This is a summary of what happened at the White House this week covering the period from Sunday, August 16 through Saturday, August 22, 2026.

On August 18, 2026, the White House published the release President Trump Delivers the Largest Drop in Violent Crime in American History reiterating the fact that violent crimes plunged 9.3%, murder dropped 18.1%, robbery fell 18.5%, rape declined 7.6%, aggravated assault fell 7.2%, and property crime dropped 12.4% according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Report for 2025. 

To which I must respond that the data the FBI uses is reported by individual jurisdictions. We have seen violent crimes negotiated down to misdemeanors and reports where "people of color" are recorded as "white" and men are recorded as "women" in those jurisdictions, so I don't trust their numbers anymore. However, I do agree with Secretary Mullin (in the x post below) that removing illegal aliens has cut crime tremendously.

The article concludes:

President Trump backed law enforcement, empowered the FBI to hunt predators instead of political targets, and rejected the failed Democrat lunacy that left communities reeling. The results are clear: fewer murders, fewer victims, and safer streets.




On August 19, 2026, President Trump appointed Dr. Heidi Overton as the next FDA Commissioner.

On August 17, 2026, the White House published the release President Trump Delivers Largest Prescription Drug Price Drop in Over 60 Years announcing that the Most Favored Nation policy and TrumpRx have driven prescription prices to a new low. The release found that prescription drug prices are down 3.9% and nonprescription drugs are down 2.4%; medical equipment and supplies are down 2.7%; the VA recorded more than $10B in savings for prescription drugs; and more savings are projected as more drugs are added to TrumpRx.



On August 17, 2026, the White House published the release ICYMI: “USS Lincoln: Performance For the Ages” describing an op-ed written by US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper describing his visit to the USS Abraham Lincoln. He found extraordinary American sailors with unwavering dedication to the US, the mission, and each other. He wrote:

The crew is tired, but they continue to fire on all cylinders. History will record this deployment as one of the most operationally intense and consequential of the modern era.

From personal experience, I can tell you that MOST service members look forward to being in the field because it is the only time they can actually do the job for which they were trained. Civilians, like parents, spouses, and children, do not understand this basic fact of military life. Yes, field conditions are horrible. Yes, you wish you could just go to the store and buy a treat. Yes, you wish you had door dash. BUT, you recognize that the situation is ultimately temporary and that you will return to those things at the end of your field duty. It is a fact of life in the military, no matter what the branch. And I'm sure many Veterans have stories to tell of their deployments that would make the recent reports about the USS Lincoln look like kindergarten play. On top of that, those sailors are on a ship that feeds them 3 'real' meals a day - per shift! They're not stuck eating cold rations out of a can or bag (unless you find some way to heat them)!

On August 16, 2026, Eric L Daugherty announced that President Trump, DOJ, and the Pentagon have increased the military presence at our Southern border. They are preparing to designate areas along the border as National Defense zones which will be closed to everyone except the military and Border Patrol.


On August 20, 2026, President Trump signed the Presidential Memoranda The National Space Transportation Policy along with its accompanying Fact Sheet President Donald J. Trump Launches the Golden Age of Space Transportation for the purpose of reinvigorating US leadership in space transportation. This Memoranda will enable over 1,000 launches (and re-entries) a year by 2030.

This is not the first we have heard on this topic. Back in June of 2025 (discussed in my June 27, 2025 ANP Article)  President Trump signed 2 airspace EOs: 14304 Leading the World in Supersonic Flight, and 14305 Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty. By August of 2025 (discussed in my August 14, 2025 ANP Article) President trump introduced the EO 14335 Enabling Competition in the Commercial Space Industry (upon which this current Memoranda is based). By December 2025, another EO 14369 Ensuring American Space Superiority announcing our return to the Moon through the Artemis Program (discussed in my December 19, 2026 ANP Article).

President Trump believes this focus will strengthen competition in the space transportation industry while making American leadership in space great again.

On August 19, 2026, the White House published the release President Trump’s Trade Agenda Is Rebuilding the American Auto Industry announcing that Ford Motor Company will move its production of Lincoln models back to the US. Ford CEO Jim Farley stated We made this decision as soon as the policy of the Administration was set. Ford joins Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Trucks, Stellantis, Nissan, Hyundai Motor Group, and Rolls-Royce in moving/building auto manufacturing plants in the US. The release concludes:

President Trump’s America First agenda is scoring a decisive victory over decades of offshoring. Companies that once chased cheap labor overseas are now pouring capital into U.S. plants — delivering vehicles Made in America, by American workers, for American consumers.

On August 18, 2026, President Trump signed Proclamation 11056 Temporary Suspension of Additional Duties to Offset Canadian Discrimination Against the Commerce of the United States with Respect to Alcoholic Beverages, Dairy, and Motor Vehicles because Canada implemented tariffs that discriminate against the US and not other purveyors of these products.

By August 22, 2026, the loony left apparently got ahold of PM Carney promising a better deal after the US mid-term elections in November, so he dropped out of the current deal, saying:

  • 00:00 Canada is walking away from a bad deal.
  • 03:58 We cannot accept what they’ve offered and we will not give what they’ve asked.
  • 07:28 Carney explains the latest threatened 50% U.S. tariffs.
  • 08:29 Canada was prepared to drop remaining retaliatory tariffs on steel, aluminum and autos if Washington substantially lowered theirs.
  • 09:10 Canada would encourage provinces to put U.S. alcohol back on shelves and make administrative moves around supply management.
  • 09:31 Carney says sovereignty, key industries, French language and culture were red lines.
  • 10:04 Says Washington suddenly demanded terms that were uneconomic and unfair.
  • 10:56 They asked too much and they offered too little.
  • Negotiations suspended.
  • 11:21 Canada will now retaliate dollar for dollar.
  • 12:30 Carney admits those tariffs will raise prices and reduce choice for Canadians.
  • 13:18 The speech pivots into Carney selling his economic record, infrastructure plans, trade diversification and a Canada less dependent on the U.S.
  • 22:38 We make our own weather.

On August 22, 2023, with Canada officially backing out of the offered trade agreement, the tariffs of August 18, 2026 are now in full effect.

On August 19, 2026, President Trump met with Finance, Crypto (digital assets), Technology Leaders at the White House for the first meeting of the Commodity Futures Technology Committee (CFTC) Innovation Advisory Committee in Washington DC where President Trump introduced the members of the Advisory Committee.

On August 22, 2026, the Office of the First Lady announced the First Lady would accept a scholarship donation from IndyCar Freedom 250 during a press conference.

On August 20, 2026, the Office of the First Lady published the statement $2 Million Donation Expands First Lady Melania Trump’s Fostering the Future Initiative to Indiana University and Purdue University. These two universities join the growing coast-to-coast alliance of leading academic institutions expanding the network to 26 universities participating (the X post below lists all participants). Mrs. Trump said:

America’s greatest competitive advantage remains in its own people. Tomorrow’s leaders are sitting in classrooms today, including those growing up in foster care. Their capability is no less remarkable.

On August 17, 2026, the Office of the First Lady published the statement First Lady Melania Trump’s Efforts Prove Successful in Ukraine-Russia announcing the 34th reunification of a child with her family. First Lady Melania Trump asserts:

There is nothing more powerful than reuniting a mother with her child after an extended period of time.  My representative and I are focused on helping facilitate the next reunification of individuals who have been separated from their loved ones because of the war between Ukraine and Russia.

On August 19, 2026, the FR published Proclamation 11056 Temporary Suspension of Additional Duties To Offset Canadian Discrimination Against the Commerce of the United States With Respect to Alcoholic Beverages, Dairy, and Motor Vehicles Signed August 18, 2026 (discussed above)


On August 21, 2026, SCOTUS Chief Justice Roberts ruled on President Trump's emergency request and ordered the construction on the ballroom to continue while the court case is moving through the courts.


On August 21, 2026, the White House published the release President Trump and Republicans Deliver for South Carolina Families touting the impact of the OBBB (the index my various ANP Articles can be found in my August 2, 2025 ANP Article) in South Carolina, how President Trump's law-and-order agenda is helping South Carolina become safer, and how President Trump's economic agenda is bringing businesses to South Carolina. The release concludes:

President Trump and Republicans are proving once again that America First means South Carolina First — delivering results for families, workers, seniors, and every community across the Palmetto State.

On August 20, 2026, the White House published the release President Trump’s Cabinet Champions America First Successes Nationwide showcasing how his people are on the ground across the nation working to implement his America First agenda. The release highlights efforts in Dubuque, IA; Texas; West Michigan; La Crosse, WI; Indiana; Omaha, NE; Bakersfield, CA; Alaska; Rio Grande Valley, TX; Yuma, AZ; Los Angeles, CA; Pella, IA; Iowa; Topeka, KS; Colorado; Charlottesville, VA; Houston, TX, Iowa; Tampa, FL; Des Moines, IA; Fresno, CA; Ohio; Iowa; Cincinnati, OH; Iowa; Phoenix, AZ; and San Diego, CA. The release highlights:

From energy dominance and infrastructure modernization to manufacturing growth, veterans’ care, and border security, these visits deliver an unmistakable message: the America First agenda is delivering real, measurable wins for the American people.

On August 19, 2026, President Trump escorted prestitutes on a tour of the new heliport/pad being installed on the lawn of the White House near the currently-under-construction-ballroom. The funds were donated by a helicopter company to build the helipad.


On August 17, 2026, the White House published the Presidential Message on National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week thanking employers for their patriotism in supporting our citizen warriors of the National Guard and Reserve. These citizen warriors have been instrumental in restoring law and order around our nation as they stand guard in some of our most dangerous cities holding vigil over transit hubs, public spaces, and federal facilities. Their diligence has allowed local law enforcement in those cities to pursue the criminals. The results has been a huge drop in crime in these areas. President Trump reminds us without employers who hold the citizen warrior's position open for them upon their return none of what has been accomplished would have happened. Employers provide flexibility and support to citizen warriors when they are called to duty. However, it is not a one-way street as those civilian warriors return to work becoming some of America's best workers as they bring with them the leadership, discipline, and skills learned during their deployments that they can use on the job. President Trump writes:

This week, the First Lady and I salute every National Guardsman and Reservist, the military spouses and families whose sacrifice at home makes every mission possible, and the employers who stand behind them.  Together, we will keep our communities thriving and our Armed Forces the strongest and most respected the world has ever known.


On August 16, 1780, the Battle of Camden, South Carolina, became a major part of the British southern strategy. Lieutenant-general Lord Cornwallis and his 2,100 troops engaged Major General Horatio Gates' 4,000 Patriots 4 miles north of Camden, South Carolina (but the majority of Gates' forces were experiencing starvation and illness). This battle began the Patriot's use asymmetrical warfare (ambushes, guerrilla warfare, insurgency, rebellion, terrorism, and the like) against the British. The British forces losses were 69 killed, 245 wounded, and 11 missing. The Patriot's losses were 900 killed or wounded, over 1,000 captured, along with the whole of their artillery (8 field pieces, almost 200 wagons, and their supplies). This was a resounding loss for the Patriots. But, this loss simply caused the Patriots to become even more involved in repelling the British and securing their Independence from Britain.


On August 22 & 23, 2026, The Freedom 250 Grand Prix will be held in Washington DC. This event is part of EO 14381 Celebrating American Greatness with American Motor Racing in which the racers will travel in such a manner as to highlight our nation's capital (discussed in my January 31, 2026 ANP Article). The race map (available in my July 14, 2026 ANP Article) shows the route the racers took.

On August 22, 2026, President Trump hosted recently released Kevin Rideout in the Oval Office.

On August 17, 2026, Eric L Daughtery reported that Kevin Rideout, a Christian who was kidnapped by Islamists in Niger is the 110th person for whom President Trump has secured a release.

On August 17, 2026, President Trump honored Ryder Williams, 16yo lifeguard in California who saved the life of 10yo Nathaniel Rai in the Oval Office when Nathaniel got pulled under on a California beach. President Trump told Ryder that he would personally write a letter of recommendation for him when he pursues his desire to be a Firefighter Paramedic.
