Two Tennessee Politicians Are Taking Aim At The Flock Growing Surveillance Empire

Two prominent Tennessee Republicans are raising alarms over the rapid expansion of automated license plate reader technology, warning that the growing network of surveillance cameras could erode Americans’ privacy without adequate legal safeguards.

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Rep. Tim Burchett, who is a former Knox County Mayor, are both calling for action as Flock Safety’s automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras continue spreading across Tennessee and the country.

“I appreciate Congressman Burchett’s efforts to bring this attention at the national level,” Jacobs told the Daily Caller in a statement. “As technology advances, we need to make sure the rules and regulations surrounding these devices keeps up and continues to protect the rights and liberties of our citizens.”

The concerns come as Flock Safety has rapidly grown into one of the nation’s largest providers of ALPR technology. The company’s cameras are marketed as crime-fighting tools that can help law enforcement locate stolen vehicles, identify suspects and assist in criminal investigations.

However, citizens and government officials are skeptical that the expanding network amounts to mass surveillance of ordinary Americans who are not suspected of committing crimes.

In Tennessee, Jacobs is urging county officials to reject the deployment of Flock cameras altogether. In a video statement posted Monday, Jacobs argued that today’s AI-powered license plate readers go far beyond older systems that merely photographed license plates for short-term law enforcement use.

“While License Plate Readers have been around for a while, because of AI and vastly increased networking and data retention capacities, these Flock cameras have capabilities not even imagined in the past,” Jacobs said.


He warned that modern Flock cameras use artificial intelligence to catalog additional information about vehicles, including their make, model, color and even bumper stickers.

“That data is stored in a searchable database for sometimes up to a month or more, depending on the policies of that particular agency,” Jacobs explained. “When these cameras are deployed in large numbers, they create a network that can be used to track your movements.”

Jacobs expressed his fear that these cameras are, “inadvertently creating a warrantless mass surveillance system” and called for Congress to take action.

Burchett’s forthcoming legislation would seek to place limits on the use of surveillance technology.

“We gotta keep our country safe. What we can’t sacrifice is the freedoms, of course, that define us,” Burchett said in a video post to X on July 23. “It violates the fourth amendment.”


Burchett introduced H.R. 9800 to Congress on July 21. The Protection Against Mass Surveillance Act would prohibit federal agencies from purchasing, using, accessing, or contracting for a wide range of surveillance technologies. It would also bar state, local, and federal governments from using federal funds to acquire or operate those systems.

Burchett claims that the cameras “violate our constitutional rights” and force Americans to “choose between safety and liberty.” He explains that law enforcement and intelligence agencies should have tools to address threats, but “taking our constitutional rights is not on the table.”

“Trust but verify, that’s what Reagan said,” Burchett said. “This legislation, of course, it’ll hopefully restore the constitutional balance between national security and individual liberty.”

Black Lives Matter At It Again, Taking Over The Wisconsin Streets, And Harassing Businesses Over Shooting Of Career Criminal That Knifed A Cop

I am going to describe a scene and ask readers to consider it for a moment.

Man is looking for a car to break into, and the cops are called about this guy checking a bunch of locked cars. Cops come, guys tries to flee. cops catch him, there is a struggle between four cops and this guy they cannot subdue. Guy pulls a knife, slashes and inures two cops, and gets shot by the officer he stabbed and/or slashes. Later this man dies in the hospital.

Here is one of the reports describing the incident that occurred from July 23, 2026, by Wisconsin State Journal:

Madison Police said officers were called to the neighborhood about 1 p.m. Wednesday on a report of someone trying to enter parked vehicles. Police said officers found the suspect, but he drove away on a bicycle. Officers saw the man about 30 minutes later, and he either fell off or was pulled off his bike.

A struggle ensued and police said the man pulled out a knife when he was being arrested and injured an officer.

Madison Police do not wear body cameras, but police said there might be footage on a dash camera.

Bystander videos show three officers trying to subdue the man. A fourth officer runs up and yells "Taser Taser." Police say a Taser was deployed but did not work.

One of the officers fires his weapon three times, hitting the suspect, who later died.

Later reports indicate that two officers were injured, but no information on how bad either of those injuries were.

My reaction upon first seeing the story on July 23, was anyone that pulls a knife on cops trying to arrest, detain, question or subdue him, should expect to get shot.


ENTER BLACK LIVES MATTER

Evidently if the the man is in a higher-than-normal crime area and happens to be black, it is a reason to protest to the point where city events have to be cancelled due to the violence that generally follows Black Lives Matter wherever they go.

Via CNN, not exactly a "trusted" source, so I did verify the cancelling of events elsewhere just to confirm. The use of CNN is to show how their "coverage" is geared to literally fan the flames of discontent and racial division.

Corey Ruiz, who is identified as Black or Latino in Wisconsin court records, was shot and killed by a Madison police officer on Wednesday after a brief scuffle at an intersection in the city’s most liberal neighborhood just yards away from a popular 52-year-old food co-op.

A "brief scuffle" they say. Nowhere in the article itself does it mention the man pulled a knife, nor mention the injured officers.

Here is CNN trying to fan the flames:

It marks the third time since 2012 that Madison police have shot and killed someone in the same neighborhood. The shooting has sparked renewed calls for police reforms and forced the city to once again reckon with calls from the Black community to address racial justice issues.

I don't care if the man was Hispanic, black, white, or green with polka dots, when you "scuffle" with police, pull a knife, and injure two cops, and a taser has no effect in stopping you, one should expect to get shot. 

Ok, back to the events.

One of the events that was cancelled is described in the following manner:

Protesters took to the streets hours after the shooting, disrupting a popular Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra outdoor concert at the state Capitol that attracts about 30,000 every week in the summer.

The scene captures a familiar divide in Madison, a city that is more diverse than the state overall but still 70% white. Protesters, many of whom were Black, stood over white concert attendees sitting at tables near the stage that cost as much as $1,800 to rent for the night.

Concert organizers canceled the event.


Other events that were cancelled and/or postponed include a grand opening of a new public market, a popular neighborhood festival called AtwoodFest, and a popular downtown farmers market that attracts about 20,000 people each week around the Capitol building, shut down nearly four hours earlier than usual "in solidarity with protesters."

Madison Police Chief John Patterson, who is white, has tried to calm tensions, even allowing protesters to overtake a news conference that he was leading along with the mayor inside the police department’s downtown headquarters on Thursday.

What they neglect to mention in the article is that as the Police Chief just hands the press conference over to the protester, another one stands behind him, at the podium, with a sigh that reads "Corrupt cops deserve to die too!!! F*ck you kill Peterson."

ESCALATION

On July 28, Townhall gives us more background on the man that was shot as well as some of the events showing how this is escalating.

First, let us meet the man they are protesting over:

Things aren't going well in Madison. The Wisconsin capital has been under siege, held hostage by angry leftists who are upset that police shot a career criminal in self-defense last week. Cory Durrell Ruiz had at least 40 arrests on his record including for violent felonies, he was freed from prison back in May and already failed to comply with the terms of his supervised release.

40 arrests, with violent felonies. This is BLM's poster boy for "racial justice"? 

According to Newsweek, although you have to scroll way down in their article about Ruiz, his crimes include retail theft and resisting or obstructing an officer in 2024, he was convicted of battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor or law enforcement officer, In 2021, Ruiz had been convicted of resisting an officer with substantial bodily harm, prior convictions for felony cocaine and marijuana possession in 2014, and a misdemeanor disorderly conduct in 2007.

According to the TownHall report cited above, BLM has set up another "autonomous zone, complete with borders and their own version of ICE."

Protesters have also been harassing people and business owners

It looks like they are planning to stay a while, which always leads to violence as they start demanding more and more until the police finally get to go-ahead from their liberal city officials to break it up and take back the streets of the Capitol.

These are the same tactics used in the 2020 BLM riots, which left us with images like the one below:


BOTTOM LINE

These protests have not gone nation-wide yet like the George Floyd riots did in 2020, but BLM's involvement almost guarantees that escalation will continue.

The media, as shown in the CNN report above is fanning the flames deliberately by refusing to detail that Ruiz was a violent criminal, arrested 40 times, and that he pulled a knife on a cop and injured him before said cop shot him.

The "conspiracy theorist" in me wonders about the timing of these protests, as well as the escalation, as we near the midterms. Were marching orders given out by Democrats to what has been seen as their "paramilitary" arms, meaning Antifa and BLM, to get civil unrest started as some sort of election strategy?

Just something to think about as we watch this story continue to unfold.

There Is No Justice In Minnesota - The First Amendment Is Dead In The North Star State,  Justice Is Dead, Too

Last week, a Minnesota jury convicted Shiloh Hendrix of disorderly conduct for using a racial slur against a Somali man who was harassing and recording her.  The “crime” occurred in a public park last year after Hendrix caught a Somali child stealing from her handbag.  Hendrix had her hands full with her own toddler at the time, and her protective maternal instincts kicked in.  

Black Lives Matter (a domestic terror group that Democrats and Mitt Romney enthusiastically support, even after BLM caused more property damage during the 2020 George Floyd riots than any other event in American history) demanded that Hendrix be charged with a crime.  Minnesota prosecutors complied.  And anti-American, open borders Democrats got their scalp.  Hendrix was found “guilty” for saying a naughty word.

This is the same state that has done nothing while Democrat-aligned domestic terrorists attack Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.  During those encounters, black and Hispanic officers are called horrendously racist names.  Similarly, when Islamic supremacists march through Minneapolis calling for Israel’s eradication, they use the most offensive language to intimidate Jewish-Americans.  Because corrupt Governor Tim Walz sympathizes with these dangerous leftwing fanatics, their use of the “n-word” is treated as protected free speech.  As soon as a young, white mother uses the same word to push back against a stalking Somali migrant, Minnesota’s Democrat cowards decide that language must be punished more vigorously than anti-ICE terrorists who use their vehicles as murder weapons.

Just to put this betrayal of the First Amendment in perspective, this is the same Minnesota criminal “justice” system that permitted state employee Dylan Bryan Adams to vandalize Teslas around the Minneapolis area last year and cause tens of thousands of dollars in damage without suffering any real consequences.  Adams engaged in that crime spree because he was angry that Elon Musk was using his DOGE team to identify government fraud.  Democrats love to launder taxpayer dollars into the bank accounts of NGOs and special interest groups, so they encouraged their army of Democrat domestic terrorists to set Teslas on fire across the country.  State employee Adams got the message and did his part.  Minnesota’s Democrat prosecutors thanked him for his service by declining to press charges.  

In order to appreciate how unjust the decision not to prosecute Adams was, consider this: At the same time that Minnesota’s Democrat prosecutors rewarded Adams for his “politically correct” animus toward Elon Musk, they charged a nineteen-year-old woman with no criminal record with first-degree felony property damage for keying a coworker’s car.  Because her vandalism had nothing to do with attacking Elon Musk or President Trump, she did not receive the Dylan Bryan Adams special treatment.  Because Democrats considered Adams’s crime spree a noble exercise in “political speech,” he was even rewarded with a promotion and pay raise for his criminal behavior.  

In order to understand just how corrupt and politicized Minnesota’s criminal “justice” system has become, it is worth taking a closer look at Sharmake Omar, the Somali who followed and recorded Shiloh Hendrix as she attempted to leave the park while carrying her child in her arms.  The same Minnesota authorities who prosecuted Hendrix dismissed rape charges against Omar “in the interest of justice” one month before he filmed Hendrix and her child and uploaded the video to TikTok.  

In 2022, Omar was charged along with another Somali for allegedly raping a teenage girl who had run away from her foster home.  The girl identified the pair in a photo line-up.  In her statement, she alleged that Omar and his friend offered her a place to stay, took her to a trailer, stole her shoes so that she couldn’t leave, and raped her for several days.  The juvenile girl escaped in a pair of oversized rain boots, reached a public phone, and called a previous foster care parent for help.  The former foster parent immediately reported the rape to the police and took the child to a Minneapolis children’s hospital.  Omar was arrested.  

Just before Omar was scheduled to stand trial, Minnesota’s prosecutors inexplicably dropped the charges.  A month later, Omar turned into a BLM poster boy by racking up tens of millions of views for his TikTok video of Hendrix.  Can you imagine the aberrant personality and temperament of someone who, having just recently avoided standing trial for raping a child, felt emboldened enough to harass a young mother on a playground?  Minnesota authorities have coddled Somalis so obsequiously (Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey gave his victory speech in Somali, for goodness’ sake!) that accused child rapists aren’t the slightest bit afraid of being caught filming children in parks.

This is the abysmal state of criminal “justice” in the leftwing nuthouse of Minnesota.  Black Lives Matter arsonists burn down homes and businesses across the Minneapolis area (while leaving plenty of unsolved homicides in their wake), and Governor Tim Walz applauds the Democrat Party’s favorite domestic terrorists as “civil rights heroes.”  Anti-ICE domestic terrorists obstruct the arrests of foreign murderers, rapists, and pedophiles, and Minnesota Democrats lionize individuals who threaten the lives of cops.  Those same anti-ICE domestic terrorists scream profanities (including the “n-word”) at black law enforcement officers every time they try to do their jobs by protecting ungrateful Minnesotans from their deadly “sanctuary city” policies.  Minnesota not only lets state employee Dylan Bryan Adams off the hook for causing tens of thousands of dollars in property damage but also rewards his criminality because he chose to target fellow Minnesotans for driving Democrat bogeyman Elon Musk’s Teslas.  Minnesota’s Democrat prosecutors drop child rape charges against Sharmake Omar “in the interest of justice” and then, one month later, turn him into a star witness against a young, white Minnesota woman who used a bad word while an alleged child rapist followed and recorded her.

There is no “justice” in Minnesota.  Those who do not belong to a protected class — Somali, domestic terrorist, rapist, pedophile, etc. — should get the heck out of the North Star State.  Minnesota won’t be safe until its suicidal tendencies succeed.  Only after foreign and domestic criminals have robbed, raped, and murdered enough Minnesotans to break through the leftwing delusions of brainwashed “progressives” will Minnesota have a chance to restore sanity.  Even then, however, the state’s survival will depend entirely upon whether Minnesotans finally realize that responsible, no-nonsense lawmen are the only kind of people who might save them.  The Somalis will not lift a finger to stop violence in Minnesota.  The anti-ICE, Antifa, and BLM domestic terrorists thrive on violence.  Only virtuous law enforcement officers who are willing to put their lives on the line for strangers can stop this madness and resurrect Minnesota.  Unfortunately, those are the very people whom Governor Tim Walz and his fellow Democrat goons vilify every single day.

Given how broken Minnesota has become under Democrat Party rule, prosecuting a young mother for her angry words seems poisonously symbolic.  Minnesota authorities refuse to protect citizens from criminal illegal aliens.  Minnesota authorities refuse to protect citizens from domestic terrorists.  Minnesota authorities have given Minnesota’s criminals general amnesty.  But citizens who dare to violate “politically correct” commandments are punished with the full force of the law.  The First Amendment is dead in the North Star State.  Justice is dead, too.

  • VOTE 213 - On the Motion to Proceed - HR5334 - A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow early childhood educators to take the educator expense deduction, and for other purposes - Agreed to 84 (50 GOP, 33 Dem, 1 Ind) - 12 (1 GOP,  10 Dem, 1 Ind) with 4 members not voting Gallego (D-AZ), Graham (R-SC), McConnell (R-KY), and Whitehouse (D-RI)

The SENATE will reconvene July 30, 2026 at 10am. 


And yet, 14 current Senators (all GOP) have now come forward to pledge to stay in session until they can send the SAVE America Act to President Trump's desk for his signature.

Congress, in its Sessions, Adjournments, and Recesses of Congress posting, in the section on Extraordinary Sessions states:

The President may call additional sessions of Congress, pursuant to his constitutional power "on extraordinary Occasions, [to] convene both Houses, or either of them." A session called by the President pursuant to this authority is known as an "extraordinary" session. An extraordinary session stands on the same basis as the regular sessions in respect of its beginning, recess, and adjournment. 

If it takes a 3/5 vote to keep the Senate in session, it won't matter what the GOP does because they do not have 3/5 control in the Senate. It's 53 GOP to 45 Democrats and 2 Independents (why do they even call themselves Independents since they follow whatever the Democrats do) to tank anything that comes from President Trump no matter how good it will be for our country or how many of We The People want it passed!


The HOUSE is still on a pro forma vacation until 7/30 at 9:30am when they will most likely renew their pro forma vacation for another 3 days because the Senate is still not doing their job for We The People.

On July 23, 2026, the DOJ issued new guidance to reflect recent SCOTUS decisions expanding religious liberty in the press release Acting Attorney General Blanche Issues Updated Guidance to Strengthen Federal Religious Liberty Protections. The key updates in the updated guidance (the 26 page memorandum pdf is available online here):

  • Integration of recent Supreme Court precedent. The memo reflects recent judicial decisions clarifying the scope of the First Amendment, RFRA’s broad protection of religious liberty, and the requirement of equal treatment toward religious organizations in government programs. 
  • Protection of parental rights. The updated guidance emphasizes the Supreme Court’s recent precedents confirming that the Constitution protects parents’ ability to direct the religious upbringing of their children. 
  • Reaffirmation of church autonomy.  The guidance highlights constitutional protections that bar government interference in internal religious governance, including employment. 
  • Expanded direction for federal agencies. Agencies are instructed to proactively consider religious‑liberty impacts when developing rules and policies, designate officers to review regulatory proposals for compliance, and ensure enforcement actions respect RFRA and other protections.  Agencies must also consider religious‑liberty concerns raised by the public during notice‑and‑comment periods. 
  • Clarified protections in federal employment. The guidance reaffirms that agencies must follow recent Office of Legal Counsel opinions when accommodating religious expression and practice in the workplace, including scheduling accommodations and workplace religious expression. 
  • Safeguards for religious organizations in federal contracting and grant programs. Agencies may not condition an individual’s participation in federal programs on relinquishing their religious character or hiring rights.  Religious organizations must be permitted to compete on equal footing with secular organizations.

On July 29, 2026, the White House published the statement Presidential Message on the Birthday of Alexis de Tocqueville and my first thoughts were: Huh? Who is this guy? The statement says Alexis was a great witness to our young Republic who had a brilliant political mind. Various sources say Alexis was a French diplomat, political philosopher/scientist, and an historian. So I did a little research and found:

Alexis Charles Henri Clérel, comte de Tocqueville[a] was born on July 29, 1805 in Paris, France to an aristocratic Norman family (descendants of Viking Warriors and West Francia locals). 

Alexis was the 3rd son of Hervé Louis François Jean Bonaventure Clérel, Count of Tocqueville, an officer of the Constitutional Guard of King Louis XVI, and Louise Madeleine Le Peletier de Rosanbo. Instead of being guillotined, like his grandfather, Guillaume-Chrétien de Lamoignon de Malesherbes who was guillotined in 1793, the Bourbon Restoration made Hervé prefect and noble peer of France.

Alexis is described as having a frail voice in a fragile body, diminutive in stature, acutely sensitive, and plagued by severe bouts of anxiety. Alexis attended senior high school at the Lycée Fabert School in the city centre of Metz, Moselle department, Lorraine, France. Lycée Fabert School was the first school built in Metz. He then went to Paris where he studied law. He was later appointed a magistrate in Versailles where he met the woman who would become his wife, Mary Mottley, and the man who would become his friend and travel companion, Gustave de Beaumont.

Alexis was close friends with Gustave de Beaumont, a French Magistrate and prison reformer. They had similar backgrounds and life histories. They became companions on their travels throughout America, England, and Algeria. They coordinated their writings and entered the legislature together.

In 1831, Alexis and Gustave were granted a mission to examine prisons and penitentiaries in the US by the Monarchy. Once they got to the US they visited a few prisons which would become the report The Penitentiary System in the United States. Then they traveled widely for 9 months with Alexis taking extensive notes on everything. These notes would become his 1835 text Democracy in America. They returned to France in February 1832.

In 1833, Alexis traveled to England to court Mary Mottley (1799-1864), whom he first met in Versailles, to seek her hand in marriage. He remained in England during that first visit for 5 weeks to observe the results of the Parliamentary Reform Act where he concluded there was a good chance for the English to succeed in modifying the social and political set-up ... without violent convulsions.  The couple were finally married in 1836. They had no children in their 23 year marriage.

Alexis' political career began in 1839 when he was 34 years old, first serving in the lower house of parliament. He believed in free trade while supporting the colonization of Algeria. In 1842, he was elected to be a member of the American Philosophical Society. By 1847, he was advocating for wage increases, progressive tax based on income, and other socialist labor concerns.

Alex died on April 16, 1859 from tuberculosis in France. He was interred in Normandy in the Tocqueville cemetery.

In his Presidential Message, President Trump writes:

Tocqueville’s writings remind us that freedom and democracy cannot survive without morality and public virtue and that extremism, bureaucracy, and apathy are the surest paths to tyranny.  For these reasons, my Administration is working tirelessly to defend our Nation’s long-standing traditions of sovereignty, freedom, and faith in Almighty God.  We are restoring pride in our heritage, defending religious liberty, strengthening families, and ensuring that our children are taught to love their country, honor our Constitution, and respect our great American Flag.  In this work, we are guided by the same truth Tocqueville recognized 195 years ago:  A people who wish to remain free must remain worthy of freedom.

Today, on what would have been his 221st birthday, Tocqueville’s words remind us that the greatness of America lies in the enduring principles of liberty, self-government, and the character of our people—and we recommit to a future that cherishes the blessings of freedom and restores America as one glorious Nation under God.
