One Second It Was There and POOF, Now it Is Gone: Obama's Flop Of A Seal

Talk about an extraordinarily stupid idea as well as the shortest logo turnaround time ever.

I have heard it described as arrogant, idiotic, stupid and a number of other names and sure enough as some predicted would happen, it is gone as quickly as it appeared.

Is Obama's new faux-presidential, alternative-reality seal his "Mission Accomplished"? If you wanted to emphasize to voters that the Democrats' nominee is a bit stuck up, it would be hard to do better. I suppose he could start requiring reporters to stand when he enters the room. ... The seal probably started out as a bit of fun. But unless David Axelrod is insane, the thing will never be seen again.

Yup. Exactly what happened. Gone, Poof.

Widely mocked (here, here and here, to cite but a few of the items that wryly took note it), the intrepid Marc Ambinder of TheAtlantic.com reports that the insignia will be consigned to some closet to gather dust.

He writes: "I'm told that Obama recognizes that it was a silly mistake, that the universal reaction at (his Chicago headquarters) was, "Boy, was that dumb.' "

Marc Ambinder still had a little fun with it by saying:

All of which is to say that if you were to exchange brains with your typical Obama staffer, you can kind of see how designing a new seal seems cool and presidential, and you can also realize that those closest to the candidate don't vet every single stage prop that appears with the candidate, and you can feel a little sympathy for the staffer who has to explain to Valerie Jarrett just what the hell he or she was thinking when the seal was approved.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, now let us get back to serious issues, like Obama's breaking his campaign pledges.

Others weighing in and/or having a little fun with this:

I also have a different piece written about this at Digital Journal.
