left.

A few minutes later we received our third visit. This time from a D.C. Police officer on bicycle patrol. I spoke with him as I had spoken with the previous officers.

One of the Pinkos came to the front door and asked the officer to come speak with her. She told him that she was “basically alone” in the office. We couldn’t clearly hear the rest of what she said, but it sounded like she was bothered by the presence of the protesters on the sidewalk.

While the officer was inside talking to her, several fire trucks came down 5th St. and stopped just past us. We didn’t smell any smoke (beyond the cigars and cigarettes we were smoking) and didn’t see any sign of a fire.

The police officer came back out of the Pinko office and told us that were acting within the law. When we told him this was the third time we had been checked out he told us that the police had to respond everytime a call is made, which we understood. While the officer was inside, we were joined outside by a couple more police officers on bicycle patrol. These two officers stayed watching over us until we were done after the first bicycle patrol officer departed.

The Battalion Chief for the fire department came over to talk with us about the call he was responding to. He said that they had received a call about ‘the smell of burning paper’ in the neighborhood, but there was no fire to be found. He lamented that large numbers of firemen were having to check out this bogus report.

All this happened within the first hour of us being there. In the meantime we were talking to more neighbors about Code Pink’s presence in the neighborhood. Some didn’t care, but many of them did. One even brought us bottled water to thank us for doing what we were doing. He told us how the Pinko’s improperly stored trash in their backyard was drawing rodents. Another neighbor walked up to us with a large axe in his hand and demanded to see our permit. I told him we didn’t have one. He went over carrying his axe to complain to the police about us but to no avail. We didn’t need a permit for what we were doing.

We spied one of the Pinkos up the block returning from a protest dressed in costume. When she saw us she turned around and went back up the block, presumably to use the alley entrance to the office.

The Pinkos did not want to dialogue with us today, like they usually do. Instead they hid inside their office and peeked out from behind the window blinds most of the time we were there.

We ended the freep after two hours and bid au revoir to the two bicycle patrol officers. A funny thing happened to Iraq war vet Phil Kiver, who had to leave a few minutes early, as he drove away. He had driven about fifteen blocks when he was pulled over by a marked D.C. police cruiser. The officer told him that there had been calls all afternoon that his car was being driven “erratically” all over D.C. Unknown to the officer, Phil’s car had been parked right in front of the Code Pink House for the previous two hours. I wonder who would have made calls like that to the police? Phil checked out okay and was allowed to go about his business.

I wonder what the penalties are in D.C. for making false police and fire reports? I guess I’ll have to find out.

Pictures from the freep should be posted tomorrow evening sometime.

We will be going back to freep the Pinkos again soon. Stay tuned for details.

Honor roll for today: Freepers Doctor Raoul; BufordP; Jimmy Valentine’s brother; Trueblackman; Mr. Trooprally and kristinn. Chief from the Gathering of Eagles, Phil Kiver and two friends.

Gathering of Eagles Turn the Tables on Code Pink Idiots

Leave it to our wonderful, awesome, veteran friends of Gathering of Eagles to turn the tables on the idiots of Code Pink.

For those who do not know who Code Pink is, they are the Military hating, vandalizing members of a group that dress in pink, deface Marine recruitment offices, park their pinkly clad carcasses outside Nancy Pelosi's house just to have the police move them so they are now parked outside of a neighbor of Nancy Pelosi's house as well as having to be publicly removed from chambers when General Petraeus was testifying.(Pictures and video below showing them doing these things).

(Pink morons being removed from chambers when Petraeus was testifying)

(Illiterate morons deface recruitment office)

(Picture of the pinkly clad fools defacing the same recruitment office)

Now, Gathering of Eagles, along with Free Republic, have decided that what is good for the goose, is also good for the gander and GOE is protesting outside of the Code Pink House.....LOL

GOE Eagles joined Free Republic in demonstrating in front of the Code Pink House in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. Ten gentlemen took station near the Code Pink house and distributed information to passing neighbors about the violations of local zoning codes that Code Pink’s occupation of the house represents.

Situated near Capitol Hill, the East Coast Corporate Headquarters of Code Pink (incorporated as a lobbying group) is located in a residential neighborhood. Code Pink also operates the property as a boarding house, charging a “voluntary rent” of $150 to $300 per month with as many as 20 “guests” at a time. Neither of these activities are permitted in a residential zone.

Neighbors of the Code Pink house commented about charter buses parking in the residential area, trucks blocking the street and loud “discussions” all hours of the night. Free Republic supplied the neighbors with the telephone numbers and information to file additional complaints.

Additional demonstrations will be held during coming weeks.

Please do not forget that Move America Forward will also be showing the Military recruitment officers in Berkeley their support by counterprotesting the Code Pick jackasses, on Wednesday, October 17, 2007.

SHOWDOWN IN BERKELEY:

Move America Forward Organizes Pro-Troop Demonstration to Counter Code Pink Protests & Harassment at Berkeley U.S. Marine Recruiting Office

(SAN FRANCISCO) -- In response to ongoing efforts by the liberal organization, Code Pink, to harass, intimidate and ultimately chase the U.S. military out of the greater San Francisco Bay Area, a patriotic, pro-troop counter demonstration will take place next Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the U.S. Marine Recruiting Center in Berkeley, California (located at 64 Shattuck Sq. in Berkeley, CA).

The pro-troop rally is being organized by the northern California-based non-profit group, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), which has grown to become the nation’s largest pro-troop organization.

“We’re sick and tired of the constant attacks against our military personnel here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we’re going to take action to defend the honor and integrity of this nation’s military men and women” said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.

The anti-war and anti-military group, Code Pink: Women for Peace, has been conducting weekly vigil-protests in front of the U.S. Marine Corps recruiting station in Berkeley, CA.

Controversy over the protests came to a head last week when Code Pink protesters took it upon themselves to deface the building and attempt to interfere with Marine Corps recruiters and their ability to do their jobs. Code Pink’s objective is ‘chase’ the Marine Corps, and the military out of Berkeley completely.

In recent media reports, Code Pink advocates are quoted as saying they were “shocked and horrified” that the Marine Corps has a presence in Berkeley and inferring that the Marines prey on children.

Code Pink activists have been caught on video calling Military recruiters ‘traitors’ and harassing Marine Corps Captain Richard Lund while he was just trying to do his job.

Now, Move America Forward and other patriotic Americans from the Bay Area are organizing to defend the integrity of Captain Lund and say THANK YOU to all our brave soldiers who are fighting to protect our freedoms in Iraq and other theatres in the War on Terror.

“Those who have been harassing our men and women in uniform do not even realize that they are attacking that which gives them freedom, security and liberty,” said Melanie Morgan.

A huge thank you to Gathering of Eagles, Free Republic and Move America Forward and every single individual that will be joining them to let these Code Pink fools know, that they SUPPORT THE TROOPS and that the Code Pinko's antics will not go unanswered by true patriots.

yeahhhhhhh baby!!!!

Washington DC Rallies and Counter-protests: Part Two-Coverage

Yesterday we blogged all day about the Gathering of Eagles and Move America Forward, Free Republic and many other groups rallying in Washington DC in support of the troops.

The response was great, I had many calling me with updates, emailing and sending me pictures throughout the day... you can find all that here.

I want to thank all those that commented and linked to those updates throughout the day and special thanks to Bob and Clyde from Gathering of Eagles, Dean and Snooper for the updates, the emails and the pictures throughout the day.

Today, lets follow up with a few reports from the Rally.

First, our guest contributor, Snooper from Take Our Country Back, was there and has his initial post up about his experiences.

Teaser:

I stood with my brothers and sisters yesterday and it was but one step in a journey of many steps. We have been silent and inactive for too long and we have finally been heard. Join us in our quest, will you? We scared them yesterday. We out-shouted them all yesterday. All I could hear from my perch for photos were Eagles Soaring...I could not hear the enemy and many were crying. Good. Let them cry. They have lost.

Let them display their colors of dishonor of yellow and pink...perhaps one day we will paint the stripes on their backs as we send them off to another country to live where they can feel more at home. We don't want them here and there are more of us than there are of them.

Go read the whole thing and see his original pictures of the event.

Move America Forward, who just complete their 27 stop caravan, traveling over 3,000 miles across the country, was there in full patriotic force and here is their initial reports to be followed up with further reports later.

Unbelievable. From the powerful rally of red, white and blue to a miles’long contingent of patriots, thousands of people came out today to show unwavering support for America’s troops.

Melanie Morgan, chair of Move America Forward, emceed the Gathering of Eagles, a 7,000-person strong contingent of red-blooded Americans on the Capitol Mall.

The respecful gathering contrasted with the anti-war crowd that carried signs saying “f..k Bush” and other enlightening phrases. About 5,000 losers marched from the White House to the Capitol where a group of the held a die-in. They carried names of America’s heroes who gave their lives, despite pleas from the parents and families of those soldiers who asked that they not dishonor the troops.

After the morning rally of patriots, which was bolstered by hard work from Free Republic, Gathering of Eagles, Families United and other pro-troops groups, lines of red, white and blue America-lovers lined the streets where Code Pink and other anarchist, communists and socialists marched. It was quite a gauntlet.
As of this writing, our brave police had to arrest the miscreants who lay in the streets. It was sickening to see.

So enough of that. Allow me to take you back to the real story: the rally.
Too much happened, too much was said, too much was embraced for words.

Gold Star families, those whose loved ones gave their lives for America, spoke about their continued support for our troops, the need to win in Iraq.

Rep, Duncan Hunter, who is running for the Republican nomination for president, spoke at the rally. A veteran himself, Congressman Hunter always pushes an agenda to protect and honor our troops. His son has served in Iraq and is now in Afghanistan.

Go there too and on the left side of the screen you can read about the whole trip, all twelve days, just click what day you want and read up on this great effort and great response from the American public in support of our troops and their mission.

Michelle Malkin was there also and is reporting here, here and here.

From her latest report she points us to this little tidbit from ABC news:

Thousands of anti-war protesters holding black and yellow signs saying "End the War" filled the park in front of the White House today demanding an end to U.S. occupation of Iraq. Police said they arrested 189 people, one of them on a felony charge of carrying an incendiary device.

"USCP made 189 arrests at the US Capitol for individuals who crossed police lines and attempted to enter secure areas near the Capitol," said Capitol Police spokesperson Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. "Those arrested are currently being processed at US Capitol Police facilities. Two officers and two arrestees received minor injuries during the arrests."

No big surprise there at who the lawbreakers were. While Move America Forward had 27 rallies in 12 days without one arrest or incident of breaking the law, the anti-war protesters cannot manage to have ONE without getting 180+ people arrested.

AP and MSNBC are both reporting about this.

Despite claims that the far left fringes of the Democratic party "support the troops" but not their mission, please remember that their actions speak far louder than their rhetoric.

(HERE is their "support")

(Here is the patriots support)

(Here are the people that love America)

(Here are those that hate America, Hat tip to Victory Caucus)

All pictures from yesterdays rallies and protests.

ANY QUESTIONS about who the patriots are?

If you do, you certainly don't belong at this blog.

Here are two videos, 30 seconds each, from two more true patriots who were wounded in Iraq.

Please remember that Vets for Freedom with be on the hill on the 17th and 18th to show their support for the troops, true support being that this group is made up OF Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

Washington DC Rallies and Counter-protests : UPDATED AND BUMPED

Continuing this thread here.

[MAJOR UPDATE ON TOP] 150 anti-war protesters arrested- 0 counterprotesters broke the law and ZERO counterprotesters arrested.
Thousands of protesters marched Saturday from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war, leading to the arrests of at least 150 people.

Many of the protesters were arrested without a struggle after they jumped over a barricade near the base of the Capitol. But some grew angry as police attempted to push them back using large black shields and a chemical spray. Protesters responded by throwing signs and chanting: "Shame on you."

Before arriving at the Capitol lawn, the demonstrators marched on Pennsylvania Avenue holding banners and signs and saying, "What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now."

Counterprotesters lined the sidewalks behind metal barricades. There were some heated shouting matches between the two sides.

At the Capitol lawn, some protesters lay down with signs on top of their bodies to represent soldiers killed in Iraq.

The protesters gathered earlier Saturday near the White House in Lafayette Park with signs saying "End the war now" and calling for President Bush's impeachment. The rally was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and other groups.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan told the crowd is was time to be assertive.

"It's time to lay our bodies on the line and say we've had enough," she said. "It's time to shut this city down."

These supposed "peace activists" haven't a clue how to protest legally and stay within the law.

STARK CONTRAST.

The news just announced it was over 200 arrested!! I will look for a link.

[Updates below]

As Move America Forward, GOE, FreeRepublic, Eagles UpNameKnights and other pro-troops groups converge on Washington DC today, other groups like ANSWER (who we showed you yesterday stated they are prepared to commit acts of "civil disobedience" and to "get arrested") are there counterprotesting.

Michelle Malkin
is also there covering this live, so keep an eye on her site as well...great pictures already from last night are up.

People are calling me from there this morning, MArthur has already sent me a couple of pictures this morning before thiings kicked off of people ready and waiting for the event to start.

A good picture snatched from Malkin's site to show you the theme, but go look for yourself, some of those are really great..

Bob from Gathering of Eagles is joined with some Eagles Up folks and the NamKnights at the Veterans memorials because of rumors from the anti-war crowd that threatened to deface the wall...AGAIN... here are a few examples of the things they do, which is why those threats are taken seriously. Here are some more examples of the "peace activists" and how "peaceful" they really are and how they truly do support the troops and love our country.

Bob said that although there were a few from the ANSWER crowd hanging around, nothing had happened so far..LOL No doubt, I mean really, with all the veterans standing watch over the memorials, who would really be stupid enough to attempt that now?

I will be updating this all day long as the phone calls and pictures come in.

Mihelle is live blogging the Gathering of Eagles at this URL.

Update 10:35am Eastern. The anti-Cindy Sheehans are here! Blue Star mom Deborah Johns: “Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for me. She has never spoken for me. And she will never speak for me! We are winning this war. Now let our troops finish their job!…We are not going to let the domestic enemies at home defeat us like they did [during the Vietnam War.]…No retreat, no surrender. Not now. Not ever!…We are not 50 red states or blue states. We are the United States of America…These colors don’t run.”

Debbie Lee, mother of the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq, Mark A. Lee, speaks. Describing her son’s heroism. “You can’t ‘take’ someone’s life who gives it…and Mark willingly gave his life….God redeployed Mark to heaven.”

Singer Diana Nagy performs.

***
9:45am. The Gathering of Eagles are on Madison Ave. and 7th in front of the Capitol. Melanie Morgan of Move America Foward and Kristinn Taylor of FreeRepublic.com have just addressed a growing crowd. A priest ends his invocation: “Surrender is not a word in our vocabulary.”

Larry Bailey and Chris Hill of Gathering of Eagles have welcomed the activists. Hill: “What happened in Vietnam will not happen to this generation.” Hill mentions a 9/11 survivor who brought a large American flag flying on stage. “That’s what we fight for.”

Hill pumping up the crowd: “All across the country people are yelling at the television sets when they see Code Pink. They are looking for us. Yell loud enough so they can hear us. Yell loud enough so our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan can hear us.” Crowd is chanting: “USA, USA, USA!”

“It’s time for us to yell back…We’re not taking it anymore.”

Pete Hegseth of Vets for Freedom
:

“I figured I’d seize this opportunity to quote a man best known for his $400 haircut. He claims there are two Americas in this country. For once, he’s right. There are two Americas…on display here today.

One America here today to desecreate our war memorials…those who want to retreat from the battlefield teeming with Islamic extremists

On the other hand, there are those who are here to defend our memorials, who understand the threat we face. This America. Our America…We cannot let a bunch of sign-waving, slogan-chanting protesters…speak for us.”

Hegseth mentions the MoveOn.org ad. “Stand up to the voices of defeat and retreat….As an infantryman who fought over there, I understand the difficulties…al Qaeda has drawn the line in the sand…I understand that Gen. Petraeus is working with American soldiers, brave Iraqis, to turn the tide in Iraq…Americans are saying, ‘We want victory.’”

“History will judge us not by when we leave, but by what we leave behind…Tell Congress to have as much courage on Capitol Hill as our soldiers have on the front lines.”

Brad Blakeman of the newly-created Freedom’s Watch now addressing the crowd. “Message to Code Pink: There’s a new sheriff in town and we plan to be around a long time.”

Military of the Order of Purple Heart commander Henry Cook on stage welcoming the crowd.

Popular singer Lloyd Marcus performs, “Remember 9/11.”

[Update from Clyde]

Clyde from Gathering of Eagles just called me to report:

Gathering of Eagles have members along a four block area on the south side of the street on Constitution Avenue, flags held high and waiting to greet the "moonbats" that should be flowing through shortly.

About a dozen Gold Star families are there and have been speaking in support of the troops and of victory and in full support of the president.

Another group was holding a pro-support rally at the Navy Memorial on the north side of the street.

He will be sending me photos soon.

(Picture emailed to me from Clyde GOE)

I see some modest coverage of todays event in the news.

From the AP 5 hrs ago:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Thousands of opponents and supporters of the U.S. presence in Iraq will converge Saturday in the nation's capital for a day of demonstrations.

The anti-war ANSWER Coalition is planning a rally at Lafayette Square, followed by a march to the Capitol and "die-in," where thousands plan to risk arrest by entering areas where they're not supposed to go.

Meanwhile, a groups that support the Iraq war are planning a rally of their own. Gathering of Eagles and Free Republic are set to meet on the Mall and line the protest route.

Wapo shows what we showed you yesterday, where the pro-support rallies are always peaceful, this is the type of things the anti-war protesters do and prepare for:

Organizers said at least 1,000 people had registered for the "die-in" at the Capitol. Most people registered online earlier in the week, but others did today at the site of the rally.

Those who registered were given a four-page handout instructing them to be "willing to risk arrest.'' In case they are arrested, the handout said, protesters should bring their medication and make sure they have eaten.

"You should eat prior to risking arrest,'' the handout said. "It may be several hours before you have access to food.''

Two counterprotest groups, the Gathering of Eagles, made up of Vietnam veterans, and the D.C. chapter of the conservative group Free Republic, led today's counterdemonstrations.

At the U.S. Navy Memorial, members of the Gathering of Eagles set up a command post in anticipation of counter protesters who planned to line Pennsylvania Avenue near 7th St. NW. Organizers said they plan to counter antiwar protestor's chants but had no plans for civil disobedience.

"It will be a lot of bull horns, a lot of 'singing God Bless America', " said Betty Kilbride, 48, of Arlington, a writer who described herself as supporting the troops. Deborah King-Lile, 55, of St. Augustine, Fla. said the Gathering of Eagles prided themselves on not being arrested at protests. "We just want a chance to show America we don't agree with the vocal minority."

The contrast couldn't be any more start between these two groups.

I will ask again... who are the "peace activists"?

[Update] Others that are also bringing news and reports on the Gathering of Eagles, Free Republic, Move America Forward and the pro-support rallies are:

Noblesse Oblige, The Conservative Revolution, And Rightly So, Victory Caucus, Sister Toldjah, Political Pistachio and many many more I will bring to you as I read them.

Another picture emailed to me from Clyde:

Michelle Malkin hears the supposed "peace activists are throwing eggs at the veterans...yeah THEY support the troops huh?

More from Murdoc Online.

[Update] Malkin Update:

Update 5:00pm Eastern. Well, they came, they spewed, they cursed. Several thousand Soros marchers descended on the Capitol yelling “Fuck Bush” and “Fuck you” at Gold Star Families. As Capitol Hill police arrested the “die-in” participants, young peaceniks shouted “What does a pig look like? The Capitol police” and “Oink! Oink! Oink.” Others shrieked about “Fascism!” and gleefully performed “Sieg Heil” salutes. We’ll have video from the midst of the moonbats. Across from Taft Park, some anti-American demonstrators waving a large, upside-down American flag and pulling a coffin with Army boots got in a scuffle with Eagles. We’ll have that video of that as well.

It’s difficult to make any crowd estimates at this point. The Eagles were spread all along the protest/counterprotest route. From our vantage point, the Eagles were several thousand strong. And many will be back tomorrow and throughout the week lobbying on Capitol Hill. As Col. Harry Riley told me just now:

“We’re not going away.”

[Update] A few arrests at the protest and BIG SURPRISE, it is once again the anti-war protesters that get arrested!!!!

WASHINGTON (AP) - Thousands of protesters marched Saturday from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war.

U.S. Capitol Police arrested least seven people who jumped over a barricade near the base of the Capitol. Nearly 100 officers were standing guard, and the protesters were arrested without a struggle.

To contrats this, Move America Forward has had 27 stops in 12 days covering over 3,000 miles and NOT ONE BROKE THE LAW and none were arrested.

Again I ask, WHO are the "peaceful" ones?

[Update] Bob from Gathering of Eagles emailed a note and some pictures for us:

Well, I had a pretty full day at the Vietnam Memorial. I met up with Dave Lewis and one the Maryland Chapters of the Nam Knights MC around 8:30 in the morning. They were given their assigned posts which included the wall and others close to the Wall. They were joined by other Nam Knights Chapters.

In all, the day went pretty well. Many tourists were able to visit the Memorials without being harassed by the moon bats. I would say that we saw a total of 8 from the ANSWER group but they either held their signs low or had them rolled up. They knew better than to try something.

Snooper and I exchanged phone calls during the day just to check on what the other was experiencing. Seems that Snooper witnessed the brunt of the action.

We were really pleased with the reaction from the visitors. Many knew why we were there and thank us. Several who didn't know asked. Their view of the ANSWER crowd was that they are anti-American.

In the next few days I will submit a piece about the Nam Knights MC. They are truly an amazing group of guys. I will be contacting Dave Lewis of the Nam Knights so I can be sure I have all the names correct.

Snooper from Take Our Country Back sent along his picture with Michelle Malkin, he seems to have enjoyed himself immensely.

His update from email:

I have checked and confirmed that moonbats jumped an Eagle and bit him.

A fight ensued.

COPS used tear gas and rubber bullets.

SO much for "the peaceful"
