The Troops response to John Kerry's insulting remarks.
This post is continued from Kerry's Cowardly Contempt of our Troops.
Updating as more and more reactions come in from Kerry's so called joke that ended up being on him.
“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
Democrats are already distancing themselves from Kerry over this.
1st District congressional candidate Bruce Braley has canceled a campaign event scheduled later this week with Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, saying that the senator's recent comments about the Iraq war were inappropriate.Army Veteran and Yale Alumnus are Responding to Kerry's comments.
Braley, a Democrat, is running against Republican Mike Whalen in Iowa's 1st District congressional race -- a contest considered to be one of the most competitive House races in the country.
Braley's appearance with Kerry, the Democrats nominee for president in 2004, was scheduled for Thursday.
Braley spokesman Jeff Giertz says the decision to cancel the event with Kerry was made independently. The decision came as a furor grew over comments Kerry made about the Iraq War Monday.
Flagg Youngblood -- a former Army Captain, graduate of Yale, and current Program Officer for Young America's Foundation -- comments: "Kerry's remarks are a left-wing, elitist insult to all those who volunteer to serve-pure and simple! The days of the radical 1960's are long gone, just like the draft. The myths about the military that the Left told then need to die now, once and for all."
Senator Frist also weighs in as I am sure everyone will be doing by morning.
While America’s servicemen and women are fighting and dying against our adversaries in the global War on Terror, John Kerry has the gall to criticize their intelligence, their education, and their motivation for service. His comments represent the absolute worst in Democrat scare tactics and present a grave insult to our all-volunteer Armed Forces.
Senator Kerry clearly owes an apology to our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines serving in Iraq. But Mr. Kerry has refused to do so. Instead, he’s claiming that Republicans are “desperately distorting” his comments. Watch the video yourself … it is perfectly clear what Mr. Kerry said … what’s unclear is whether Mr. Kerry ever means what he says. Perhaps he was against his comments before he actually made them.
And Senator Kerry is falsely claiming that Republicans “love to attack those who did [serve in war].” The truth is that Senator Kerry served honorably in Vietnam over 35 years ago, but he’s not immune from criticism today. Republicans aren’t “questioning his patriotism,” but we are calling him on his slur of our troops in the field.
Having just returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, I can tell you that the American troops I met were hard-working, intelligent, and dedicated to victory. Maybe the reason that John Kerry is so eager to accept defeat in the War on Terror is that he doesn’t share my opinion of our fighting men and women.

[UPDATES] 11/01/06- As well all kew, this story will not be going away soon. More candidates have canceled Kerry's appearances, and as a result, Kerry himself has canceled all scheduled appearances for the day.
"Sen. Cantwell is Sen. Kerry's host in our state," reads a press release from Mike McGavick, the Republican challenger to incumbent Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell. "She has evaded comment time and time again in this campaign. Not this time. Sen. Cantwell owes Washington's veterans and soldiers an explanation. She has taken Sen. Kerry's money. Does she also accept his comments?"
Then, there's Pennsylvania, where incumbent Republican Rep. Curt Weldon is in a fight with Democrat Joe Sestak.
"Joe Sestak has closely allied himself with John Kerry throughout this campaign,” Mike Puppio, chairman of Weldon’s re-election campaign, said of the retired admiral who is ahead of Weldon in the polls.
“The question now is whether Sestak will publicly condemn the insensitive and wildly off base comments by Kerry that belittle and denigrate our men and women in the military. ... Joe Sestak should call on his friend John Kerry to apologize,” Puppio said.In the face of these and other newly emboldened Republican campaigns, Kerry appears to have made the decision to lay low and not stoke the fire he sparked with comments made Monday during a campaign stop in California.
Kerry denies his statement instead of apologizing. Macsmind points out that even if Kerry was trying to speak to President Bushes education as he "claims" he was doing, the joke STILL does not make sense since Kerry Himself scored lower in grades than Bush did.
Townhall waits for the Democrats to somehow blame Rove for this... LOL
Democrats must be cursing that damn Karl Rove. How does he do it? From where in the black depths of his soul did he conjure the idea of putting a microphone in front of John Kerry’s mouth during the last week of a campaign season? We all know the truth now, and it is incontrovertible: Karl Rove is one magnificent bastard!
TN candidate Harold Ford is also saying that no matter how Kerry meant his comment, he needs to apologize.
The White House is yet again calling on John Kerry to apologize weds morning.
WASHINGTON - The White House pressed Sen. John Kerry Wednesday to apologize for a comment Republicans say was disrespectful of U.S. fighting forces in Iraq, saying he "put gasoline on the fire" of an already sizzling midterm election campaign.
"Sen. Kerry may have botched the line, but what he said was insulting to the troops, and what he ought to say is, 'Look, I botched the line, but I'm sorry for giving offense,' " press secretary Tony Snow said on CBS's "The Early Show."
"We're not the one who whipped this up into a big issue. Sen. Kerry did so yesterday," said Snow, appearing the day after President Bush and Kerry traded their harshest accusations since the 2004 presidential race. Bush accused the Massachusetts Democrat of troop-bashing and Kerry called the president's men hacks who are "willing to lie" to gloss over problems with the war policy.
Now, for man who thinks he is so damn smart, if he was, would he not understand that he could have simply made this a blurb instead of a story by APOLOGIZING to begin with? Don Suber points this out. The man has no brains, has no class and has no integrity and I for one am SO glad he is a Democrat.
This is the face of the party that will take the senate and house if you do NOT vote. So VOTE and vote Republican.
The GOP has issued an ad calling for Kerry's apology, watch it here.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) today released a new web ad entitled, “Apologize.” The ad focuses on the comments made by Senator John Kerry in California on Monday night and asks Senator Kerry to apologize to our troops. “Apologize” will be emailed to millions of Republican supporters, grassroots activists, and all state parties. The web ad is available for viewing now on www.gop.com.
Text of it here.
Mary Katharine Ham has a good take.
[UPDATE] 11/01/06- Kerry finally Apologizes. More here.
